SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, August 14th
Good Morning!
It was good to see my son and DIL yesterday. They will be back today to finish up their quilt. It's turning out very nice. My son tells me he does all the cutting for Emily, using the rulers, rotary cutters, etc. and he was very conversant in fusibles and other quilty terms. I'm so proud! I told him he's the daughter I always wished I had. Who knew my SON would be my quilting child!
Bill and I are in a quandry. Our fifth-wheel, which we love, is 15 yrs old, and has about 150,000 miles on it. He was underneath repacking wheel bearings the past few days, something he does every year, and found shackle bolts broken and other parts of the suspension system worn out, cracked, eroding, etc. (do I sound like I know what I'm talking about?) He made some calls and the right repair would cost $2,000. Last year we had another costly repair on worn out parts and the year before that was something else. We hope to be able to travel another 15 years. Should we bite the bullet and buy a new trailer now, or keep on fixing this one? That's our conundrum. We aren't making payments on anything else right now, so financially, it's time. When I look at the new rig that we'd get (same as this one but new) I get stars in my eyes. But then I wake up in the morning, panicky at the thought and sad to think of giving up our old trailer (I'm emotionally attached). and so it goes. I can't wait to see how this story ends!
IRISH - was the shower yesterday or today? Is it just ladies, or does everybody go? Nowadays, men often attend showers, too.
TINA - hope you got some rest yesterday.
CAROL - sorry you are without a car. I'm such a homebody, I feel kind of a relief when I'm left with no transportation. I'm forced to stay home with my sewing machine! my son and DIL chose the quilting pattern - pine cones and needles - from Bill's selection of patterns he has in the computer. It's purrfect for their quilt!
CHICKIE - I'm very interested in that 3-month treat flea med. guess we need to do some research. And you are so right! Trying to dig down to the skin through Scottie's long, 7-inch coat is almost like mining for silver! Sorry your kitty moved on. Did you see that Michael Phelps' baby boy is also a "Boomer"?
JANA - how is the landscaping going? Sounds like you've got the little Tonka team and the big Tonka team!
BECCA - I doubt we'll have bears in our yard anymore. Almost all the wooded lands around us have now been cleared for big housing developements. But we still have the occasional coyote.
the kids are staying for an early dinner today and my grandson is also coming by to look through Warren's furniture to see what he wants for his house. DIL is truly allergic to gluten (not just getting on the bandwagon), so I had to scratch our first menu. We're going with grilled chicken, mashed red potatoes, green beans, salad, and root beer floats for dessert.
What's the story at your house?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, August 14th
Good morning,
The landscaping preteam has now turned it over to Sarah. She and Ethan are going camping for a few days, then we will start the planting.
The other kids are going to DDIL's parents for dinner and a party, so dinner is just us. I got a corned beef to cook here.
The weather is just beautiful. Barely a breeze and will be in the low 90's. To some that may sound hot, but we have no humidity, so it is very nice.
Still trying to plan something for our anniversary on Tuesday, but nothing has jelled. It's our 41st.
Need to finish my church lesson for today. Our Ward has gotten so big, that we are needing to be divided again. That will happen at anytime, so when it does I may be released from my church calling. Anyway, I will be losing about half of my girls with the boundary change.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning everyone, nice day here.Over slept here.Hate doing that.Watched the olympics late but wanted to know the winners.
Maryz That is a big quandry to be in about your fifth wheel.Guess it's like an old car you with make payments, bite the bullet or keep making repairs & you still have an old vehicle..Sure you will work it out
Great that DS is getting into the quilting world.
I can do without seeing the Bears.I know our dogs kept them away. This one was too close for comfort of course we were in the house. It was 20 ft from back door.
Carol Hope you get your wheels back fast.I too am a homebody but like to know if I need it it's there.
Irish Know you are having a blast with family.Sure hope Jim is ok with the crowd.
Jana You sure get all the family involved with your yard project. That is great.
Tina We are hoping you are getting some much needed rest.
Chickie Good to know you hear from Vicky.I miss her but know she has a busy life.
It is burger for DH,black eyed peas, potato salad & brownies.Salad for me too. Becca

Mary, that's a big dilemma, that's how we are with our vehicles. I'd love a new or newer one (never actually had a new one LOL) but wouldn't want the payments. But by the sound of what's going on underneath there........maybe?
Becca, I did get rest yesterday
) It even involved a nap! LOL Then my DSIL and DBIL came over and visited for hours and they took us out to supper! It was great to visit with them! When we were leaving the restaurant we all got soaked going to the vehicle, LOL we were all laughing as hard as it was raining. It poured and poured on the way home, there were massive puddles everywhere.
We're having chicken tonight in some form.

Mary—I totally understand your conundrum. This said, after the fire we had the option to “fix up” the mobile home that was on this lot or build a house. After lots of discussions, we decided that we were able now to make all the repairs and upkeep, but in 20 years we would probably have a pile of junk… a 40+ year old mobile home and more upkeep and repairs than we could do ourselves physically. We built a pretty much maintenance free house. Think about motor homing for 20 years… do you want to have a broken down motor home in 10 years that may or may not ever be fixable and reliability would e questionable (think cost of repairs on the road), or would you like to travel in a newer, more reliable rig. It may be time to tell your old friend good bye at the factory… Save it from the indignity of being towed to somewhere and treated shabbily… never an easy decision. This is from someone who drives a 17 year old truck! However, it is very low mileage for its age and reliable.
I did see that Michael Phelps has a Boomer! LOL!!! Mine’s cuter!!!
DH went to visit his family, but I’m on Mom duty and Holligan and Ava duty. DH will be back late tomorrow. I’ve been doing laundry and house cleaning. I made jalapeno cheddar poppers, stuffed mushrooms and guacamole for him to take with him . His brother and wife from Colorado are visiting in Ft. Scott, and SIL from Wichita was going today as well… The Hooligans and I are going to watch a movie of my choice tonight…
Dinner tonight… I have a piece of unmentionable left, an artichoke, tomatoes and poppers and mushrooms. I won’t starve!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, August 14th
Good Afternoon Everyone!
I did get my wheels back yesterday. No front brakes were needed, they were unable to fix the locks, however, they were able to scan and find out and fix the reason for the check engine light. All is well!
Tonight's dinner will be stuffed pepper casserole if I can get busy or it maybe a frozen dinner!
Maryz - I like what Chickie said about your decision. I personally do not want to drive far in any vehicle I have doubts about.
Chickie - a little alone time is always nice. Hope you get to sew.
Tina - Glad to hear you got some rest.
Becca - I have stayed up too late watching the Olympics too, but it is only every four years!
Jana - I think there is a party coming up in your backyard, but I too am impressed how all of you pitch in and get the work done.
May I ask for your prayers? My Sister in Law's brother is in the hospital with cancer. He is 58 years old. He had too much potassium so they put him on dialysis, he has had two surgeries in the last few weeks, due to obstruction in his bowel and now he has septis. They did an exploratory surgery and couldn't find the leak. He has a wife and two children, 18 and 23. He is the bread winner. Please say a prayer!
