SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, March 20th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Mar 20, 2016 3:27 am

Good Morning! from HOME!

It's so good to be home again. I was going to say it was great to sleep in our own bed but we WERE sleeping in our own bed. Just the mobile one! lol!

JANA - We're used to the Tacoma Narrows Bridge so crossing the Astoria Bridge probably isn't the big eye-opener to us that it is to non-bridge crossing folks. but it is high, steep, and narrow. I was busy taking pictures and forgot to look down! lol!

IRISH - so how did it go with the robotic competition yesterday? Thank you for the great welcome! Hope St. Pat's Day was a smash at your house!

CHICKIE - you and 'Tasha had such fun! But 25*?!! brrrr!! Bill isn't a lot of help around the house either, unless I ask. Then he'll do anything. But he makes it clear that I need to put in the formal request. Men are funny.

CAROL - you almost timed it purrfectly! As you posted yesterday you thought I must be home about then. You were only 30 minutes off! Cleaning silver and the oven for Easter? Wow. I haven't even given Easter a thought yet. I'm sure my kids already have other plans. It will be a quiet day here, I'm sure. Believe it or not, I'd kind of like to go camping if weather is decent. . . how crazy is that?!

I don't have a clue about supper tonite. I'm not ready to go grocery shopping yet, so options are limited. . . Maybe baked pork chops, scalloped potatoes, salad, and peas. but maybe not . . . I haven't checked my freezer yet.

What's the plan at your house?

I fixed DH one of his faves last evening (to be unmentioned here), and I had an artichoke and some of my chicken from Friday night. I just remembered there are some stuffed peppers in the other fridge, so that's on the menu tonight! Yaay, no cooking, but I'll be making up for that with laundry and floors today. Plus, it's Sunday, and DH expects pancakes for brunch.

I think I'm still recovering from all the fun we had last week. I'm sure tired! That, and Odie was a mess last night. He kept thinking he saw things outside and kept whining (howling) and pacing to go outside. No way could I get any sleep with his whining and howling punctuated by sharp barks. Then, he played the old game of running up on the porch and barking and barking. He would jump up and hit the door a few times like he wanted in, but when I got up and opened the door... off he ran into the darkness. I wouldn't let the other dogs out--silly me, thinking Odie would give up. Still, I held my ground, and FINALLY after an hour or more of no sleep in the zero-dark hours... he came in. Everyone slept well for awhile after that. I really like dark and stormy nights best, as the Hooligans like to stay inside then and give us peaceful sleep. These clear, moon-light nights are a disaster for my slumber time.

Good morning,

Mary - being the daughter of a bridge builder, those narrow spindly bridges still scare me! My dad helped to build all of the btidges in the Bay Area, all except for the new stupid one they just built! It is a sore spot with me that they are now tearing down one of my dad's. At least the Golden Gate will stay.

Chickie - my cat does the same thing. In the middle of the night he will run through the house yowling as loud as he can. DH then threatens him with being locked in the basement, then we usually have peace and quiet.

Dinner - have no idea. Church is quite late this afternoon for us, so it may be grilled cheese and soup. We will see.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good Morning Everyone,
Breakfast out after Mass was very good. I need to do some baking. Weather hear is somewhat foggy and about 60* (cool). I need to finish the laundry, too, just one load.

Tonight's dinner is definitely out. We are having DH's birthday celebration dinner out tonight, then Tuesday I will come up with something here at home with dessert. (I still need to go to the store.)

Maryz - I actually realized I probably was off about 30 minutes, but you might have stopped somewhere. Glad you are home, I have missed your posts.

Jana - I know you said you rotate the start times for church and this late start can't be a favorite if it interferes with dinner.

Chickie - Like Jana's cat our cat cries too when we are in bed. She gets one of her mice or one of my slippers and cries many nights when we first turn out the lights, but also sometimes during the night. We are not sure why. If we give her attention just before bed it seems to help her. If she is asleep when we go to bed she wakes up and cries. It is so pathetic. Wish I knew why she cries.

I need to get baking and cleaning some more.
Have a great day everyone!
Carol

Hello from nippy Carolina today. After our gorgeous days this feels cold. And the skies are gray.Used to the sun.Guess we got spoiled.

Maryz I am with Jana on bridges. The one going Tampa used to scare me.I am not a lover of high bridges at all.

Chickie Your fur babies sure rob you of sleep but I know they also give lots in return.I love hearing about your trips you take them on.

We are having chicken tenders, green beans, salad, Becca
Carol7 You always post later & I miss you.Glad retirement is in sight. And you must be having a big bunch for Easter. We are supposed to go to DDs if DH is up to it.After the morning he had I am doubtful.Today is a day of confusion. Not good to have to watch but that is life & you make the best of it.

Good afternoon from a dreary, cold, Sw. Pa..AND would you believe we're even having that white nasty stuff falling from the sky, not much but it's there and that usually means, cold!

Oh, how nice to have Mary get the table ready..Good to see so many thinking about eating today, lol....

I'm with most of you with the bridges, I don't like the high ones and the one that really got me was the Bay bridge in Tampa Bay...We were driving down one year and decided to go through Tampa (dumb) and then of course we had to go over that bridge..Well, it was the year, the barge had run into the bridge and half of it was gone...It was 1 lane each way and not too much room between you and the guide rail and then lots of water...I told Jim, never again would I travel that way...So darn scary....

And you know, all cats must have that same habit...One of our's, Kelly, will cry during the night and I thought maybe she was looking for Babygirl or maybe feeling lonely...Silly fur kids! And do you all get a toy in your food dish? Every morning, Kelly will leave us one of her toys in her dish, as a reward I guess.....

We went to early Mass and then onto breakfast, which was purrrfect....I'm kind of debating whether to cook for the tribe next Sunday or take them out, which would be so much easier....We then came home, changed clothes and both of us went and had a hair cut...Now, it's time for a cup of tea and watch the robotics finals...The kids aren't doing as well as they'd like but might make it to the finals....My eyes were doing flip flops yesterday...There were 46 matches and so exciting....Not sure how many today....

And as for supper, I can't think that far ahead...Being a cold day, could be a good day for soup and if not, we'll see what drops from the freezer.....

Happy eating...........

Eagle update:
We have a PIP in 1 of the eggs in the nest near me...It's just a tiny hole and might take all day for the eaglet to hatch but it's a start to a very exciting time...And then there are 2 more eggs to go....

In the Washington nest, they have 2 eaglets....So darn cute....

Irish - Last night on the news they showed the eagle in the Washington nest, unfortunately they were only able to tell the audience about the eaglets who were keeping warm under mama.

Becca - Sorry you are having to watch the decline. I bet he wishes you didn't have to watch too. Prayers are with you! Are you feeling better?
