SUPPER CLUB - Thurs, Oct 22

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Oct 22, 2015 4:05 am

Good Morning!

I did get a bunch more iris dug up yesterday. My sister, the Iris Queen, told me that they only bloom once before sending off new rhyzomes which will bloom the next year. The old ones need to be dug up so there's room for the new ones. the trick is telling them apart when you dig them up! This is the first year I've ever dug iris. I also got about 30 tulip bulbs planted. 20 more to go. and two more iris beds to dig.

TINA - that's true about spring bulbs (which are different from iris) - they need the cold winters and cool wet springs. Daffodils, too. Your Frankie tote is darling, by the way!!

CHICKIE - you are such a good doggie-gramma. I didn't make treats for mine. I don't see them much. Or the grand-kitties either. But I do give them all Christmas gifts!

IRiSH - ALL of my kids are adoring pet-parents! They are all cat people. My sister, a bigger cat fan even than I am, says none of her three kids like cats. I told her she failed as a mother.

BECCA - soup sounds good for supper, but I think we will reserve that for later this week when the rains start.

JANA - glad Michael has good bones. Hope they figure out his problem and that it's not serious. Are we on for the game tonite? I think it's on about 5:30 here. Go HAWKS! I will send you a nice FQ if your 'NINERS win.

Tonite's supper? Hmmm..... I have alittle meat loaf in the freezer and some new red potatoes. But DH may want to grill since it will be one of our last nice evenings for about 7 months. Maybe burgers on French rolls. If I have Au Jus sauce, we'll have Yankee Dip Sandwiches and salad.

What will be hitting your plate tonite?

Good morning,

Mary - were on! Be expecting your fat quarter in the mail! My Niners are doing terrible!

Dinner - I have chicken and pineapple sausages in freezer, they will go on the grill. We will figure out later what to go with them.

Enjoy!

Thanks Mary :-)
Well I didn't get the chili soup done last night, even totally forgot to lay burger out to thaw. My mind was on sewing so I get a pass LOL we ate Si Senor :-) Frankie was fine with that :-) I found some grain free dog food for the furr kids, let's hope this works >< >< fingers crossed. And let me tell you, it's not easy finding grain free dog food! A lot said grain free but I'm a label reader, they weren't and they were still expensive! We lucked out at Tractor Supply, they had this one in sale and it's a 4.5 star rating out of 5, and it comes highly recommended :-) I'll have to feed small amounts twice a day, they scarf it down LOL
and for our supper tonight it is chili soup and I already have the burger thawing :-)

Good afternoon from a super, duper nice day in SW. Pa....I'm thinking maybe the fellow at Walmart might be right, it's supposed to turn cooler but we sure are enjoying these days.....

Jim and I spent the morning at a local farm and came home with the trunk literally full of goodies...I love their apples and get as many as I can peal, slice and fit in the freezer...Makes for wonderful pies in the winter, just ask Jim......Then stopped at another market and loaded up on lunch meat, cheeses and anything that Terry might like....Finally, home and I need to get cracking....

Mary, I guess I've semi failed as a mother...2 of my kids are not cat people although, they do have dogs....I've always noticed, hunters don't care for cats and these 2 are/were hunters...I used to laugh, when Chris would stop in, the cats wouldn't leave him alone....Always told him, they were trying to convert him....
Gonna be a good game tonight..When Joe Montana played, I was a staunch 49er fan but that was years ago...Joe is an old man now, lol..He still keeps in touch with Jim but not as it used to be....

Oh well, gotta get moving....Trying to geive my weekend uglies a head start......

Since we really didn't have dinner last night, I'm thinking, tonight might be the "fire up the grill" night...Like Mary, it could be the last of the nice days for awhile......Don't tell Jim but I did pick up some really good looking donuts while we were out....Nice surprise for his after.....if he eats his dinner 1st...lol....

Happy eating.................

Good afternoon! The dogs and I have returned from our walk down to see little Ava. She is such a little bouncing ball of fluff—always so happy to see the big dogs and get to romp in the middle of the day.

Mary—I have iris I need to dig, but I’ll let them go awhile longer. There are areas over on the public hunting lands where houses were in the past, and they had irises. These have gone wild and cover an acre or more in different places. They are back to small yellow blooms. Deer will scratch them loose, and they take root in another spot, or they will just colonize a hillside. They are beautiful in spring.

My DD has three kitties. Two are babies from Little Bit, the barn cat that hung around when I lived at the old house. She’s the one that came when I was bottle and bucket feeding my calf. She stayed for milk and food and kept the barn rid of rodents. After the fire, I tried to keep her, but she moved on since I wasn’t always around as much.

Irish—we are to be cooler tomorrow. The good thing about that is hopefully we will get some rain. We really NEED it! Oh, I saw Joe Montana on TV this week. He’s still a cutie, even in his “old age”. That’s neat he still keeps in touch with your family! Give him a hug for me!!!

Becca—I like flowers that take care of themselves in spite of me. I have some cosmos blooming their hearts out for me—volunteers from last year.

Tina—It’s hard to find good pet food! I will not buy any made in China “stuff”. What brand is grain free? Love your “Frankie” bag!!!

Jana—will be fun seeing who sends/receives the FQs! Your sausages sound delicious!!!

I need to figure out something for dinner tonight. Nothing inspires me. No ideas yet. I’ll keep thinking… maybe tacos.

Enjoy!
