SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Oct 17th
Good news! I have internet! So here I am, talking food and whatever with you all as if I were at home in my living room! Scottie is much better! he's on two meds, and special canned food to mix with his kibble. His labs showed he has everything in him from hook worms to giardia. Double ick! He eats ANYTHING he can find and then we end up paying the price. and boy, are we paying - vets and their meds don't come cheap.
CHICKIE - so nice you could meet Lyn! I've met her a few times in Texas and she's such a sweetie! She was my Secret Santa last Christmas. And I happen to know she has a sneaky streak in her! lol!
IRISH - you got it! A sip of grape for you! You might get two sips, because that's the kind of friend I am! Good luck at the S&
D-er today! And I hope you get to stop at Joann's. What costume does Dan's GF want to make? Or has she decided yet?
BECCA - that was some adventure you had with your DS in Hershey! How does he feel about chocolate today?
TINA - how's the new baby doing?
Today we'll be visiting a few wineries. Always fun to taste their wares, but also, some of them have such beautiful grounds. It's like a garden tour as well! And most have unique gift shops, so it's a great place to do a little Christmas shopping as well.
Tonite's supper is going to be shredded BBQ sandwiches with (frozen) french fries and a salad. And wine, of course! Oddly enough, we have another couple from home in our wine-tasting group who have an apartment right across the road from this park we are in while he works at a temporary job for a few years. But they are out of town at the moment. We tried to bribe them for their key so we could go watch the Seahawks tomorrow, but only got 'ha-ha's' for answers from them. I think they thought we were kidding. Ha-ha!
It's fall! Are you trotting out your fall recipes? Does anyone have a favorite dish for fall?

Good Morning to all,Beautiful here but crisp & nippy.Frost was here too.
Mary z DS still will eat chocolate but learned a good lesson not to over indulge .Glad your trip is so much fun.And poochie is better. Those vets are high.
Enjoyed the Fall Festival & found a few goodies to eat & some to keep. Was cold but sunny.
Mary z When the cold comes I always think Soup.DH was talking the other nite about all the different dishes I used to make when kids were Home that he never sees anymore.I had forgotten a lot of them.I used to cook a lot but for 2 it's not as much fun & we eat different too.Oh well the joys of getting older.lol
We have chili left so it will grace the table.I found chocolate & plain pound cake & almond joy cookies at the bake sale.We are set.....Becca

Good afternoon from a gorgeous (looking) day in SW. Pa....I'm saying looking because it's nice and sunny but very chilly out there, only in the 40s (which you all know, that's cold by my standards)......
Mary, glad you're able to still be with us while you having fun sipping the grape..And for being such a good friend, go ahead and indulge, I won't mind....In fact, that's probably what I need! I am now a member of this darn "Irish skin cancer club" and have a nice big patch across my forehead to prove it.....Will get the results in a couple of days and then we'll take it from there but I told doc, it's fine, he got it...(positive thinking)......
And I did get to JoAnns and saved $21.00, how about that! Dan's GF wants to be/make Princess Leia from Star Wars...This should be interesting because I've never seen Star Wars and she doesn't sew, yet.....
Becca, glad you got to visit the festival and finding goodies is always a plus.....I'm thinking like you in the soup department...I love, love veggie soup but never turn down any other soup....I think chili would be 2nd on the list but find I don't make it very often.....
I know what you mean about cooking for 2...I love when we get scads of company and I can really cook up a storm...Our Terry will be coming on Thursday and boy am I looking forward to feeding him.....
For our dinner, Jim mentioned his favorite, hot dogs and baked beans.....Easy peasy......I might have to bake something but if Dan and his GF are here, it has to be something gluten free...She's really on a strick diet, poor thing.....
Happy eating....................

Good afternoon!
My class went great - I now need to print off a bunch more copies of the recipe.
Last night I started marinating some skirt steaks for fajitas. So that will be dinner.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon--late, late, late... as usual! I had a really nice visit with Mom today. I pinned the little baby quilt for her. I think I told everyone that this is a small (maybe 36" square) top I pieced hoping she would hand quilt it for me. It's for my "Someday I hope to have great grandkids" hope chest. The quilt will be made by me and quilted by the baby's great-great grandmother. Since the kids are 16 and 12 now, I hope I don't have great grandkids too soon!!!
Becca--your bake sale finds ... YUM!!! Almond Joy is one of my favorites... dark chocolate and coconut! Decadence!!!
You are right about the vet bills being high. DH is always complaining that his FREE dogs cost him an arm and a leg. I just smile and be sure I'm the one paying with the credit card.
MaryZ--I give the dogs heart worm pills monthly that include other worm parasites. More Ka-Ching$$$ You can have a sip of the vino for me, too!
Irish--just look online for pictures of your characters and wing it! They will love them!!!
Jana--O.K. Do you share your fudge recipe? I keep hearing about it, and my front is wet from the drooling. If you don't, that's o.k., but... (sob!)
I have to say again that DH really liked the carne asada from Tina, and I will be repeating it before long. I have several packages of this tough, tough meat hidden in the freezer. Now I know I can fix it and it will be edible, eaten and enjoyed! Becca--I had to use tenderizer; it's beyond tough for spices to tenderize. We are talking TOUGH!!!
Dinner tonight--steak for DH, baked sweet potatoes, salad and spice cake with cream cheese frosting for afters. I baked the cake yesterday and kind of made up my frosting as I went... Greek yogurt cream cheese, Greek yogurt, butter, molasses, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and powdered sugar. I like that it's got a less sweet taste, and it's super good!
Enjoy!

Hi Everyone
Becca - Know what you mean about getting older and eating differently. Doctors do tend to tell you to eat less fat, less sugar, more Vitamin D etc.
Jana - I am with Chickie, please share the recipe!
Irish - Sorry you had to join the club. I think I already am a member, wit a scar on the end of my nose to prove it.
Maryz - Sorry if you don't get to see the Sea Hawks tomorrow. Hope you enjoyed the wine tasting.
Chickie - Glad you found a use for that tough meat!
Tonight I marinated some chicken cutlets then grilled them, mashed potatoes, salad and broccoli accompanied and afters were some store cookies. I really need to do some baking, but it has been so hot for several weeks.
Goodnight!
Carol
