supper club - Sunday, Nov 29th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Nov 29, 2015 3:20 am

Happy Sunday!

The weekend is winding down and now it's truly Christmas Season. I love it! We tried to cut a tree yesterday and saw a U-cut Xmas Trees sign near our house. So we started driving and we covered every road in this area, but never found the tree farm and never saw another sign. So this morning we're traveling further afield, but need to be home in time for the 1:30 game. Playing the Steelers today.

CHICKIE - are you counting? 26 sewing days left! What's left on your list? Do you need Tina to come over and help you? That girl can squeeze a quilt out of a TV commercial break!

IRISH - so happy you had a nice holiday. Sorry some had to go back to NC, but will they be back for Christmas? How old is Nicky now? He's forever 12 in my mind. So nice and generous of you to donate fabric to your new friend's good cause. I bet she was thrilled to get it! Will you be watching OUR game today?

TINA - so funny how your head count fluctuated! Bill's family is like that, too. They will come, they won't, maybe, probably not, and then they show up on the doorstep at 9am while we're still in jammies trying to get the turkey in the oven and they sit in the living room and talk for four hours and leave just as dinner is ready to serve! They drive me crazy!!

BECCA - your little DGK's are so cute! Sounds like Mama is giving them some good lessons!

JANA - so we can blame your rule-breaking supper on Sarah?? OK, works for me. This time. I would love to make turkey soup, but the smell of the carcass simmering makes my big sensitive guy sick. He can't take it. So I gave up and only cook turkey breasts now. and I make pot pies, casseroles, pasties, and sandwiches with the leftovers. But I do miss homemade turkey noodle soup.

We had "lupper" with DH's family yesterday at olive Garden, and brought home leftovers for tonite. And we still have ham from TG that our DDIL sent home with us. So we're still good for a few nights.

Bon Appetit`!

Good morning! I’m here, and I’d love Tina to come over and help me!!! I have two wall hangings to finish and a couple more table runners to make. I’d also like to finish four that I started last year… (red face… I know, I should be wearing Boomer’s cone of shame… sigh! I just have such good intentions…).

Oh, yeah… I also have a couple of kitchen towels and matching pot holders to do… Perhaps I should make a list…

I’m hoping to finish sewing early enough to make some decorated sugar cookies. I miss making them. My DD’s family really likes them, and DH does, but the rest of the bunch over here… not so much. They are stuck on chocolate chip cookies.

MaryZ—We have cedar trees on the farm… they smell good! Unfortunately, they drop their needles and those buggers stick in carpets and crannies for months. I think they hide until the next year! I still love the smell of them! Good luck finding your cutting place! That’s crazy about DH’s family, but I have seen it here! I also never know a true head count. I’m thinking Christmas dinner will be here since I got out of Thanksgiving.

Irish—that’s so nice of you to donate your fabric! There will be a lot of Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas from your generosity!!!

Jana—enjoy the music! I miss turkey and noodles. I always boil the carcasses for the broth and meat. Maybe I’ll do turkey at Christmas just for the noodles…

Becca—I haven’t gotten much sewing since Thanksgiving cooking started. But... this week… I MUST get back on it! I have go to my LQS for my BOM on Thursday. I also need to catch up on my BOMs… Every year I vow not to over extend myself…

Tina—that head count was crazy!!! I’m sure you have a gray hair or two after that! Glad you had the food… unfortunately not so many leftovers. Since we went to DS2’s, we didn’t have any leftovers. No care packages our way.

Dinner tonight… I think it will be steak. I cooked some KC strips last evening with baked potatoes and Brussels sprouts… pumpkin pie for afters. There is enough of everything for repeats tonight.

Off to the Christmas sewing…

Mary, LOL you made me laugh :-) a tv commercial break :-) I was a little agitated when Holly said they weren't going to come eat because I had just double confirmed Tuesday that they were because I had a 25 pound turkey and a big ham! But when she sent the text apparently I was supposed to have esp because she meant they wouldn't be able to come early to help but they'd be here to eat. Her text said: they are going to Bayard would be back by 6 and she'd see me later. Now you see why I thought they weren't coming? She laughed when she got here cause I said I thought she wasn't coming. I didn't make her scalloped potatoes because of her goofy message and Kevin told her: serves you right LOL but there was tons of food and everyone ate too much and took plates home so we only have a little ham, turkey and I think Frankie has some mashed potatoes left. That's all good with me because I hate throwing it away after several days.
Becca, I seem to always cook for an army at holidays too :-) I loved having everyone over, to me that's what makes the holidays :-)
Tonight will probably be pretty much the last of the leftovers, Frankie will eat the ham and potatoes and we'll have salad and I'll just chop some ham and turkey up in my salad. We might still have a small amount of turkey left after tonight, if so I'll see what I can make with it for Monday :-)

My kitchen and dining room look like a colorful bomb went off in it afterwards though LOL. Holly tries making them like she sees on pintrest but welllll let's just say she tries ;-) LOL I'd be stopping by your house for some, that's for sure :-) Holly and Jaz too :-)

Good late afternoon from dreary, cold, yucky, SW. Pa....We've had just about everything BUT snow, which I'm thankful for.....
But, I guess the weather is purrrrfect for wearing the black arm bands in this house....
Jana, that was a game, right up to the final couple of seconds.....

Not too much happening in this "quiet" house this afternoon....My boys left after breakfast this morning...Stephan was anxious to get back to school but I know, Terry didn't want to leave...BUT, they all will be back for Christmas, Nicky included....
Mary, Nicky is 16, well over 6' tall, got contacts and is quite a "ladies man" although he doesn't know it, yet...Terry said, it's quite funny watching the girls trying to impress him....
AND for sure I'll be watching out game and I'll be rooting against the Steelers...Doesn't sound too loyal but that's the way it is.....

As for our dinner, there is just a tiny bit of left overs which might make it to the table...If not, there's always grilled cheese and soup......

Happy eating....................
