SUPPER CLUB - HALLOWEEN NIGHT!!

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Oct 31, 2015 4:31 am

We are truly having Halloween weather here! Wind and rain all night and all day long - or so the forecasters are telling us. And they are usually spot on. And you know what? It's definitely an indoor kind of day, and all my indoor chores are done! The uglies, the laundry, the windows. Now what can I do for the rest of the day . . . . ?? lol! Silly question here, isn't it!

BECCA - I am happy to loan you my Raggedy Ann quilt pattern. Do you have the doll pattern? I may even have that, too. I used to, I know. I even had adult Halloween costume patterns for them! DH and I went one year as that iconic couple.

CHICKIE - I told Bill about your "Cure" for your ganglion cyst. He says he thinks he'll go the official surgery route. Better drugs! lol! How was the party last night? Did you and Doyal wear your usual costumes?

JANA - homemade doughnuts at your friend's house?? I'm am so in with that!! Homemade goodies aren't banned here, but they are discouraged. And most parents will toss them out unless they know the house where they came from. Not so much in more rural areas, but in cities, to be sure. I'm happy we live down a long, dark spooky driveway! No bus loads of kids here! and good thing, because DH has our candy almost gone! lol!

TINA - did you get all your TOT'ers bags finished on time? You know, every time I see someone write "TOT-ers" my eyes read "Tone -on-Toners"! lol!!

Well, our little party did indeed turn into a cocktail party with 8 people in our little trailer! lol! It was nice and both couples were really great. They brought snacks and we had a nice time getting to know each other. Our 'real' friends showed up and joined us and they also liked them all. We hope to see them again.

Tonite, we do have enough chili and cornbread left for the two of us. So no cooking today! that will leave me time to plan a nice, knock-his-socks off Sunday dinner for DH for tomorrow. Probably chicken something. With asparagus. and maybe noodles. We'll see . .

How's the planning coming at your house? Who's having Hershey bars for supper?

Good afternoon from, now dreary, semi cool, SW. Pa...Earlier it was sunny and I even had that moment when "should I hand out the sheets" but thank goodness I didn't.....Skies could open up at any moment...Of course we're having this weather, as Mary said, it's Halloween...Seemed to remember having to bundle up the kids, under those costumes, every year.....

Oh Mary, you really are a party magnet...Boy, I wish I lived closer..You know how to enjoy life...I think I'd be like Bill, go for the drugs, lol...And the Raggedy Ann costumes brings back funny memories...One year, Jim and I also dressed as the couple and drove to his mother's...Well, we knocked and she wouldn't answer the door..Finally Jim had to tell her who we were to get her to let us in....Her reason, we were too big to be out there TOTing.....

Tina, I must be getting senile, it took awhile to figure out what "ToT was, lol.....I'll bet your bags will be a huge hit...I go the lazy way and buy little plastic ones that are already decorated..But, then I might get 4 kids (Jim is happy with the leftovers).....

Becca, aren't you the nice neighbor...I think that's wonderful to welcome new people with some goodies...You are special.....

Jana, home made donuts, what a treat....I could probably get away with making treats but then Jim wouldn't want to give them up...I have enough trouble hiding the candy from him.....

Today is ugly and laundry day...Dust bunnies were starting to take control and had to be put in their place...And we were almost at the point, either buy new underwear or turn them inside out (as Chriss suggested)....BUT, the dress is done and waiting to be picked up...I'll be so happy to get it out of the house but it did turn out nice..Last fitting was last night and she didn't want to take it off...Dan was painting things to go on the belt and the party is tonight....Was going to start on bathroom curtains but the machine needs a break, or I should say, both machines need a break....

Tonight's dinner will probably be pizza (compliments of Mr. Schwan)...And for afters, pumpkin pie, unless Dan gets here 1st.....I swear he has ESP, 5 seconds after I took them out of the oven, he was texting me......

Happy Halloween......

Happy eating....................

I did get the bags finished yesterday before lunch :-) if I tell Easton his is Frankenstein he says no like it, if I tell him it's Frankie Baby then he says I like it! LOL I haven't been able to give the other bag to my great niece, her mother is being a bad word and won't let me go give it to her, ugh. I'm still trying though.
Not sure what supper will be tonight because I'm going to the church with the kids for all the games and fun :-)

Good evening! I had my usual Saturday of town, errands, grocery, gas, coffee with friend and visiting with Mom. I got started doing stuff here when I arrived home and put stuff away, and finally… I get to sit down! I have taco soup in the Kitchen Kettle, and it will be ready before long. Smelling yummy!

The party last night was a hoot! The costumes were all creative and so funny! We had the Blues Brothers, Wayne and Garth (Wayne’s World), The Bundys from Married with Children, Walmart associates, Indian brave wearing his SUMMER outfit (not much left to the imagination… Speedo, maybe???) and his squaw, the Scooby Doo gang, Walt and Jessie from Breaking Bad, prisoners and corrections officers, hippies, and MUCH, MUCH more! One guy even dressed up like our son in our son’s clothes, and he was too funny! Chris Farley as the motivational speaker made his appearance this year after an absence… There was even a pest sprayer (Orkin man) who dispensed margaritas from his sprayer container (new sprayer kit!)… Lots of good food and fun!

Yes, we wore our “usual” costumes… or lack of same. I guess we went as Mr. and Mrs. Pickles. DH is always ready to go home about 10 minutes after he eats, but I like to stay… we sorta compromise. When he starts pouting, I know it’s past time to leave.

I’m waiting for my few trick or treat kids… The dogs are ready as well—they are wearing their new scarves for the evening.

Mary—hope everything is well in Austin! I saw the flooding on the news last night.

Seriously, the WACK wasn’t that painful. That’s how they used to fix them… with the family Bible… BAM!!!

Becca—the caramel corn is delicious! Wish I could send you some! You can welcome me any day!!! How nice! People don’t do that very often nowdays.

Tina—hope the little ones have fun with their new bags. Love the “Frankie Baby”! Maybe your niece will get to have hers next year if it doesn’t work out this year.

Irish—I know what you mean about the homemade treats. I only do it because we don’t have lots of kids, but I have to wrap them for the kids or they disappear! I took Mom some cookies today in a Halloween goodie bag. I also took her a piece of pie.

I made apple pies to take to our friends yesterday after his mom passed. I had enough for three small pies (disposable pans) and barely enough crust for all three . When I made the last apple pie, I was short of some apples, so I threw in some blackberries. Not a bad pie!!! DH wanted to keep it, and that’s the piece I took to Mom.

Dust bunnies breed and multiply here like… well, like rabbits!!!

What a wonderful story of Jim’s mom with you big ToT kids!!!

BOO!!! Enjoy!

Today's weather is very warm! Next week the weather people say we may have rain!! Wow!!! Tonight's dinner will either be chili and cornbread or meatsauce and pasta. DH will help me to decide. I need to get going and go to the gym so I will be home for the TOT.

She finally brought her out here to get her bag, I showed it to her and she said, awwwwwwww how cute and hugged it :-) she's 2 :-) so my job is done. Sadly I won't be making any more things for them, the mom doesn't have a clue where the older sister is that I gave her 3 years ago. And she said Jayda wouldn't be using hers this year anyway because her sister bought them plastic pumpkins to use. Felt like a slap in the face so I'm done with making for them, sadly.
