SUPPER CLUB - Wed., Oct 28th

Happy Hump Day!!

Whew! I cleaned the whole upstairs of my house yesterday - living room, kitchen, dining, bath, and vac'd the office and my sewing room. I even got in an hour of sewing time. Today I'm taking my show downstairs and cleaning the family room and our bedroom/bath. And since I'll be close to the washer and dryer, I'll be dealing with them today as well. I want no uglies sullying up my weekend! Or guilt about not doing them!

IRISH - I was at the dentist yesterday, too! For a cleaning. And I also have a 'thing' about dentists. My very first visit - when I was 9 yrs old - the dentist drilled in my mouth for 3 hours, filling eight teeth. And refused to give me novacaine, even though he promised he would. I remember tears streaming down my face and him threatening me if I moved. And my lifelong fear was born.

JANA - it's fun to watch the seasons change, and you have such a good view to be able to do just that! We tried your Red Lobster cheddar biscuits last night. I mixed up the butter with the seasoning but didn't use it all so I dumped the rest into the mashed potatoes. Yum!

CHICKIE - glad to be of help! lol! 57 days now. I think the Scooby Doo gang will be awesome costumes! Especially role-reversed! My BFF and her DH used to host an annual Halloween party and dressed as each other one year. He was a tall, burly bald guy with a big full beard. She was a tiny, red-headed belly dancer. It was a hoot!

TINA - so, did you have the tacos last night? Your little Guana Sue is amazing! Everyone - you should stop by the International Sunbonnet Sue swap just to see all the cute Sue's. Each one is so different! They were all designed by a doctor who loved quilting in her off hours.

last night was mostly leftovers. but now I have leftover mashed potatoes. I think I will make potato patties out of them and have scrambled eggs. Breakfast for supper. One of my personal favorites!

Bon appetit!

Mary—I’m glad you liked my Halloween story. It was just like that last night, and I couldn’t resist writing about it. I felt like I was on the set of a Gothic novel turned movie. It is always fun to see the costumes at the party. Hush, You, with the countdown… I am starting to look like the little guy from Home Alone or one of the Scream apparitions. Come clean for me!!! I love potato cakes—Grandma made them from left over mashed potatoes. Thanks for the memories!

Dinner here… We have some things from last night left… steak and sweet potato for DH, portabella and sweet potato for me. I’ll add salad and a green…

Enjoy!

Yeppers Mary, we had tacos :-) they were delicious! We couldn't tell if they were so good because we were hungry or if they were just that good LOL Yummy potato patties, a good friend of mines mom made the best I've ever had when I was a kid! She was from China, we were taller than her in 5th grade and I bet she didn't weigh 80 pounds, she didn't speak English but she was so sweet!
I loved your story Chickie!
I didn't get cabbage, but do I really want to take a chunk of time out of my day to go get some? Hmmmmmm..... We'll be eating veggie beef soup not sure if it will have cabbage yet or not.

Good afternoon from a soggy, semi dreary, SW. Pa....It was nice this morning but boy did the sky open up.....

Mary, my experience with a dentist was way back in the cave man days and this dentist liked the bottle too much and often would be just a tad tipsy...He also started working, being not too nice and my Mom got me out of the chair and that was the end of that dentist...But, that "shiver" is still there when I have a visit....But, the new guy is wonderful...Other than the "little" pinch, there was absolutely no pain or discomfort..And his staff were super nice...He better not up and die on me like the last one did, lol.....

I was all set on staying home and finishing the costume but my sister had other plans...She had brought her car to the dealer to be serviced and decided we needed to shop and then have lunch...So, off I ran....Now, I need to stay in the sewing room until this thing is done...I think the kids are coming again tonight...This whole project has gone big time...Dan was telling Terry about making the belt and necklace and Terry told him to draw up the "things" and he'd do them on his 3-D printer...So, "things" will be coming from N.C. by priority mail...Gone are the days when you just threw on some old tattered clothes, painted your face and called it a costume.....

Tomorrow will be just as busy, early Mass for Chris (1 year already), lunch with the gals and then tomorrow night, I'm going to a card party....Hopefully, on Friday the phone doesn't ring, I need to stay home......

And, we all know, if I go out for lunch, I don't cook..But, Jim always gets half of my lunch....Jim is having a philly steak and cheese with all the extras....Works for me and he loves them.....

Happy eating...................

Good afternoon,

Chickie - loved that story - you could write - sell it and have that much more for cotton!

Maryz - thanks for the idea for the extra seasoning

Tina - tacos will appear here in a day or so.

I did broccoli cheese soup in homemade bread bowls last night - leftovers for Michael's lunches. But, after I had the bread raising, Sarah came home with sourdough bread bowls, so tonight it is soup again, the white banned yummy stuff! The bowl wil be eaten after the soup is gone - voile no dishes - LOL!

Enjoy,
Jana
