SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, August 15th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Aug 15, 2017 2:39 am

Good morning!

Not a lot new here. We did remember to meet our friends at the Mexican restaurant last night! lol! And my husband sat right next to me and ate a tuna tostada! And the tuna wasn't even cooked!! RIGHT NEXT TO ME!! Gaaacckkk!! He blatantly ignores the rules, as you can see! Some peoples' husbands!!

Today I need to finish the laundry - 2 loads to go - and quilt the two Halloween placemats. They are from QIAD's pattern for jack-o-lanterns. It's such an easy pattern and so cute. And we'll also do some more wood splitting/stacking. Our plan to leave it alone for a while and see if it would split and stack itself didn't pan out like we'd hoped. Thank God for a splitter! I named it "Chopper".

We are supposed to go to our friends in Oregon to see the eclipse. She is the friend who had the double lung transplant 5 years ago and then was terribly sick with pneumonia and mild rejection early this summer. Well, now I may/may not have shingles (I went to the doc and got an antiviral med, but since I have no rash - yet - they couldn't diagnose for certain.) On top of that I might be coming down with my first cold in 2 years, though I think the antiviral is keeping it to a minimum. Our friends REALLY want us to come, but I'm so afraid of making Betsy sick. So I'm thinking we'll have to cancel. The cats will be happy, at least.

The berries just keep on coming! I'm out of room in my freezer. And I've made 6 batches of jam. And here I was, worried about not getting any berries this year! lol!! I sure wish I could share them with you all!

IRISH - Happy Birthday Eve!! oh, it's a good thing I'm not working with you and the kitties. That little tuxedo would have been in my purse for sure! I have no willpower when it comes to kittens - especially those little black and white ones! I'm sorry things have to be like they are for you and Jim, but I'm happy you are able to find the blessings!

BECCA - and blessings for you, too! All that fresh produce and a good dose of laughter with your friends, the very best medicine! Have you heard anything from your doctors yet?

LINDA - Sorry the sale wasn't a bigger success but maybe it's for the best for the mission group who is now getting the leftovers. I'm sure they can make good use of those items! Oh, those dust bunnies would have driven me crazy, too! I sound like an obsessive cleaner and I'm so not, but I do have my line in the sand - er - dust. Tomorrow I'm starting a serious cleaning campaign here as I'll be in between sewing projects.

TINA - I can see you putting on some miles in your near future! How is Baby Matthew doing? How are his parents doing?? And fancy you - a mani-pedi! You be stylin' now, girl!! I would LOVE to have Jaz stop by here with her polish!

JANA - oh no, didn't you just have a bad tooth less than a year ago?? And then Michael had one right after that? I hope it's not too bad. I HATE dental work! But then, who doesn't!

CHICKIE - are our babies coming back much or are they pretty much assimilated into the herd now? I keep wondering if their cow-moms recognize them.

Some bad news here. Last night Bill learned his brother has Stage 4 liver cancer that has spread to lymph nodes in his neck. He's already lost his other two brothers and I think this is a real blow to him. We hope to find out more next week. This brother, Mike, is just 70 yrs old.

In the meantime, we have to have supper. I'm going to make some kind of layered Italian pasta dish with spinach being one of the layers. And a small salad.

Good morning :)
Mary, gaack is right about a tuna tostada! Yucko! I have an icky look on my face just thinking about it LOL We ended up eating out lay night calibrating the closing on Holly's house so I moved the chicken to tonight. I'm so sorry to hear the news about Bill's brother.

My sister came by yesterday morning to borrow my computer, internet, printer, ink and paper and she yelled at Preston because he doesn't know her and was calling for me and kinda crying so I had to get after her and then a little while later she said she couldn't get her resume to print so I suggested to copy and paste it into a word document so she slammed her palms on the table and makes the chair she's sitting in go rolling across the floor backwards and yells at me that I act like she doesn't know how to do anything! So I gave her a small piece of my mind! I felt like throwing her out of my house! But I went over and opened a blank page in word and copied and pasted and showed her it could be done. ... she didn't even apologise! I was glad when she left.
My day today will be better :)

Good morning! Well, I didn’t make it to this table yesterday… I was on the go all day… one tired puppy last evening! I walked down to take care of Ava, and as soon as I returned, DH wanted to go mow at the rental in town. Without taking time to cool down, I changed into my long jeans and hiking boots (mowing attire), made a glass of tea to take and got the Hooligans buttoned up inside so they didn’t chase us down the road. When we returned, DH wanted to go work on his cedar tree removal/trimming…

Sunday, DH had an accident with his chain saw among the cedars. He is fine, but a pair of overalls is ruined and his thigh is scratched and bruised by the blade. It could have been tragic!!! So… I’ve decided to go with him to the wood cutting operation. Yesterday I pulled brush, fed the fire, loaded wood, unloaded and stacked wood… then came home and fixed dinner.

Before dinner, the cows were in the pasture near the house, so I called to Pocket Lint and Blackie. Blackie responded, so I walked her back to the pen with the cows, bulls, calves and Pocket Lint following. Fortunately, I was able to pen only Pocket Lint and Blackie and feed them their sweet feed. They had quite an audience of the calves waiting for them to eat and come out and play again. Unfortunately for them, I kept Lint and Blackie in the pen over night, and this morning I fed them again and let them go join their playmates. I’m really glad they are socializing and have become part of the herd.

Mary—I am afraid I see nothing of the cow mamas recognizing their babies. I’m so sorry for Bill. My late DH’s brother lost all his siblings… one was 42 (heart attack), one was younger (stock car accident in a race), and three were 57—cancer. Joe is the only one left, and 57 was kind of a creepy year for him. He’s my age.

My wood loading/stacking is done in 90 degree weather. We don’t even burn wood! Guess DH will be happy to have it when fall comes and his customers call.

I was wondering about your shingles/or not shingles. Keep using the cortisone cream. It’s really supposed to minimalize the rash/burning if started early enough. Oh, I understand how you feel about infecting/exposing your friend to anything that could make her critically ill.

Becca—I hope you get to talk to someone today! You are not a file in someone’s office, you are a real person!!! HUGS!!! You need me to be your patient advocate and get attention. Don’t be shy!

Linda—how nice to help the mission group! Can you have them give you a certificate of value for your taxes? Even if you didn’t get the cash, the tax value can help. If we come from/return to dust, then there is a crowd either coming or going around here!

Irish—in case I am lost in the wood piles, Happy Birthday tomorrow! I’d have had a hard time leaving that little tuxedo, too.

Tina—I’ve never had fish tacos or tuna tostadas. The fish tacos sound delish, but I’m not sure about sushi tostadas. (Addressing you, because I’m not sure Mary can handle it.) I wondered if your sister was still in the area. You have a lot of patience with her! She’s using/wasting your property and treats you like that… Girl, you deserve a medal!!! Glad she doesn’t show up too often for your sake, and Preston’s!

Today, I want to try to get the baby ensemble packed up for mailing. I need to write a letter to my cousin. He will be giving everything to his son/family/baby for me. I didn’t even see the door to my sewing room yesterday. If I get a chance, I want to make a hanging sleeve for DD’s wall hanging and bind it. So hard to make any plans when I’m going to be going to the woods with DH. It’s good exercise, but it’s too darn hot and full of insects that want pieces of me; plus, that’s when I got my sewing time.

I’m also on ALL dog duties as DS3 is working today. Later in the week, he’s going to be out of town, so I’ll have marathon care for Maggie and Choc. Trying to keep her from making messes is a losing battle. I can figure on cleaning up several times a day. She’s a mess.

I was hoping for rain today and indoors for DH… maybe tomorrow! I have to say, it’s easier to take care of the dogs when it’s not raining…

Oh, dinner tonight… I still have a portion of apples and pork chop for DH. The neighbor sent over some okra, so I’ll have to figure out how to fix it. I’ll add salads and watermelon.

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Mary - you know I love banned food, but I definetly draw the line at raw tuna or sushi! YUCK! So sorry to learn of Bill's brother. There are always spare prayers in this house. Love the Garden quilt! Another one of your masterpieces.

Becca - hope you find your bunny mode again. All those fresh, home grrown veggies sound delish!

Tina - there are somedays I am glad I don't have any sisters, yours yesrerday would be one! You are very patient!

Chickie - sounds like DH needs some of those chain saw pants that the blade can't cut through. Grateful it was only a scratch!

My appointment is in a little while.

Stu is finishing up his packing and it apears we will drive him to college on Saturday. His little car needed to have the transmission rebuilt and the shop won't be done until sometime next week. Then his parents will take it down to him. Everything is in a very short walk of his dorm, so he will be fine.

Tomorrow, we were taking a day trip out to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary, but will postpone that until Saturday, after we drop off Stu.

Happy birthday Irish, a day early!

Dinner - probably soup!

Enjoy,
Jana
