SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Nov 4th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Nov 04, 2015 3:25 am

Good Morning!

It didn't rain yesterday! And it's not going to today either! Yay!! But I won't complain when it does start again because we had such a dry winter and summer this past year. We need our rain or else we we'll lose our "Evergreen State" designation!

Fabric sale yesterday was nice. I bought only about 1/3 to 1/2 what I usually do at these semi-annual sales. That felt good when I got to the cash register. Also, when I was washing/folding all the fabric I did buy, I was glad there wasn't more! But when I go looking for the pieces I didn't get, I'll pose a frowny face, I'm sure.

CHICKIE - happy birthday to your mom!! 97 and still living a quality life. A gift few of us ever receive. And nice for you to know you have those genes! Your luncheon for her sounds like the purrfect celebration! Give her a hug for me! Sorry your DD and DGD are unable to make it.

BECCA - I hope that hand heels quickly. I worked in a burn unit for a short while. It's the most painful place in the hospital, I believe. You are really getting yourself all cleaned and organized! I have several of those plastic storage units in my sewing room. I like them because I can see through the drawers. But I still have them all labeled.

I wonder if IRISH survived the day out with her cohorts! And TINA must be busy with assignments handed to her by her teacher daughter! lol! JANA is busy this week with Ethan, her girls, and Sarah's move, I'm sure. And where are our CAROLs?? I do hope they are getting enough to eat!

I think our leftover, leftover casserole is done. On to new food! and that will be homemade pizza tonite. Turkey pepperoni, fresh veggies, olives, and 2 kinds of cheese. And a salad. YUM!

What's the plan for you tonite?

Good morning from a very sunny, gorgeous SW. Pa...This week, our weather has been great but......

Hey, I did survive my day our, barely! we left at 9:00 and I pulled back into our garage at 9:30 last night....My sister figured, she drove 226 miles...As I had said the other day, Cindy and I sit in the back seat and never know where we might end up...But, we started at Hermitage, Pa (cemetery filled with flags, unbelievable), then went to a Christmas store that actually took us about 3 hours to get through it...One whole section (the size of a football field) had animated displays, with decorated trees and different themes..And then going through the rest of the store, soon had the trunk filled up...Then we went to Daffin's Candy shop, had a bunch of samples and did some more shopping..Then toured the Buhl Mansion, came back to Grove City Outlet and ended up at Whinery and had a few sips....Needless to say, it was a darn good day, tiresome but good! Oh, and we ate very well, stopped for lunch and had all those goodie samples plus the wine.....

Today, if I get up enough energy to get dressed, I might go outside and help Jim with some of the leaves, but I'm sure not promising....

Dinner tonight will be new food at this house, too....I got some 6 cheese Tortilinni from Schwan, home made sauce, fresh Italian bread and a salad.....Not even thinking of backing anything today...Ice cream in the freezer for afters.......

Happy eating...........................

Mary, I have to ask, what is the Evergreen State designation? Holly isn't here yet, I've been puttering around the house, we're having a cold cold wind and spitting rain, brrrrrr. Love the rain, can so do without the wind! Sounds like you had a good time at the sale anyway :-)
Irish, oh my goodness girlfriend, what a splendiferous day you had! My favorite time is Christmas, I'm crazy about it! Would have loved to be in the car with you all yesterday! :-)

Happy birthday to Chickie's mom! I was just telling Holly test about her starting her quilting at 70, right? and how lucky you both are :-) I told her I just don't know how my mom can sit and do nothing but watch tv most of the day. Enjoy each other Chickie :-)

I have to go look in the freezer to see what might grace our table tonight, I'll have to let ya know :-)

I gave Mom birthday wishes and hugs from all my quilting pals from one coast to the other. She is always excited to hear where my friends are from and what you all are making. I showed her Mary's Dog on My Quilt quilt. Mom had made one earlier this year, so she really was interested in seeing Mary's interpretation of the pattern. She gave her enthusiastic approval!

Yes, Tina, Mom didn't get started quilting until she was 70. She had made a few blocks in high school and a couple of baby quilts when I was a baby (they burned up, sadly), but then life got in the way--raising 3 girls on her own and working full time; then after retirement she took care of her aunt, her sister and my sister's kids. Finally... she was able to pursue her own interests. She's lost count of her quilts, but counting loads of baby quilts... well over 100. She also put quilts together for other people who had made blocks.

We had a really nice day--lots of yummy food and a nice time of visiting.

I'm still full from lunch, so poor DH will have to get some leftovers... pizza or soup, or both.

Thank you again for your birthday wishes for Mom!!!

Hi Everyone,
I am still eating! lol I have been sewing! Our guild's quilt show entry deadline is on November 30th. I am trying to finish a quilt I started October 30th. I just need to get the top done. The pattern, Gentleman's Fancy, is by QIAD from the book "Quilters Almanac". It is Series 3 from the Block Party. I used the new design feature when I was buying fabric. They used a different name, so I called customer service and they found the pattern for me.

Maryz - Everyone here is very happy we are getting a little rain. We had a big thunder and lightening cell over us last night for over 30 minutes. The cat was terrified!

Becca - Hope your hand is better!

Farmchick - Congratulations to your Mom.

Irishgram - Glad you didn't have to drive!! The drive must be exhausted!!

Dinner tonight was chicken with mustard sauce, rice, broccoli and a salad. Well, dished need to be done and I have five blocks to sew together!
Carol
