Psalm 67

Verse 1 is often the essence of our prayers. Whether explicit or implied, we want God to bless us, to prosper us, to favor us, to guide and protect us. This verse is often used for a benediction in our worship services; we then say Amen and we go home. But the next verse clarifies why God would choose to bless His people. It is only so that they will make His way known on the earth and His salvation among all peoples. God did not choose Israel and bless them because they deserved His blessing but in order that they would serve Him and fulfill His mission.
God's ultimate purpose is to be exalted and praised by all the peoples of the earth, for He alone is worthy of worship and honor and praise. His desire is that all the nations, those suffering oppression and in bondage to sin and spiritual darkness, would be set free to be glad and sing for joy. But that comes only through knowing His way and experiencing His salvation. How can that happen? It will come about only through our witness and faithfulness in fulfilling God's mission. That is why He has blessed us and been gracious to us. It is why His face shines upon us with favor--not for our benefit but "God blesses us, that all the ends of the earth may fear Him" vs 7
Hugs prayers and God bless
