SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Nov 22
Good Morning,
This morning is my brother's memorial service at our church and then on to their house for a gathering of family and close friends in his machine shop or outside in the rain. Not sure if having a bonfire will be too helpful. Yesterday my sis and I made huge salads all day long. We were relieved of wood duty. Yay! But our men went. They say only two more days and that should be finished. So maybe tomorrow will be one of those days. Maybe not, with TG prep, cleaning to do.
IRISH - sorry I mixed up the Dirty Dancing locations yesterday with you and Becca's. gotta remember, I've been reading these posts at 0400. Yawn. . . . So happy Terry will be there for TG! you sound like you were cleaning everything that moved yesterday and everything that didn't! And Jim got caught in the line-up! lol!
BECCA - the firefighters are angels, aren't they. Even on a local basis, I just want to hug them all. I'm so sorry to hear that your DB has moved to Hospice. I wish I were there and could help you get to go see him. Would any family member be willing to come stay with your DH so you could go visit? Saying prayers for you all. Maybe my brother will be able to take your brother's hand when the time comes and help him cross over. Special hugs to you, my friend.
TINA - Aha!!! I know this one!! I know what pasole is and I've even made it!! I have an actual recipe in my recipe box! Basically, it's pork and hominy soup, right?
JANA - our cats have a warm cat house, too. It's 2200 square feet, split level, 4 bedroom . . . . . lol!! I love hearing about your mountains. Question: Were you originally from UT and then moved to CA and then back to UT? I know you told us back when you were getting ready to move, but I can't recall now.
CHICKIE - glad you got an extra day! And glad you've got Boomer on the high priority list. He's a sweetie and needs lots of TLC and treats. He told me so. ;o)
VELDA - will you do your quilting in your fiver or take it to the community room at your RV park?
Well, today will be funeral food - croissant sandwiches, veggie tray, potato, caprese pasta, and watergate salads. Cookies, coffee, pop, and beer. and if any is left, I suspect that's what our supper will be, too. Either that or pizza,
I'm wondering what to wear today - I wanted to wear my black knit tulip skirt with boots and a sweater. Jim always took note when I wore skirts and told me how much he liked me in them. However, going directly to the outside gathering afterwards in rainy weather, kind of muddy, definitely chilly brings flannel lined jeans and raincoats to mind. So I've been perusing my closet. I think my black jeans will win out. I'll wear the skirt for TG instead.
Tomorrow - on to Thanksgiving preparations!!

Mary, yeppers that's what it is
it was Hot so we each had a bowl and froze the rest for Kevin and Maria hehe. I'll be saying extra prayers for you today.
Becca, I'm so sorry about your brother and you not being able to go see him too. I'll be saying extra prayers for you all too.
I'll be cleaning and sewing today. Tomorrow will be finishing off or touching up the cleaning and staying some of my dishes: green beans, mashed potatoes, Waldorf, etc so it cuts what I have to cook and prepare in half for Thanksgiving.
Tonight's supper is going to be cheeseburgers
We went to Wal-Mart yesterday and got the last of things we needed which the big one was cat food, so we shouldn't have to go back to town for anything for a week! Woohoo! I wish every place was closed for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I think it's awful that people have to work on those 2 days especially and I'm doing my part by not participating in all their Black Friday early Thursday blitzes nonsense. When my kids were little I never ended knew about black Friday. When Holy turned about 20 she asked me to go with her and I did, crazy people come out during those times! I think I've gone out a total of 4 times but it just doesn't interest me. ..I don't think there's any sale good enough to have me excited about going out in those mobs.

Good morning! I’ve got to do some (A LOT) house work today and get my sewing room ready for SIL to stay tomorrow night, town to Mom’s and store, see Ava, then Choc and Maggie with the Hooligans… Also in there, I have a DH who requires feeding… It’s overcast and sprinkling this morning… muddy paw and big boy boot prints on the wood floors later… so much for cleaning!
Mary—hearts are with you and your family today. I like the celebration of life in the machine shop! Your menu definitely sounds good… mummmm pasta salad! I used to make Watergate salad ages ago—haven’t had it in forever. What to wear… I vote for jeans and boots. I no longer own skirts, although I always see patterns and want them. HUGS to you!!!
You will be happy to know that when I get up in the morning and make my coffee, Boomer meets me at the treat drawer… he definitely has me trained. He’s become such a little cuddler with either me (sharing with Odie) or DH. He works his little self in under DH’s arm so he has to get pets.
Becca—HUGS to you, too! I’m so sorry that your brother is going to hospice, but you can know he will be comfortable and in no pain.
Irish and Becca—wherever Dirty Dancing was filmed… it was a neat movie! Patrick Swayze was certainly easy on the eyes!!!
Cooking will be easy today… leftovers for dinner, and I also have some biscuits and gravy for DH for brunch. I’ll fix some oatmeal in a mug for me.
Yes, tomorrow will be Thanksgiving prep. And the work continues…
Best wishes to you All! Bon appétit!

Maryz: Thought of your family today as you celebrate your brothers life. Hope the fellowship and family will be comforting for all.
Yes, my quilting will be happening at the clubhouse. It will be slow going, but that is why I waiting until we got here to add those borders and get the HUGE project done.
I could do it in the RV, but it would be a lot harder to spread it all out. I plan to keep the quilting very, very simple. I was pondering it while waiting to get to sleep last night, and still haven't made my final choice.
Dinner tonight is still up for grabs. I bought some fresh green beans and was hoping to do my late mother-in-laws recipe for fresh green beans and potatoes. One of my hubby's favorites and we have not had it in a very long time. Still thinking.
Hugs to all of you.
Have a little FUN today.

PS the fresh green beans, bacon and potatoes were a hit! They taste even better as left over tomorrow night.

Mary - i am a native California girl. Transplanted here. My mom is from here and moved to California when she was five. Later she moved back here to Utah. We have been coming here to visit family for more than 35 years. So i learned to love this area as home many years ago.
Thanksgiving prep will start for me on Friday as the family will be here on Sunday for the big dinner.

Hello everyone,
Maryz Keeping all of you in my thoughts & prayers today.
DD spent over an HR on the phone with us this AM.She wanted to come get us or whatever she could do to help. They are coming over here so we won't be alone. She offered to take me to see DB but with the fires still going & the way they tell me DB is Im ok with it.Ill meet him in Heaven one day.DD helped me a lot by talking to me.And with the tooth hurting & other aches I probably will stay here.
The fires here are relentless. One big one has burned over 14,000 acres & still gaining momentum. They seem to be everywhere. The smoke is back today.
The firemen are all amazed at the treatment they are receiving. We are so grateful for what they are doing.
Jana Glad Stu will see Dr soon.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.
We will have a burger steamed cabbage.pickled beets. Becca
