SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Feb 5th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Feb 05, 2016 12:35 am

Good EARLY morning!

Sleepless here, so I thought I'd check into the forum. Not much time during the day for computering. I'm still in cooking mode here, but that will probably slack off some. My brother left to fly back to Alaska yesterday and I warned the girls the big meals were coming to an end. We'll be back to chick food soon. lol!

My middle brother joined the rest of us for breakfast yesterday. As we were all sitting around the table afterward visiting, we suddenly heard this loud CRASH from the kitchen! Stopped all the chatter immediately and we all swung around to see poor Scottie, his paw caught in the dishwasher rack and the rack, plus dishes (the good ones, naturally!) all in the middle of the kitchen floor, silverware scattered around the room! Oh my, did we laugh! Long and hard! Scot finally got free of the mess and ran out of the room, but returned quickly to growl and bark at the rack! and we all started laughing again! What a funny ruckus! And not a single dish broke!

I think we needed that! Stress here has been high. Jim isn't doing well, and June has a cold that I think she is going to share with me. Which means no going to see Jim. After a 4-hour round trip (during 'rush' hour) run to the airport, we were happy to get home to a crockpot of turkey noodle soup. I think we ate it all up!

IRISH - isn't it fun to spruce up a room! So what all do you change in the bathroom? rugs? towels? shower curtain? Love the 'baby report'!

CAROL 7 - your pizza made me think that might be a good idea for a supper for my sisters. Thanks!

LADY CAROL - haha! I'm still chuckling over how you tucked your wool into the suitcase and your FQ's into your purse! We do what we have to!

CHICKIE - I hadn't thought of it that way, but I think you are right - all the cooking and kitching cleaning I've been doing HAS been therapeutic! Thanks!

BECCA - I so feel for your friend, his family, and for you. And also pray for your eye surgery and that all goes well there. Let us know when the date is set. Wish I could be there to help!

JANA - I know your birthday and Sarah's is coming up soon! Enjoy that birthday certificate! Our LQS stopped doing that. :o(

Now on to supper. There will be Bill and my two sisters to feed. I'm thinking grilled cheese and tomato basil soup or homemade pizza (thank you, Carol!) if I find I have the makings on hand. A week ago my freezer was overflowing and now it's half-empty! But I do still have a meatloaf in there and also some round steak to make swiss steak in the crockpot. I can assure you none of us are starving!! lol!

What's happening at your house tonite?

Oh, Mary! What a laugh!!! You definitely needed the stress buster even though it was at poor Scottie’s expense! I can't believe nothing broke! So far, The Hooligans haven’t messed with the dishwasher… so far. Scottie can teach them about the wonders of “helping” and what they might find to lick. LOL!

So sorry the news about Jim isn’t better. Seems like the colds accompany stress when your immune system is too tired to fight off germs. HUGS!!!

We had vegetable soup last night with crusty rolls… yummy! DGD is coming this evening, so I’m not sure yet what will be on the menu… probably grilled cheese sandwiches with the soup that is leftover. Some people (former co-workers of DH’s that he hasn’t seen in 10 years) are coming around lunch time (just found out last evening), so we’ll go up to the corner for burgers… Besides, those are GOOD burgers!!!

If you come to my LQS during your birthday week, you get 15% off non-sale merchandise. It might be the entire ticket… can’t remember—ka-ching!!!

Hope things look up for Jim and your family!!!

Good afternoon from sunny and just as Becca said, cold, wintery, Sw. Pa....But, that sun sure looks good.....

Oh Mary, feel so bad about Jim, have been praying for better news...AND then for you to "think" about getting a cold, that's not good! As I told Terry, who also has a cold, keep drinking that "grape juice"....Oh my poor Scottie, but what a funny story...And as Chickie, said, a great stress reliever....I am changing everything but the shower curtain, (just because I love it)...All the towels and wash cloths are going to live with Stephan at school, curtains are being made this afternoon and hopefully everything will be done...Well, not really everything...I have carpeting in that bathroom and want to get a replacement which means a trip to the carpet store and then me cut it and install it...And then it will be done, probably around May or June, lol.....

Lady Carol, I love, love your way of "shopping"..As Mary said, you do what you gotta do! I can remember leaving the bags in the trunk of the car until Jim went to sleep and then retrieving them....Now, he even helps unload the trunk, lol.....So happy you are back, love, love your posts....

Becca, I don't know why you say, you don't cook, we've seen your menus....I have a cast iron dutch oven and hardly ever use it...I got it after seeing, I believe it was Judi, bake bread in her's...Of course I never made the bread but every once in awhile, I'll pull out the pot and use it....AND will certainly keep you in my thoughts and prayers...

Well, today is visiting Mt. Washmore and then sewing....Fun day, huh???

And for dinner, I think pizza is the "meal of the day"...I have some French bread pizza in the freezer that I can pop in the oven and call it dinner....Works for me....Not sure if I'm going to bake anything today or let Jim suffer.....

Happy eating...........

Good afternoon!

BURR cold here - we might see 26 for the high. But the great they have said no more storms for a week or more and we will get above freezing, not that saying much. LOL

I am feeling salsa deficient, so dinner out may be in order. I can talk Michael into that.

Mary - praying that the med situation gets resolved. Scottie knows just what was needed this morning. Glad everything survived.

Becca - when is the eye surgery scheduled for? Eye surgeons have come such a long way. I remember as a child that my dad had cataracts removed and all that involved. So different today.

Chickie - enjoy the company. I could go for lunch out.

Off to the Batt Cave,
Enjoy,
Jana, frozen nanook of the west!
