SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Nov 21

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Nov 21, 2016 4:45 am

Good morning,

should be a dry day here today. Or dry-ish anyway. This morning I'm going to drop my sis off for a massage appointment and do last minute grocery shopping for memorial gathering and for Thanksgiving. I have a make a color copy of a cross-stitch pattern, and pick up an ice cream cake (voted in while my scratch cake was voted out. ;o/ ) Then we'll come home and make a pasta caprese salad, a potato salad, and a watergate salad for tomorrow. Then gather up tables and chairs and coolers. And help split wood if the guys go over to do that. Can't waste a dry day! Every day is busier than the last. Oh, and wrap all my Christmas gifts for kids so we can give them out on TG since we won't see them again before we leave WA. Busy day! Good thing I love busy! The good news is I've lost about 5 pounds! Only 35 more to go! lol!

JANA - you go ahead and root for the Hawks because they plan to beat your 'Niners on New Years Day.

BECCA - So sorry to hear your brother is in the hospital. Prayers have already been said for him. It must be frustrating for you to not be able to be with him.

IRISH - Dirty Dancing was filmed near you? Maybe you should have auditioned for a part! Do you dance? Dirty?? ;o] lol!! Do you know I've never seen that movie? Just the one classic scene of him lifting her on the dance floor.

VELDA - I'm not sure what all we'll be doing in the next few months. Maybe we can all meet at Cindy's for an afternoon. That's about 3-1/2 to 4 hours from me. Let our DH's get to know each other. Bill knows Don and they get along quite well.

TINA - prayers for Kevin! If he was up front with them about his case, and they still passed him on, then maybe he's got a good chance! I see they are advertising even here. Bill's sister tried that once a few years back. But she's more our age and it almost killed her. It's HARD work! And they have to move FAST. And then she fell out of the truck and bruised her bum and that was the end of that! haha! get it? The 'end'? And it's not even 0800 yet!!

Today will be wood splitting, cooking, shopping, cleaning, and already a couple of hours of sewing. We have to quilt a queen quilt we made for our Texas friends about 2 months ago. But it got shoved to the side when hell burst here and now that we've decided to go south it needs to get finished so we can drag it along with us.

Supper will be left over chili and maybe some more cornbread. My sis REALLY like my 'secret' recipe - the sweet corn muffin recipe on the side of the Albers Corn Meal box.

And what may I get for you all??

Mary, you are a whirling dervish, no wonder you lost 5 pounds. Thank you for prayers for Kevin :) yes he was totally up front about his case and even reminded them about it when they said he had the job if he could pass the background check. ....I've got my fingers and toes crossed so hard they hurt! ;) I'm thinking UPS is for the young by your sorry LOL sorryfor for SIL but the story is funny now :)
Frankie has put in a request for Pasole so that's going to be either today or tomorrow's supper. We're very overcast and cold here today so it might just grace or take tonight!

Mary and I were posting at the same time...

Good morning! I never made it here yesterday. We ate... soup from a can for me and brats on buns for DH. I had granddog duty, finished the binding on Mom's quilt and kind of ran out of steam for cooking. DS2 stopped and visited for awhile, so dinner got pushed later.

I need to do some cursory straightening and cleaning in my sewing room today. SIL is coming early to stay for Thanksgiving. I'll be going to town to take the quilt to Mom so my sister can package it and some neck pillows and get them on their way to my aunt in California. I need to stop at the store again while I'm in town. There will also be an Ava visit for the Hooligans today, too.

Dinner tonight... butternut squash from one of the coffee guys, *mac 'n cheese*, something green and hummmmm... something else for dessert. Guess I need to plan to bake, too.

Keeping Boomer happy is also on my agenda... he's begging for a goodie now. I cut them in tiny pieces... love knows no size with the Hooligans... they just like the reward no matter what they get.

Bon appétit!

Since I posted that... my day changed. Mom called, and she's not quite ready to send the package so I have time to make a table runner for my aunt. I have it started, and I think I can finish it today. Then today's activities will shift to tomorrow... except Ava, and she's an every day activity.

Tina--I need to look up pasole. You're right that UPS is for the YOUNG and strong backs! Still hoping for good news for Kevin! He sounds like a good kid who got caught with the wrong friends and some peer pressure and he's now working to put that behind him. Best wishes to him!!!

Good afternoon from cold, wintery, but good ole SW. Pa....Our snow is almost gone (that's it for the winter, right) but we had nothing compared to other parts of this country....
Last night I heated the Snuggle Safe for the feral fur baby and this morning he was still snuggled deep in his blanket...As it gets colder, hopefully, he'll move to the "cat house" which is much warmer and protected from the wind...

Mary, I can see why you lost some weight, my heavens girl friend...As I said, you really do need that trip away, a well earned vacation...AND no, that movie wasn't filmed near me, but in N. Carolina, in Becca's neck of the woods......But, our paper had an article about the Inn and Lake Lure area and the fires....Also, I believe, the Esmeralda Inn had burned twice before, hopefully, the fires will be put out and it saved this time....AND of course I'm noted for my dirty dancing...That usually comes after I've been working in the garden and I'm trying to shake the dirt off my shoes and clothes before coming inside....Quite a sight!

Chickie, well, it looks like you have another full day whether is was planned or not.....It's always good to be flexible, isn't it?

Tina, sure hope and pray Kevin gets a break...Working at UPS is tough but it is a good job...When our Chris was in school, he worked an evening shift at UPS as a sorter...He had to memorize zip codes and make sure packages went onto the right conveyor belt...Every night I would give him a test on the codes.....And of course you heard the old joke about Fedx and UPS merging and calling it FEDUP.......I know, sick..............

Today is an ugly day, beds are striped and sheets in the washer, Jim has been striped and has had his bath and shampoo and next will be cleaning up the kitchen and then sewing....Tomorrow will be getting ready for whoever might be coming....Not sure is Nick will be here but Terry, Stephan and probably 1 of the dogs will be here...Nick might have to work so he'll be cooking dinner for a few of his friends...I kind of wish we had been able to go to N.C....We will be going to Kevin's on Thursday so I'll wait and do my cooking on Sat. and then send left overs back to school with Stephan....

As for our dinner, left over pork, maybe some fried potatoes and home made applesauce...Don't think we need afters.................

Happy eating.............

Hello everyone, sunny & low 40s here. But the sky's are clear Just still praying for rain.

I went by the fire headquarters this AM to take a letter of appreciation. They were leaving for their day duty. It's like a city.So many trucks & men. They all say they have never been anywhere like here.Everyone is trying to do everything we can for them. And we all feel bad they will miss Thanksgiving with families.

Maryz I hope you have lists.I would need one or more.Prayers for all of you.Yes it's hard not being close to DB.He has his 2 DBs there,Nieces nephews & DD.I talk to my niece to keep informed. They all know why I'm not there.

Tina I will pray for Kevin. My DGS that just got out of army works at UPS now.It isn't easy work but he's used to hard work & lifting.Sure hope he gets on.

Chickie If you're like me you go with the flow & whatever jumps up you do.Think your life is that way too.

I went to town early got finished, was coming home & saw a car at Church I thought was the quilters.I stopped and it was quilting day so I helped until after lunch.Ran home & made DH lunch. We had leftover pizza. Will probably do breakfast tonite.Waffles sounds good. Becca

Irish I forgot about Esmarelda Inn.Yes it's where my DGSs live & where Dirty Dancing was filmed at Lake Lure. The fires over there are Horrible .We used to have them as one of our accounts when DH &DS made wooden toys to sell.It had burned before. We were friends with owners.Really nice people. They have even had to suspend the mail there as lots of roads closed. Its bad there now DS told me last nite.smoke coming in Homes like it did here.

Good afternoon!

Plenty of leftovers here, so no one will go hungry.

Mary - 5 pounds on you is alot - no more! Prayers for all going well at tomorrow's memorial service. I know it will.

Chickie - chsnge of plans are the norm here!

Tina - prayers for Kevin - being upfront is the best. I too need to look up pasole.

Irish - snow goes, but always seems to find it way back! We got rain here, but my mountains got more snow. We made a warm cat house in California, even heated it, but could never convince them to sleep in it

Stu got a appointment for next Tuesday with the Hand Surgeon. I think next week. They just dropped into the office - faster action than the phone.

Enjoy!
