SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, aug 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Aug 02, 2016 3:03 am

We're going to be cool again today with possible T-storm, but warming up for the rest of the week. But I'm so thankful not to be having temps like many of the rest of you!

I've been working on quilt backings. Most of the afternoon was spent piecing my scraps of Texas fabric together in a sort of crazy quilt fashion. I'm almost halfway finished. I doubt I'll ever need any more Texas fabric so I might as well use it all up now any way I can.

JANA - glad you got you new tablet. My i-pad is getting a bit long in the tooth. I use it mostly to download audio books to listen to in my sewing room, but taking it on long trips in the pick-up, and out to the yard while gardening have been hard on it. It's day will come soon.

IRisH - that must have been so hard when Jim didn't recognize your son. But glad that Terry was there to give you a bit of an emotional rest. Is he still planning to move closer to you when Nick graduates? prayers for your sister! We have friends in CO who also have a dog named Suzie - spelled the same way. And they are also dealing with the same health issues you are with Jim. Only it is the wife who is ill in their case.

TINA - glad you got a bit of "chilly" in your hot days! haha!! Just a bit of New Mexico cooking humor. I pointed it out to you in case you didn't recognize it. ;o) I am anxious to hear how your mom is doing. I looked up 'calabacitas' as it was a new one on me. I was thinking it might be more NM humor. But it's truly a 'thing'! Looks kind of tasty, too.

BECCA - glad your DH's tests are over with. Nice that he could get in earlier. sometimes waiting is the hardest part.

CHICKIE - if we get our thunder this afternoon as predicted, I'll be thinking of your little Boomer! Such a cutie, he is! All of them is!! When is Tasha arriving? do you have a plan yet for activities?

CAROL - what a nice, traditional, homey, American supper you had! Maybe we'll have meatloaf and mashed potatoes soon, too.

Tonite will be that tamale pie finally. With Mexican rice and refried beans on the side. And it will most likely be for two nights. and I might go all crazy and make some cranberry muffins, too, since I found cranberries in the freezer when I cleaned it out the other day.

Bon appetit`!

Lol Mary :)
Mom goes today for her results, Dad went yesterday and is good and goes back November1st for another chemo shot.
The kids will be here in about 15 minutes, I'm running behind.
We're going to have chicken I believe for supper.

Good morning from, right now, slightly overcast, but warm...We did have sun up until I put sheets in the washer and I'm wondering if that means, no hanging out today, darn......

Mary, sounds like you had another busy, productive day...You really don't let any grass grow under your feet, do you??? This whole thing with Jim is completely new to all of us..I do feel bad for Terry but he's very understanding...He was just happy his Dad called him a "nice young man"....last night he gave me a chuckle (in a way)...He asked if I had a way home and it might not be good if his wife came home and I was still here....And then 5 minutes later, he knows who I am, I think, lol....But, I think, most of the time, I'm that person who takes care of the house and then when I'm his wife, he'll tell me how much that other "she" works....After awhile, he's not the only one who is confused, lol.....
Yes, Terry is planning on moving up this way after Nick graduates and the house is sold...I can't wait!

Tina, Hoping and prayer for good news with your Mom...And thank goodness your Dad is good...it's time your family had some good news.....

Becca, How is DH doing...You and he also deserve to hear some good news....Hope your day is peaceful.....

Not too much happening around here, nice and quiet in the neighborhood...AND the sun just came back out so the sheets will make it to the line outside, thank goodness.....Also thinking about scrubbing some carpets that I've been meaning to do...

Not sure what might be on the menu...We haven't had chicken in awhile so just maybe, chicken, gravy, mashed potatoes....Jim just might be tempted......

Happy eating....................

Hello Everyone!
Maryz - You are here so early! I do get up early, however I don't get on here until I need a break. Sounds like we will see pictures of finished quilts very soon. The projects always look so much better quilted.

Becca - Guess you don't know results of tests yet. Yes it is to e expected that your DH is weak today. Hope he is feeling better tomorrow.

Tina - Sounds like good news for your Dad. Enjoy your kiddies!

Irish - Nice to know who the "other" woman is in your DH's life. Glad you have a good sense of humor. Remember you (and Becca) are in my prayers.

Tonight's dinner is fast hash. I have been adding tomatoes lately and really enjoying it. I have been running errands this morning. I went to bank, dry cleaners and picked up prescriptions. I also got a new gas cap, and now I am not sure I need it. The engine light came on yesterday and when I came home took off the gas cap and re-tightened it just sort of spun. I think I must have caught the tether, because today when I tried again it was fine. Now if the engine light goes off!! I will let you know.

Have a great day everyone!
Carol

Good afternoon… heat wave! No end in sight. Aaaak!!! This will be the norm until whenever… could be late September. No rain. I watered last evening and will keep doing it every evening and some of the container plants during the day as well.

Tonight will be the zucchini “lasagna”, but I had to make some little ravioli (packaged) so there would be some pasta to go under the lasagna. It was real good, and DH really liked it. Tonight… warm ups plus zucchini, tomatoes with or without salad and maybe some cookies for dessert. I don’t want to cook!

DGD will return Friday evening. I’ll be cooking then with her helping.

Irish—I’d be happy to put my laundry on the lines and have to run out and bring it in because of rain! We had “scruffy” towels, because the wind didn’t blow and fluff them. Everything hung lank in the sun. So glad you see humor when the AZ drops someone else in your house and takes away Jim for awhile. (See to Becca…)

Becca—same with you. Laughter is better than crying, although I know it’s difficult sometimes. With MIL, we laughed, but I also had a couple of meltdowns when it got really rough. You and Irish both have my total admiration and support!!! HUGS to you both!!!

Carol—I’m getting some tomatoes, but it’s so hot the blooms aren’t setting very well. I ate two nice ones for breakfast today with some toast. Tomatoes are what makes summer bearable! And, of course… having DGD visit!!!

Mary—I don’t know what Tasha and I will do this time. I’m sure she may have something in mind! She’s such a character!

Jana—happy new tablet!

Tina—I hope your mom has good results! You deserve good news—happy for your dad!

Enjoy!
