SUPPER CLUB - Fri april 29
Good Morning, everyone!
We are almost ready for Mary Q's and Sue's visit. Today's "biggies" will be laundry and making hamburger buns for the first time ever. I'll have time to run to the store if they turn out ugh-oh. This is Judi's recipe. I made sure to use someone else's recipe so I'd have some where to place the blame if I needed to.
JANA - how could I forget sour cream and green onions and refried beans?? I know better, honest!! Your pantry sounds so organized! I do try to keep mine in order, too, and when we shop, I bring older food forward. But it's a pretty loosey goosey system I have compared to yours!
CHICKIE - that is so funny about the birds nesting in your clothespin bag! We had some nesting in the king pin of our fifth-wheel hitch, too, about 4 years ago. We were sweating it because we had a departure date to go somewhere and thought we'd have to delay. But all was good and the nest was empty the day before we were due to leave. At least that's what Bill told me . . . . BTW, no needles, no Rx needed to buy flea meds. The syringes are merely used to draw up the measured amount and deliver it onto the skin. We get Frontline Plus because it also includes tick protection. We don't have a tick (or heartworm) problem in this part of the country, but since we travel so much, our kids need protection. We usually get them from Pet Meds.com. Scottie also has an Rx med that he takes once a month so we get that there, too, but we had to fax in the Rx. Our vet suggested we go on-line because her prices are high. She only sells meds as a convenience to her patients. Don't frack Doyal! It will be a few days before I can start on those blocks anyway. Unless Mary and Sue feel like sewing . . . For those who don't know, Chickie is sending me some blocks to make a comfort quilt for Chriss's aunt. I might put the girls to work when they get here!
TINA - I'm so sorry you've been under the weather. Couldn't be stress, could it? . . . Not that there's anything in your life to be stressed about. Hope you are feeling up to snuff today!
IRISH - how wonderful that Regis, after a lifetime of doing what he's doing, still loves it! How many people can say that! All my brothers did what they love. And the oldest, at 81, is still doing it - long haul trucking in Alaska. Sorry you got scammed with the on-line meds. I'd be leery, too, if that had happened to me. And how are we going to get Jim to eat? We need to make nutritious foods disguised as cookies, I guess. Glad he likes Ensure. Our Jim hates it.
BECCA - sounds like your DD will be very busy this summer! Renting would be a better idea than buying the wrong house in haste. Is there a name yet for the new baby?
My tropical crisp turned out pretty good last night. I topped it with whipped cream. And it was a healthy recipe, too.
Tonite is still a mystery, but I did see some leftover marinara sauce in the fridge. I wonder if it's still good. County extension here says maximum life-span for leftovers is 5 days but many foods are 4 or even just 2 days. Hmmm.... There could always be hamburgers on the grill. We should test out our homemade buns, I suppose. So that's probably what we'll have.
Bon appetit`, y'all!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri april 29
Good morning from a kind of dreary, grey, little chilly, SW. Pa...Does Mother Nature know I NEED sunshine to get me going????All she has to do is look around this house and she'd see what I mean......
Mary, home made hamburger buns, you sure are ambitious...That and have your spring cleaning done, making us all look bad!I might have to give Petmeds a try....Our vet sells Front Line and it is expensive and we do have a problem with ticks, along with the fleas, in this area......I always laugh when I do the flea stuff, you would think I was really, really hurting "BabyGirl"...And then she hides for hours...If the package was in sight, Simba would run and hide...Silly, silly kids.....So, is tomorrow the day? Just a reminder, that bail fund is in place....Us in the east are preparing for the aftereffects from that earth quack when you gals get together.........
Becca, sounds like you're going to have a good day...Always fun to have those little ones around....Lots of hugs....
Tina, my heavens girl friend, you need a vacation on a tropical island, lots of rest, few umbrella drinks and get you better..Hope along with you, Mom and Dad are both on the mend.....
Jim's buddy, Ted, was just here...He's been taking care of some things in the downstairs bathroom...I swear, this guy can do everything and if he can't he'll figure it out...And if you need an unusual part, he'll make it...He's something, wonderful friend!
This afternoon, for sure, I do have to put on those "run around clothes" and get those long put off errands done....I'm going to try to talk Jim into riding with me but I know he doesn't like to go out with his bandages and I really can't blame him....
Mary, I like your idea of disguising his food to look like cookies, might have to try it....
With Jim being a Vet, he's able to get his Ensure through them, which is such a blessing...I just have to call and re-new his order when he runs low....
We did have a fun time at the card party last night AND I won a huge clothes basket full of baking stuff...Anything and everything you need plus cake and cookie mixes..I could hardly carry it in the house...Now to get rid of some of the old stuff, thank goodness...
And as for our dinner, I might have to rely on the banned food and make a "mac n cheese"/noodle casserole...It's one of Jim's favorites and I'm only trying to get him to eat....If not that, maybe the car will lead me/us to something good.....
Happy eating................

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri april 29
Good morning! I slept in my new jammies that I finished yesterday… they caused me to oversleep an hour! DH was late to geezer coffee!
Mary—enjoy the bun-making! I had a good recipe for them that I got from a friend. I haven’t made them in ages. If it’s Judi’s recipe, it’s gotta be good!!!
I’ll check out the petmeds.com and see how much they are. As you know, we definitely have ticks and heart worm. I do the Frontline Plus as well. I also use the Interceptor Plus for parasites. The Pet Vet has LOTS of selections of retail foods, gifts, toys, etc, along with her high-priced meds. The farm vet has only the meds. I got a bunch of free doses when I purchased in quantity.
No fracking for DH. He mailed them and groused about the price, except he had some distraction. He was standing at the window visiting with the postal clerk when a voice behind him growled “get you’re a-- out of the way before I have to remove it.” DH turned around, and it was one of the “geezers”. DH then started giving back, and his friend responded. They said it was priceless. The young clerk was wondering if he should call 911 for a brawl until he figured out they were just giving each other the business for his benefit. Everyone had a good laugh, and it softened the cost of mailing my blocks!
Irish—I know what you mean about the “packages” and fate worse than death with the Hooligans here, too. Crazy!!!
Becca—always busy at your house!!! Have a fun time and love those little ones for me!
I think we’ll do re-runs from last night… steak (DH), Mary-doesn’t-need-to-know for me, artichoke (me), baked sweet potato for each of us and a salad. There’s cake for DH for after… coffee for me.
Enjoy!

Good morning!
Living in the Mountain West, we are high enough in elevation that we don't need flea tick prevention on my kitty. I used the Frontline when we lived in California and it worked great on him. Sarah's kitty is flea free to and she is outside all the time.
Dinner - I have a couple of steaks that are marinating in the refrig - they were on the tough side, so they will marinate a couple of days. We are having brunch at Matt's on Sunday before Church with them. We are blessing Baden that morning. So that still leaves dinner - I am thinking, since I don't have Ethan today, that we may let the car decide where we eat today - a page out of Irish's book!
The HVAC guy is here and doing the estimate - we will do it, I am sure no matter how costly as that beam is a necessity. I am in the frame of reference - of - JUST DO IT!
Enjoy,
Jana
