SUPPER CLUB - Mon, April 27th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Apr 27, 2015 4:48 am

Good Morning!

We're going to be nearly 70* today, though some clouds. Maybe a few drops of wet. but that's OK. It's what keeps us The Evergreen State.

ABITA - there you are! I was wondering what happened to you! Congrats to your son. I love N.O. I've danced in the French Quarter to a great jazz band and have a Mardi-Gras mask, framed and hanging in our trailer as a momento of that fun visit. I love the NCIS-NO. Though with Scott Bakula as the star, I'd be happy to watch if he stood still in the middle of the Sahara Desert! lol!

JO - You cooked! You better lie down, Dearie! LOL! just teasing!

IRISH - you just reminded me of another of our favorite dinners - often cooked over the campfire while camping, but good on the grill, too - pouch dinners. I'm going to add that to my "idea list". Prayers for your BIL's surgery. so good of you to be 'back-up' for them. We promise not to eat all the good stuff while you are gone.

JANA - I often wonder if I'm the only one who enjoys power outages. It's like camping only we have our king-sized bed to sleep in! (as opposed to the queen in our trailer! lol!) but all our power lines are going underground this summer, so no more indoor camping for us, I'm afraid.

CHICKIE - life doesn't get much better than at your house! ATV trail-riding, pet cows snuffling your pockets, and BBQ and campfire. Somedays, I just want to be you!

DH loved his pizza with everything last night and half of it is left. If he stays out of it for lunch, it will be supper again tonite. Otherwise, he'll get poached eggs!

Bon Appetit`!

Good morning!

Michael is now crawling around the fireplace - to see how it works, so we can use it for heat when the power is out. So far he has read all the manuals and is trying to figure out how it is wired - he will get it done.

The dinner fairies did show up with food - I just had to cook, and they cleaned up afterwards too! Tasty meatloaf and baked potatoes.

Tonight will most likely be tacos.

Enjoy!

Becca--most of our spring blooms are behind us now... looking forward to summer. There are a few small flowers in the hay meadow, but the daisies will be blooming on a few weeks. In the woods are Jack-in-the-Pulpits, and I never tire of looking at them. I also have some around the house that I transplanted from the woods along with some ferns. I would love to take a walk with you! I haven't seen wild dogwoods since leaving Missouri. And the only azaleas are foundation plantings on the north side of houses. I've never been able to get a good grow with them, so I admire all the ones in town. Rhododendrons would be amazing in the wild! They are few and far between in gardens here... guess the summers are way too hot and dry.

Jana--this morning I wished for a fireplace or a free standing stove with a "hot top" so I could have had coffee. Had to wait for the power to come on... almost three LONG hours for a coffee fix! No stoves or fire here after losing the house down the road...

Mary--we had a great time yesterday afternoon although it was CHILLY and a cold wind. We opted to eat inside, but everyone thought DH's redneck brat rack was too funny. When he loaded up the pitchfork, I thought Kelly was going to split something--she was laughing so hard. Apparently she missed that part of it last year. I swoon for Scott Bakula, too...

Abita--I had wondered where you had been. Moms and grandmas always have top priority for bragging rights here--we love to hear all about it. Congratulations to your son, and to you for being his mom!

Irish--thinking about you and your family... best wishes!!!

Speaking of swooning... We were discussing the series about the Old West characters and I mentioned that Wyatt Earp was in a couple of them... and that he looked nothing like the Wyatt Earp of the old TV series when I was a kid. I had to look him up... Hugh O'Brien... does anyone remember him? His pictures were just as hot as I remembered him being back in the 50s. His series certainly was a glamorized version of the Old West as was Gunsmoke and others...

For dinner tonight... we have a couple bowls of potato soup left and a couple brats... so good yesterday they deserve a second run...

Enjoy!

A group of cats is called a clowder, per Sheldon on "Big Bang". (I needed to check with my DH too! lol)
