SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Aug 15th
Good Morning!
I was awake at 3:30 this morning and laid there until 4:00. Finally got up, much to the kids' delight. This means they get to eat early! Now they have all gone back to bed and here I am.
I enjoyed having my son here so much this weekend. He was watching me cut some 1-1/4" strips of fabric and he thought I meant them to be 1-1/2" and called my attention to it before I made a possible mistake. The boy's got potential!!
CHICKIE - you made one more important point to put in the "Pro" column for a new trailer! If we do buy a new one, it will probably be the exact same model - a 27.5L Arctic Fox - except 15 years newer. There are some minor changes in it, but it's a floor plan that works for us. One big problem though - the cabinet where we keep the dog food and the booze isn't there in the newer version. Scottie and Bill are accustomed to begging at that cabinet door. They are going to have to make some adjustments!!
CAROL - prayers said for your SIL's brother. He is much to young to be so sick! Please let us know how he does.
TINA - I'm picturing you all dancing in the rain, splashing in the puddles! Glad you got some moisture. My penguins are still in the car, looking out the window, waiting for someone to go downtown to the P.O. and send them on their way to you.
BECCA - Your bear story recalled a memory for me: We have Cincinnati friends who retired to CO up in the mountains out of Durango. Being city folks their entire lives, the raccoons fascinated them so much they started putting out a bit of dog food for them. Soon more raccoons came and our friends gave them all names. Finally, they had over forty raccoons coming twice a day for free meals and if there was no food they started getting angry and were damaging the house. They were buying 50# of dogfood a week! And then the bears started coming wanting a share of the action!! Our friends learned a big lesson about mountain living! We still laugh about that, but for a while there, it wasn't too funny for them - to have angry bears prowling their yard and porches.
JANA - happy anniversary to you and your Special Somebody! I know you'll figure out something special to do to celebrate, even if it's just sitting on the couch together and watching an old favorite movie. Or a big family meal.
IRISH - how was the shower? And the visits? How did Jim do? Thought of you a lot over the weekend.
We have all kinds of leftovers - chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, garlic bread. So tonite is going to be a hean'n'eat meal. Whoopie! Have you got an idea yet for your supper? too hot to cook in most places. Nothing wrong with a hearty bowl of Cheerios!

Hello everyone,.
Maryz You will need a nap today.I used to never throw anything out or put anything resembling food out.But when the fox came I would occasionally put something. But no more.We don't even feed the birds because of bears & squirels. They tear them down.
We think he was just wandering thru.
Hope you find the perfect camper.I agree with Chickie.I would never want to start out in a vehicle that had any potential problems.
Carol Prayers for the SILs Brother. So sad being so young.
Tina Happy to hear you got caught in rain.Sure it felt good after the drought.
Irish I too thought of you & was hoping it was a great time for all including Jim.
Jana Happy Anniversary to you & yours.May your day be special.Ours is next week.
DH had his bacon yesterday so the burger will be today.Potatos of some kind.cole slaw.
Smores for DH. Becca

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Aug 15th
Good early afternoon from a very dreary, soggy, Sw. Pa....We had rain yesterday and now again today and we're just darn damp! Of course the grass and weeds are loving it, even the birds are extra noisy today.....
Mary, I can see what a big decision this could be but I do go along with Chickie's post...You plan on camping for many years, you both love it so why not treat yourself...you know that saying about spending the kid's inheritance, I say, go for it! Bill and Scottie will just have to beg at another cabinet door.....
Carol, what terrible news about that young fellow...Boy, we just never know what life is going to throw at us, do we? Will certainly keep him in my special prayers.....And, I'm interested in your stuffed pepper casserole from yesterday.....
Becca, it's it a shame, trying to be nice to animals and then they take advantage of you....I still put out stuff, watermelon rinds etc. for the ground hogs but I put them in the lot far, far away from the house...And I do try to have corn out for the deer in the winter...I've stopped putting dry cat food out at night because of the raccoons...Just please, please be careful when you're out walking...We don't want to read about you wrestling with a bear.....
Tina, you got rain? Wow, life is good!
Well, besides being a dreary day, weather wise, it's a dreary day, Mom wise....Kathy just left for the airport and her trip back to Reno and Terry left to go back to N.Carolina...BUT, my weekend was one of the best...I was so worried about leaving Jim but the boys said, they had everything covered and they sure did...Terry got here at 8:00, Sat. morning and I left about 8:30 and from then on, someone was here until I got back home about 8:00 that night...Terry stayed until Kevin came and then young Jim came and his 4 kids and all their kids came at different times...It must have looked like a used car lot in front of the house...Then yesterday, most of the kids were here for brunch and once again, that used car lot....
The shower couldn't have been more perfect...It was held at a B&B near where Cari lives...We had Kathy wait in the car until mostly everyone was there and then she walked in and of course the tears really started....The look on Cari's face was priceless....So much good food and good friends, just great...Dan, Cari's brother had gone with us and then spent the day with Matt, the groom to be.....Jackie, Kathy's oldest DD, kept saying, I can't believe "little sissy" is getting married! But, it was a wonderful day and she loved her quilt...Yesterday, she sent me pictures and all 3 of her cats were snuggled together on the quilt, so I guess they liked it too.....
Today is or was going to be laundry day but with the rain, can't hang outside...Most of the uglies are done and Jim just went upstairs to take a nap so, not sure what I'll get into....Seems funny not to be rushing to get the quilt done or finish framing the cross stitch sampler...Might take a break before I start something new, maybe.....
As for dinner, I do have left overs from yesterday plus left over roast beef from Sat. so we'll be in good shape....Kathy even brought me tomatoes from her garden, all the way from Reno and I'd be quite satisfied with just those......
I think I need to put on some lively Irish music, house is much too quiet......
Happy eating....................

Hi Everyone!
Irish - My sister told me she made a Stuffed Pepper Casserole, using the same recipe as stuffed peppers, because her husband and daughter didn't like bell peppers! lol She just cut up the peppers instead. I looked at Betty Crocker's website and found a Stuffed Pepper Casserole. It is made on top of the range, but I have put it in the oven too. I freeze part so I can have another meal later.
I will talk later, but here is the recipe:
Stuffed Pepper Casserole
1 lb extra-lean ground turkey (you can use beef as well)
1/2 cup diced yellow onion
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 cups diced bell peppers
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 can (14.5 oz) Muir Glen™ diced tomatoes, undrained
2 cups Progresso™ Chicken flavored broth (from 32-oz carton)
1 can (8 oz or one 15 oz) tomato sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 cup uncooked white basmati rice
1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese, or Cheddar blend (6 oz)
Method:
1. In 4-quart saucepan, cook beef, onion and garlic over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, breaking into small pieces as beef browns.
2. Add bell peppers, salt and pepper. Cook 5 to 7 minutes longer or until peppers have started to soften. drain off excess fat at this point.)
3. Reduce heat to medium; add tomatoes, broth, tomato sauce, soy sauce and Italian seasoning. Stir until well combined. Heat to boiling.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Aug 15th
Good afternoon! It’s beautiful here today… in the mid-70s! The only problem is no breeze and 80% humidity. There is a cloud cover, so it’s not unbearable. The Hooligans and I walked down to Ava’s. They were off exploring the pastures and hay meadow and woods along the roadsides. They were having FUN!
While DH has been off visiting his siblings, I’ve had total control of the remote… especially the volume control!!! I have loved it! No headaches! Connection? Probably!
Mary—the beggers will find the other cabinets just fine!!! Enjoy your new rig!!! It’s good to have “dependable” on your long trips!!!
Irish—I like the idea of spending the kid’s inheritance. I keep telling DH if we don’t spend it, they certainly will!!! Why should we have old vehicles; I guarantee in 6 months after we are gone, they will all have new stuff! LOL!!! Oh, I’m sorry you have another “empty nest”!!! The shower sounds like a wonderful time! I hate when I can’t use my solar clothes dryers!!!
Tina--glad you got some rain!!!
Carol—I’ll have to try the casserole! It looks really good.
Becca—I moved my compost pile farther from the house. DH wanted it where he could toss stuff easy, but I do the “trip” and walk out to the edge so I don’t get varmints close to the house… although you wouldn’t think they would make that mistake twice with my security patrol!!!
Dinner tonight… will depend on if DH wants to eat when he returns. I will finish my artichoke and maybe have tomatoes or something on the side.

Good afternoon!
I think that I will be AWOL from the table a couple of days. Sarah is done working and has taken Ethan off camping with friends, so since it is our anniversary, DH is scouting out a trip toward Green River, in Southern Utah. That will mean we will camp on the trip - my way of camping - at a very nice motel - Marriot, Holiday Inn, Ramada, etc!
DH wants to explore the area in Sanpete county and that is south of us and on the way, we will stop off at a few LQS's.
The kids here will take care of my furball and they will be on their own to feed themselves.
So, see y'all in a few days -
Enjoy,
Jana

I'm finally making a quick run through.
Yes the rain was awesome! I got totally soaked because my back and leg doesn't let me move very fast, but I didn't melt LOL
Irish, sorry you're having a blue day, hugs.
Mary, I hope you find the perfect one!
Becca, I don't think I've ever had a smores.
Jana, have fun!
Carol, I just use meatloaf in mine LOL and I just do two, but your casserole sounds good!
Chickie, sounds like you've been keeping busy.
Well I'm feeling about a thousand times better after being totally lazy all weekend!
We're going to have taco ring for supper, homemade Pico de gillo and guacamole and salad.
