SUPPER CLUB - Sun., Nov 8th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Nov 08, 2015 3:36 am

Good morning! We are having a RAINY weekend here! As long as I have something to do inside, I don't mind. but we went to Costco yesterday morning in hard, driving rain - just after I'd spent 15 minutes fixing my hair for my DIL's birthday party. DH did drop me at the door, thankfully.

And we didn't eat at the party. It was at a wine bar, where only appetizers are served. We got some bruschetta (I'm sure that's not spelled correctly!) and the champagne was flowing. So we got home about 7:30pm, after a long, dark, rainy drive, hungry. Eggs, tomatoes, and cottage cheese to the rescue!

CHICKIE - I hope you don't get 'crunched'! You might have to wrap up IOU's for Christmas! Or else give towels and glasses this year and count yourself as having a head start on next year's gifts. And yes, Emily seemed to LOVE her dog quilt - or else she's a very good actress! But she IS a very good DIL!

TINA - our party was at 3, too! Only we had champagne and -darn! Now I have to try to spell that word again! - bruschetta? Good plan to just put this year's gifts off to next year and go with something else. I am giving no handmade gifts for Christmas this year. We bought jack-knives for all our guys and earrings for all our girls while in Alaska. Poof! Christmas shopping done!

IRISH, your Baby Girl must have needed that nap to have slept for so long and what a good kitty mom you are to help her through it! and chips sounds OK for supper to me!!

BECCA - I'd take those baby pines! Not sure they'd like my woodsy wetlands property though. And laundry! what's with that?? How can two people produce 4 loads a week?? 5 if I do the sheets!

tonite's supper, if DH concurs, will be meatloaf, baked potatoes, corn, and salad. And the meatloaf is already made and in the freezer. Easy peasy! Or make that easy 'corny'.

What sounds good to you tonite?

Good morning,

The rain stayed away - Sarah is all unpacked from the trailers and the pod. Now it's the game of finding the box! LOL

Dinner here is pork chops, stuffing and a veggie. Maybe I will make a goodie too.

Should be quiet, but we will see.

Enjoy!

Hello to all,
Cloudy here & rain is due tomorrow.Has turned cooler.

Maryz I pull up maples & pines.Of course when you have so many trees you discourage any more unless they are dogwood.

Jana Glad the move is over.I used to really label when I moved so it would be easier when unpacking.Lots of work anyway you do it.Glad your Brunch went well.

With the neighbors coming our supper just may be the refreshments we are having. She told me she was bringing pumpkin cheesecake along with some of her specialty teas & coffee for us.I told her I always serve my guests but she insisted this is what she enjoys. So I agreed.
Have a great day...Becca

Good afternoon! What a lovely day here!!! Had a blast yesterday with my DD, DGD and DGS who came for lunch with Mom and me; then she sent us out to the farm to enjoy the great weather. We spent the afternoon hiking the pastures and trails and ended up herding cows that had gotten into DS3’s deer food plot—a major “no! no!” for him. Those cows just love that sweet clover!

Last evening we went out to dinner with friends, and I brought home half of my dinner. I also brought home half of my big lunch salad. Which brings me to tonight’s fare… salad for me, my steak remains for DH, the baked potato that he didn’t eat and whatever I find to fill in around the edges… Not a problem, I’m sure!

Today I’m going to chop green peppers for freezing, freeze jalapeños, and maybe get some jalapeño jam made. DS3 brought in all the produce before the freeze and offered peppers to me. I stuck my hand out, and here I am. I’m also hanging out my laundry and reveling in the glorious fall day.

Mary—I’m sure your DDIL doesn’t have to act over the delightful doggy quilt!!! Unfortunately, you need the rain to keep your Emerald City verdant.

Becca—DD brought cheesecake yesterday for lunch… soooo yummy! Hers wasn’t homemade, but it was still delicious! I’ll be there to try out the teas and coffees!

Jana—Sarah is making remarkable progress! At least she didn’t have things in storage for a year—some of the boxes might at least be recognizable.

I’m off to the kitchen to chop, dice and whatever… Enjoy today! Enjoy dinner!

Well, it appears that I have lied to you once again.. No meatloaf here tonite. Instead we are going to my brother's for ham, baked potatoes and squash (I didn't tell DH about the squash. It's better if he's surprised. ) We are taking a salad. My brother requested a strawberry rhubarb pie. I've never made one because I've never been married to anyone who could abide rhubarb. But I made one this morning from frozen rhubarb and fresh strawberries that I found at the store. I just took it out of the oven and it seems runny. Wish me luck! My brother's wife is the pie queen. And I usually don't supply pies for them because mine never quite 'measure up'.

CHICKIE - you gave me a fun memory from my childhood! Anyone who grows up with cattle (and I did!) is very familiar with the phrase, "the cows are out!". and then the roundup begins. Glad you finally got everyone corralled again.
