SUPPER CLUB - Sat, June 25th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Jun 25, 2016 3:25 am

Good morning!

I had a nice chatty post almost ready to go and Foxy walked across my keyboard and it all went *POOF!*. Bad kitty! But I still love him.

CHICKIE - Glad you got some rain! I hate when you have to drag hoses around and water. I hated it even worse when I had to do it! So when Bill retired I turned the watering over to him. and he hated it, too! So now every spring he puts out a series of hoses/PVC pipe/ and sprinklers and set it all on timers. And he takes it all down in the fall. Now the watering does itself. Have fun in Edna. Buy yourself some cotton candy!

IZZY - do you have a sibling who can watch your dad so you can get away? My brother, Jim, and I would trade off being 'on call' for our dad. Is the option of a few days respite care in a care center a possibility?

BECCA - I'm with you on bologna! I watched a video once on how it's made . . . Enough said on that!

JANA - bet your house is looking festive and patriotic! I sewed my R/W/B swap blocks together yesterday so I'm getting into the season myself!

IRISH - I always worry about you, Jim, and the eagles when you take a day off.

TINA - I'm worry you've melted!

This morning is one last sewing session before the RV factory comes to put on the catered BBQ for us - 150 people this year. They also give out a door prize to every rig which can be anything from a folding footstool to a lawn game to a BBQ, to a TV. They are very generous! Later this afternoon we need to start packing up and then run to Safeway for vanilla yogurt and fresh berries so we can make our usual parfaits for the farewell potluck breakfast in the morning. We have at least 350 miles to travel tomorrow, so I probably won't be at the table in the morning, but trust me - it won't hurt for me to miss a few tables! lol!

I hope your kitchen isn't too hot!

Hello Maryz & everyone,Another hot one here today.

Maryz I know all I need to know on the Bologna subject.Have a great BBQ day.Sounds like they are generous.

Chickie I too am watering plants. My neighbor waters the garden .I Have my tomatoes & peppers in his garden as the deer eat everything here.Last nite they ate all my black eye Susan's,& 5 of my sedums that had blooms on them. That is the price I pay to see deer.

Irish Thinking of you & sure understand where you are.Dr told my DH about 4 yrs ago that he had dementia. He gets aggatatied very easily.Which he didn't before.

Izzy Sure hope you can get the trip worked into your plans.Hard when you're the caregiver.

Tina Sure hope you find a cool shady spot or AC.

I plan to make turkey sausage, with sauerkraut. And I have some garden peas to make.
Have a happy Saturday...... Becca

Good morning!

Mary - so good to see you - you do a wonderful job of setting the table. Good luck in the drawing - maybe this year is the big win! I still need to assemble my R/W/B blocks as well and get my flag quilt, quilted.

Becca - you are a very patient person! DHs can be trying at times, but you handle everything well!

Dinner - well we are running to Costco and I think I will pick up some banned PNW treat for dinner tomorrow and something for the grill tonight. I also need a box of popsicles for the freezer for all my little gremlins.

Enjoy!

Hi Maryz and all the other gals at the table today.

wish we could all join you at the BBQ, sounds yummy!

We will have spaghetti tonight. Had Turkey Burgers last night. We have Dancing again tonight, so I don't want to have a lot of dishes to do. Want to get on those dancing boots and off we go!!!

Good to visit with you all again. Even though I miss the supper club here a lot, I am still eating good. Not going without, that's for sure. LOL.

Have a great Saturday!!!

Good late afternoon from warm, sunny, gorgeous, SW. Pa...Another purrrrfect day here in the east.....

Mary, don't mean to worry you, Jim and the eagles are as well as can be expected, I think...But, with Jim, you just never know what to expect, lol....I love to read about your camping episodes and this sounds like a super good time...As Jana said, maybe this year will be the big win....
And the young eagle is getting along quite well at rehab...The infection at the break site is clearing up and he/she's back in the small flight enclosure and able to take short flights to strengthen the wings....

Becca, I know what you mean about having the deer and other critters....Even though I put my beans in the middle of the garden and have a fence around it, something cot under the fence and ate some of the beans and part of a cucumber plant...The deer just reach over the fence and nibble on the tomatoes.....Hopefully, I will have something left for us.....So far, the black eyed Susans and the sedums are ok but they do like my hostsa....
I know what you mean about the DHs getting agitated and I really have to watch what I say..Sometimes all I have to do is look at him funny and it sets him off.....Patience, patience, patience, which is hard, especially for me.....Thank you, Becca.....

I had a call to help with the luncheon after a funeral this morning...There were about 50 people and the 4 of us helped set up, serve and then clean up...It's a good mission and I hated to tell them no.....

As for our dinner, that's kind of iffy....Jim has been getting real restless around 5:00, wanting to "go home" so I'm thinking, I'm going to start taking him for a ride and stop and pick up something along the way...I'm hoping when we pull in the garage, he'll be satisfied that he's home......And you all know my car, for sure we won't go hungry..............

Happy eating...............

Tina—so glad to hear from you!! It has been HOT here, too. The temperature was in the upper 80s today, but the heat index was 105! We had a shower this morning—turned to steam. Sure makes it difficult to breathe. What a find, I hope, with the fabrics!!!

Becca—DDIL3 came by last evening and brought new potatoes, squash and cucumbers from their garden.

Carol—lucky you! Dinner out plus dinner ready tonight! Best wishes with your CT surgery. I never had mine done. It was debilitating for awhile, but my late DH was sick, so I just ignored it. It’s not as bothersome since I’m not banging a computer all day long.

Irish--good to see you! I vote for picking up dinner and taking it home. It's way too hot to cook.

Dinner tonight will be pork chops with fried apples, sautéed squash and zucchini (probably just for me), and smashed potatoes. I’m too lazy to make a salad. I had fruit earlier, so maybe that counts as salad along with the zucchini and squash.

Enjoy!
