SUPPER CLUB - Tues, May 5th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue May 05, 2015 4:56 am

Good Morning!

IRISH - congratulations on the engagement! He's a lucky guy to be marrying into your family! Will there be a wedding quilt?

General Carol - what's a 'varlot'?

TINA - isn't today your day with Carole V? and you're going to learn Cathedral Windows! and I'm not!!

JANA - I saw those little pound cakes but I was strong and didn't get them.

JOANNE - so sorry about your RA/OA. I was thinking about regular hand embroidery or cross stitch, or crochet, or ?? My hands ache after a marathon of handwork, so I take it easy. Are you rooting for anyone in particular on DWTS? Rumer is really good, but I think Riker is, too. and Noah is amazing! Exciting to see how his demeanor has changed through the season. He seemed so aloof and angry at first. Now he's much lighter, smiles more, and talks more.

CAROL - I remember the last MASH episode. I didn't like it. Though it was probably more true to life than anything I would have liked!

BECCA - a Sunday ride, ice cream AND supper out! It's good to be you!!

CHICKIE - now that song will be in my head all day long! Oh well, it's a good song - "Oklahoma". I remember singing it in Glee Club when I was in high school. Though the movie I was thinking about was Wizard of Oz. A bit of wind in that show, too if I remember right!

Well, I still have the last of the cooked chicken so I'm thinking of making a new thing for me - white chili using cannellini beans. I was going for a chicken/rice/broccoli casserole, but know DH will be MUCH happier with the chili. Crossing fingers it turns out.

Bon Appetit`!

Mary--it was from "Oklahoma", and I knew the BIG WIND to which you were referring... that movie used to always play in April on a Sunday night, and invariably there were actual tornado watches and sometimes warnings at that time of year here.

I love white chicken chili! Have a big pot for me. I'm still thinking of cleaning out the refrigerator some more... We didn't have the soup last evening, so it will probably make it to the table tonight.

Good morning,

Sink is still clogged - DH made a run to Lowes for Draino - we will see.

Been a few minutes since I started this - seems to be working - keeping fingers crossed.

Dinner will be pork chow mein and fried rice. I find found some fresh bean sprouts, so I can make it from scratch.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from, kind of dampish, but slightly sunny, SW. Pa...We had rain over night and even some thunder boomers this morning but hopefully that has passed..I figure the real reason we got the rain, along with washing my windows, yesterday, I sprayed my lilies with "Deer Be Gone"....Oh well, maybe I'm just not meant to have lilies and the deer do have to eat.....

Thank you all for the good wishes for Cari and her fellow..I talked to her yesterday and she said, they will be coming this way in a couple of weeks and share some plans...But, she thinks the wedding will be next summer, which should give me lots of time to get that quilt done...And of course it will be an Irish chain...Years ago, I had gotten some Waterford crystal to be given to the girls for their weddings and finally, I can pass some of it along....I was also teasing her about going to Kleinfield's in N. Y. and saying "yes to the dress"......Do you think I'm a little excited?????

Joanne, I don't really watch DWTS but did see the fellow without the arm and leg..He is an inspiration, for sure....So sorry to hear your "sidekick" RA is giving you problems.....

Chickie, yesterday when I was hanging the sheets, I was thinking of you and smiling....Had this vision of you flying around twisted in the sheets...And of course I can't get that song out of my head.....

The dinner that I had planned for yesterday didn't happen...We had to make a Walmart run and then stopped at Arby's on the way home....Sure didn't break my heart.....So, today will be the chicken, mashed spuds, gravy and a veggie....And do need to bake something, not sure what.........

Happy eating..............

I don't have a clue about supper, does that mean I don't have to cook? :-) I still haven't had any spaghetti.......hmmmmmm

Hi Friends,
I have been a little busy here. Sunday was our grandson’s confirmation at church. Then yesterday, DH had to have a test done for his Dr. Appt. on April 22. After that we headed back home to Shelbyville.
We went out for Monical’s Pizza (Monday nights is an all you can eat special)
Today I went to my “summer church” quilting group. They didn’t have any projects to work on today so we just planned to meet again in two weeks.
I had a list of things to do on my errand list. Stop at our local grocery and brought home a couple pieces of fresh fried chicken for our lunch. Fit a time for a little nap, a nice walk for Willy, and now finally, I can visit with all of you for a few minutes.
Tonight for dinner, I am doing pork chops and the usual salad, potato and vegi routine stuff.

I had hoped to sew today, but it got so hot here and we didn’t get our A/C on early enough, so it just felt too hot to drag the sewing machine out and set everything up for just 1-2 hours. I will do my sewing tomorrow early in the morning while it is cool.

I am very excited to tell you, that my son had a great suggestion for me. I have been fighting this terrible cough for over 3 weeks. There is not congestion, but the coughing spell always comes when you are talking a lot, or like Sunday morning in church, when you are supposed to be quite. He said that when he had it, he got to thinking that it might be coming from allergy and he took some of his regular allergy pills and it really helped his cough. So that is what I tried, and guess what? My coughing is almost totally gone. I hardly coughed at all during the night. We went out for pizza and I never coughed once throughout our entire dinner time!!!

I never thought an allergy would cause a cough. Well, I truly learned something new. Anyway, it’s great to now have some relief.

Happy meal time everyone.
