SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Nov 17th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Nov 17, 2015 3:41 am

Good morning!

We have a doozy of a storm today. Been raining HARD all night, will rain for the next few days and we're to have winds 40-60 mph. We probably won't lose power because we rarely do. So I think I'll stay hunkered in the sewing room today.

CHICKIE - Actually, my countdown was the number of sleeps until the winter equinox, not until Christmas. So give yourself an extra few 'sleeps'! Though with the length of your list, those 'sleeps' will probably turn into 'sews'! lol! You are such a good doggie gramma.

TINA - how are you feeling? Did you have your burgers for supper last night? That sounds so summery. I could use a touch of summer about now. What are you working on today?

BECCA - are the quilts you make for people in your congregation? community? overseas missions? I think a worthy project would be to make quilts just big enough to nap under and fold at the foot of the bed for nursing home residents. So this winter, when we are south, that might be a project I'll take on, just sewing block after block and put them together when I get home. I'm afraid to call the facility and ask how many they could use.

JANA - so how much snow did you get? The national news had quite a story on the snow in SLC. And your elevation is higher than the city, right? Is Sarah all settled in now? I remember one move we made when I was 25. I had the house all put together in one day! Of course, we didn't own much in those days! And I WAS 25. Now just the THOUGHT of moving sends me to bed with aspirin and a cool cloth for my brow!

Today I should finish my 'clam' quilt top. Then I'm not sure what's next up in my sewing room. I have two fabric Van Gogh "paintings" that I bought in a quilt shop in Palmer, AK. Irises. My DD and older sister both love iris. So they may be next on my worktable.

As for our supper, I'm thinking chicken, corn, rice, veggie soup or chowder. We'll see how it morphs. and I think I'll start it early, in the crockpot. and maybe some of JANA'S secret recipe - those Red Lobster biscuits. We could even split the biscuits and have the soup served over them . . . (saw that on TV and it looked good!)

Hope your supper plan comes together easily and quickly!

We have been storming all night, and now it’s just drizzle and rain. The dogs hate storms, and each lightning flash and thunder boom brought their heads up—all wild-eyed. I’m sure they didn’t sleep well. They are all still abed… the living room looks like a sleepover with dogs sprawled on all the sofas after a sleepless night. Odie is still in our bed.

Mary—thanks for the extra sews! I’m so ready to go back to daylight time and longer days!!! That’s a great idea for quilt donations! MIL loved her “nap time” quilt when she was in the nursing home. I was limited on fabrics, and it could have been a little longer, but she used it all day every day.

So glad to hear Irish turned her corner the right direction!!!

Jana—it’s just too early for snow here, but it has happened… I’m never ready for it.

Those Red Lobster biscuits are soooo good!!!

We still have taco soup, and it’s still goomy and raining… I could add chili powder to it and make it more of a veggie chili with a different taste from the last two nights. Or, I could thaw something else… Too early to think… Well, I have been hearing pizza calling my name, and I do have mozzarella, Italian sausage and pepperoni… (and veggies to add to my side)… That might make the kitchen smell yummy and warm…

Enjoy!

Good morning,

Don't believe anything you hear on the news - what snow? It did snow most of the day, but the wind was fierce and just blew it away. I have no snow on the ground. It fell in the mountains and the resorts are jumping for joy. I am above the main valkey floor by about a1000 feet. We are protected, usually from the brunt of the storms by the Oquirrh Mountains, just to the west of me.

Dinner - Michael will still be eating soup, and I will have a turkey sandwich. Practicing for Thanksgiving.

Enjoy,
Jana
