SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, July 30th
Good Morning!
We were wakened again at 3:30. I thought it was coyotes again, but it's that same big dog that woke us last week. He sounds like a big, scary monster when he barks. Scared us the first few times we heard him. I think he's new to the neighborhood. Scottie is NOT happy about this! lol!! We can never, ever complain to any neighbors about their dog barking 'cuz we have Scot. And when he has something to say, he gets it out!
IZZY - I often find good fabric at thrift shops. Average price about $1/yd.
TINA - glad your mom got through her procedure. Will pray for good results. Will she go home today?
BECCA - I guess I don't understand chiggers. Fingernail polish? I was thinking of something you could spray the yard with or sprinkle on the ground. I'm just glad we don't have them here!
CHICKIE - I love cold pizza for breakfast, too. So that makes two of us in the world. Should we report your to the SPCA for hooligan abuse? Not enough treats!? Shame on you!
JANA - every detail you cite makes that neighbor of yours sound even more idiotic! I wonder if he learned his lesson. I doubt it!
IRISH - miss you! Love you!
We have been having a bit of a lull in the action around here this week. It feels so nice to not have any appointments, commitments, errands, etc. the house is mostly clean and it's not time for laundry yet. and the yard is holding its own. I can sew or read and not feel guilty at all! This is like a magical moment in time!
Our chicken stroganoff was so good last night. We have a little left. Enough to make a one dish meal tonite from the noodles, sauce, and add some peas to it. With a salad on the side. And corn on the cob. and ice cream for dessert.
And what's the plan at your house?

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, July 30th
Good morning! I’m off to town in a few—coffee with my friend, my visit with Mom and lunch with her, then grocery shopping. Sometimes I get up early and go to the store, then pack my perishables in ice packs, but it’s just too hot these days to do that for 5 or 6 hours. I don’t take any chances. As it is, I take ice packs for the ride home.
The Hooligans must have been back up to Scottie last night. They wanted out about that time here—or maybe they got the big dog stirred up. I don’t know what it was, but they didn’t let me sleep for an hour or maybe more. Maybe they were rebelling for being in the house yesterday while we went to lunch. Maybe they are mad because they aren’t getting a full diet of treats. They DO get treats when Tasha isn’t here—just not a constant flow! I keep telling her to back off, but she can’t help herself with Boomer.
Jana—that is one crazy, dangerous neighbor! I think the neighborhood association should have some enforcement???
We will have a lull here for a few days until DGD returns. It’s nice to have the house to ourselves, but there’s no way I’m not going to have her come… that will be too soon when she outgrows us for her friends and driving and activities there and will be too busy for the slow pace here. Although… I must say, it’s never SLOW when she’s here!!!
My friend is bringing some zucchini today for me. I’m thinking stuffed zucchini boats, fresh tomatoes, and whatever else I can add to the mix later. Right now… off to town… but first a round of treats so they won’t be too mad at me!
Enjoy!

Hello everyone,Seems a tad cooler here but I guess I'm wishing for cooler temps.
Maryz You paint the chigger after it is on your body & it kills it.I know of nothing you can put on ground or bushes for them. They don't get on me here but my neighbor goes wild with them.
Chickie I too would be more than willing for Tasha to come because she will get too big too fast.Hope Mom is good today health wise.
Jana We used to have a neighbor that set forest fires. He finally stopped after they sent him off for Mental evaluation. It is very scary to have someone like that. You wonder how does their mind work.
Tina Glad Mom got thru her procedure.Hope all goes well with her & Your Dad.And you as you wear a lot of hats.
Irish Wishing you & Jim a peaceful day.
We have green beans left will add corn on cob,Stir fri chicken strips. Becca

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, July 30th
Good early afternoon from rainy, warm, Sw. Pa....We had some boomers this morning and then rain and now just dreary....It's supposed to be like this most of the day and then again tomorrow but we'll see...The weather people just might be wrong, lol......
Mary, isn't it good to have that lull, it is almost magically...The only time we have a barking dog is when Terry brings Scout and Scout doesn't like to sleep in the basement by himself and he lets you know..Terry has found, if they put him in the car in the garage, he's fine....I guess he thinks he's going somewhere, silly dog....AND Jake our feral came home...Not sure where he was but he must have had a rough time, he's doing a lot of resting today, little bum!
Becca, huge thank you for the peaceful wishes and so far, it's working.....Jim seems more calm the last couple of days and it's great....There are times, we can almost carry on a conversation but then he gets so frustrated when he knows what he wants to say and it just won't come out...But, I'm leaning to almost read his mind...I guess after 62 years, that does happen, lol....
Chickie, I so agree about never, ever telling the "kids" not to come...I'm still missing Kathy's girls and they've been gone from this area for quite some time...And my Nicky, don't get me started, lol.....I also have a neighbor, Donna, who I now call the "bag lady"..She is constantly bringing me cukes and zucchini...And just the other day, I did make zucchini boats but Jim wasn't thrilled, I on the other hand, loved them and ate every bite, lol....So far, only 1 ripe tomato...Last evening when Donna stopped, we were being nebby and walked around the neighbor's garden...We were both so upset, couldn't see straight...They had ripe tomatoes falling off the plants and rotting and the rest of the garden was filled with weeds...They have to be the laziest people I've ever seen.....
But speaking of lazy, here I sit on my duff having iced tea...But, I do have clothes in the washer and just need to vacuum the upstairs and catch some dust bunnies downstairs.....Jim just decided, he was going to take a nap an then later we will go to Dan's house to spoil his fur babies....He went to DC this weekend so he won't be at breakfast in the morning.....
I don't think too much ahead about our dinner...It depends on Jim...last night I had a scrambler and he loved it, thank goodness....I do want to make a peach cobbler for tomorrow and maybe a cinnamon/swirl bunt cake (most of it will go home with Terry).....
So, off to do something, even if it's wrong.....
Have a great day, happy eating.............

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, July 30th
Good afternoon!
With all the excitement from yesterday - dinner will be simple - tortilla soup.
The excitement - Kate pulled a huge muscle spasm in her neck at work and I still had Matt's kids and the minivan - thank goodness - so I had to make a run to her work and get Gracie. Matt was home, so I gave him back his kids early and the van too. Michael followed me with our car and Ethan. There are carseat laws, well, Kate had taken my carseat for Gracie in her mom's car and forgot it. So, I broke the laws two ways, put Gracie in Ethan's big booster and Ethan just in the seat belt. Didn't get caught - but I will get my carseat back! Kate spent most of the day in the ER get checked out. Now she is here being quiet and on all kinds of drugs! When it rains it pours around here!
I was using a groovy board on my LA and didn't pay attention as I started back across the baby quilt, caught the foot between the fabric and the batting and stitched it down very hard - took Michael and me to release all the threads. I thought that I was doing so well - see what thought gets! So I took a break and now will go back and finish it. those groovy boards are wonderful - like training wheels on a bike. Keeps you where you should be. Well most of the time.
Enjoy!
