SUPPER CLUB - tuesday, august 9th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Aug 09, 2016 3:12 am

Good morning!

Today is my middle brother, Albert's, 58th wedding anniversry. I was only about 7 years old when he and his girlfriend eloped. I can still remember my parents going into his room, looking through his closet, and noticing that his good suit was gone. Wasn't a good day at our house that day! lol!

Well, we moved furniture yesterday and of course, it rained hard for the first time in many weeks! Figures. We made about 4 pick-up loads of odds'n'ends to our house, to my brother's, and to the Goodwill. We were both so tired!

Today Bill is driving Jim & Terry's motorhome to Seattle for repair work. They will pick him up after Jim's doctor appointment (to check to see if bladder ca is really gone after surgery in Feb. - crossing fingers). I'm not sure if I'm going along or not. I have no other big plans for the day, but I really don't want to go.

TINA - Yes, you got me to say "Tuna". But it was worth it! Ihope you are feeling better soon. We don't want your cold going into bronchitis this time. Take good care. Hope you got your soup.

CHICKIE - I can see now three sets of big, soulful, betrayed eyes glaring at you and DGD!! Poor puppies!

BECCA - you bet I was happy that my niece took my piano! It was the only family heirloom of any value. and I loved it so much for so many years. But quilting has replaced many of my former 'loves'. Except for my Bill. ;o)

VELDA - our days have lost at least an hour or more of daylight on both ends! Only 6 weeks to the halfway point between winter and summer. Hate to contemplate that. Though going south, we get a little more daylight in the winter.

JANA - when in Texas we eat at the Longhorn occasionally, and I guess I've never ordered their spicy steak. I always get a filet mignon and love it! Says a lot for someone who rarely eats or enjoys red meat!

IRISH - you always worry me when you don't pull up a chair. Hope all is OK. Maybe you're just busy admiring that new baby!

Tonite we are having sweet'n'sour meatballs over rice. It's one of those meals that I used to make all the time and then sort of forgot about. now I've got it on my list. I won't forget again!

Tell us about your supper plans!

Mary, I hope Albert has a great celebration! And Jim gets great cancer free news!
It's over cast here, hopefully we'll get some rain.
We're having leftover zuppa for supper. I think I have allergies, claritin seems to be helping a little at a time.

Good morning,

The kids have a design Center meeting to pick out the colors and appliances for the new house. So hopefully they will be back for dinner. Which will be pot roast in the crockpot, I will add rice and a veggie too.

If I get some gumption, homemade dinner rolls.

Mary - praying for good news all around.

Tina - glad that the Clariton is giving you some relief. I left most of my allergies in California and haven't had many since we moved.

Irish - just simply adding prayers for You!

Enjoy!

Oh, doggie spa was everything I dreaded it would be. Tinker Bell went soaking wet between my legs (and, I was on my knees at the time!) and proceeded to shake all over the bathroom! The little dogs were good, although Boomer made a slick escape. Needless to say, the bathroom floor got a good cleaning. The dogs all smell good… for now! It's also nice not to have all the scratching sounds... hopefully this new product works! I don't have to give it to them again until November when I'll go back to Frontline and use it up through winter and (somewhat) off season for fleas.

Tina—I take a generic Claritin every morning. It definitely has seemed to help.

Mary—hope Jim gets a good report. Bill is so good to help take care of their vehicle needs! I like your menu! I’ll need to try it… again! I used to do something like that a lot.

Jana—I do like my spicy!!! We had jalapeno poppers the other evening… yum!!!

Irish--miss you!!!

Dinner tonight is smorgasbord… cleaning out the leftovers. My sous chef thinks it’s a good idea for this evening.

Enjoy!

Good afternoon from sunny and warm, SW. Pa....We do have rain in the forecast for the next couple of days but so far so good.....

Mary, sure hoping and praying for good news about your brother, Jim...And I guess the elopement worked out OK, lol...I remember when Jim's sister eloped and I was the one she had tell her parents and brothers...Boy were they mad and kind of blamed it on me, (as if I could have stopped them)...But, they had a long and happy life until her passing....I can imagine how tired you all must have been from moving furniture...That's no easy job! And I wish I could say I've been admiring the new baby (who has already gained 2 ozs) but it's been a bad couple of days.....Oh well, better times ahead.....

Tina, Tina, Tina......We need you to be healthy! But, could it be, you are doing too much????

Becca, if you want, you can send some of your drizzly weather up here (after my sheets are dry)....Our ground is pretty dry....Stuffed peppers, one of my favorites and even better if the peppers are right from the garden...

Chickie, I have this vision in my head of you and 3 very wet fur kids and although it would be miserable, it is funny....Does this new product come in pill form? Terry gets something for his 2 and he tells me, it's very reasonable and works great...I usually use Advantage on the cats even though they don't go outside but this year the vet switched to Frontline...One year I made the mistake of doing nothing and we had a terrible time getting rid of fleas, inside the house..Been told, fleas will come in on shoes and/or anything they can get their little claws on, grrrr......

Do want to thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers...There are times when you just wonder but then "someone" intervenes and everything works out....You gals are my source of energy.....

And you all are not going to believe what happened this morning...I put sheets in the washer, came upstairs to have my coffee and read the paper...Waiting to hear the buzzer and got into cleaning the kitchen...Well, when I finally went to check, the basement was flooded...The hose had fallen out of the stationery tub and we had about an inch of water in the laundry room and then going into the next room....Not having a shop vac, I as using my rug scrubber to soak up the water and not having fun and then Ted came up and we lugged the carpet outside....I had wanted to redo down there so maybe this was my "go ahead"....Oh well, everything is out of the laundry room, sheets are on the line but now what to do with all the junk, lol.....
And then to top it off, last night the fellow mowed our grass and he does get a little carried away with his mower, trying to go up hills when he shouldn't...At one point, he was spinning the wheels pretty good and guess where all that dust ended...Everything on both porches, window sills and all the plants and flowers are covered with brown dust...There again, this week the porches get scrubbed early, not to mention the rest of the mess.....
So if anyone is looking for me, I'm the one with the scrub bucket, probably look a little like Carol Burnett at the end of her shows, lol......

And for our dinner, that's a darn good question....Donna just gave me a very nice zucchini so I know there will be breaded zucchini but not sure what else...........Yesterday, I did get my KFC fix so can't be chicken.............

Happy eating..................

Good afternoon!

Oh, Irish! You poor woman! Your laundry disaster would have sent me to the big house for sure. I do want to tell you that your floor scrubber/carpet extractor is the best for sucking up water. Unfortunately it has to be emptied more often. Our son’s basement flooded in a storm, and my Hoover shampooer sucked up more water drier and faster, so it might have been beneficial not to have a shop vac. It was also easier work than the shop vacs. We are so dusty here! I’ll be thinking of you as Carol Burnett—give me the ear tug!

Irish--I’m glad I could bring a smile to your face with the antics of the Hooligans! We were laughing the whole time. This new (to me) product is Bravecto , and they have one chewable “treat” every three months. It seemed like it cost a fortune, but the one dose is actually less than three Frontline doses by $3. Let me know what Terry uses if you think of it. I may need new armaments next summer! We have had flea infestations in rentals and it usually takes a couple of fogings to get rid of them. This heat and humidity has them thriving!

Speaking of heat and humidity, I’ve had several advisories on my phone today. The heat index is 112 with a temperature of 94! No breeze. The guys are cutting the rest of the hay today. It will dry out immediately and probably will be raked and baled this evening. Thankfully they have air conditioned tractors! I raked one year using a tractor with no umbrella or AC and thought I would die. I convinced DH this afternoon when he returned from his Area Agency on Aging meeting that it wouldn’t be prudent to go our and work in that heat and humidity.

Becca—I wish I had fresh peppers! I want to go raid DS3’s garden and see if he has any this year, but I haven’t gotten it done. I might try growing some next year again. Any extra drizzle left from sending to Irish, pass on to us!

Stay cool!
