SUPPER CLUB - Mon, April 13th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Apr 13, 2015 4:27 am

Good Morning!

Hope you all had a spectacular weekend filled with lots of yummy eats! We had a friend of Bill's come by at 4:30 last night and he stayed until after 6pm. I'm not feeling top notch (UTI - hope to get into the doc today) and after he left I just didnt' feel like cooking and that I just wanted to order a pizza. So this we did.

I did get all my scraps cleaned up and trimmed into usable pieces, all my fabric "whomped" into neatly folded stacks, and cleaned out, purged, and rearranged the closet in my sewing room. I also took off the closet doors which adds to the illusion of more space, and makes things easier to get to in there. Today will be all UGH-lies, I think. Though hopefully a dr appt first.

JANA - Those ham/cheese sliders sound scrumpdilicious! Did you make that recipe up? An experienced cook with a big family is always prepared for the unexpected!

CHICKIE - yes, Betsy is doing well and savors every minute of life. She was SOO sick for so long that it's a joy for us to see this sweet person (and her equally sweet husband) living normal lives again. This dr appt is just her regular semi-annual check-up. And today is the 3-yr anniversary of her surgery. BTW, the 'cheese song' is Farmer in the Dell, one of my playground favorites as a kid. Except I always got chosen to be the rat. Sigh.

IRISH - prayers for your friend, "The Other Jim". Sounds like he's a survivor, too!

CAROL - I love homemade applesauce! I used to make it and can a few dozen pints every year, but peeling enough apples for just a pie makes my hands ache so bad now that I only make it one meal at a time. I bet yours was delish!

Since we didn't get our chicken/rice something yesterday I'm putting that on the menu for tonite. And the last of the greenery for a salad.

And now, for my sign off, I'm picturing the old ringing triangle at the beginning of The Real McCoy's TV show from the 50's, calling you all to supper. (now who among you will admit to remembering that?? LOL!)

Good morning,

Mary - I remember that - barely - it may be because of reruns! No, I can't take credit for the sliders. It was on pinterest. I also made a super easy jello salad - small box of dry jello - any flavor. Stir into either real whip cream , whipped stiff or a container of cool whip. Then add a can of crushed pineapple, drained and a cup or so of mini marshmallows.
You can serve it right aaay. I found out that it is a Utah staple! LOL It's yummy.

DH loved the ribs the other night and would like a re-run. So when I am out I will pick up another rack to cook. I too, have the big jar of Sweet BabyRays.

Enjoy!
Jana

Forgot, you add cottage cheese in that salad too. Shouldn't let me cook!

Good morning from the rainy plains... not to be confused with the PNW! Right now, we are about as green... the pastures are emerald and lush.

Mary--pizza sounds good. That may be what makes it to my table... homemade. We had the leftovers from Saturday night, and they were awesome, but all gone now.

My mind totally blanked on "Farmer in the Dell". Now I am the farmer in the dell... or at least the farmer's wife... oh... now I'm thinking about 3 Blind Mice... THAT'S not me!!!

That's just so wonderful about Betsy!!!

Jana--the sliders sounded delicious! We have variations of the jell-o salad here. I like coconut, mandarin oranges, fruit cocktail along with all of your additions. Have also had it with rice, marshmallows, and crushed pineapple. Fresh fruit is also good in it...

O.K. DH will be home for brunch, and I need to get it on the stove...

Happy eatings!

Good late morning from a very sunny, getting very warm, SW. Pa...I knew this would happen but I'm sure not going to complain about it being warm....Would you believe, I even broke out the shorts......
Have more sheets hanging on the line, Jim is puttering with the mower (he heard the sound of someone in the neighborhood mowing their grass),had cleaned some of the gutters, brought some of our patio furniture down from the shed and it's all such a good feeling.....

Mary, sorry to hear you're not feeling up to par...Best you get to the doc and nip it in the bud....Did Foxy come home? Was thinking of him this morning...I tired to take Baby Girl out this morning and after 2 minutes, she wanted back in..Of course when we go out, I have to carry her, she doesn't like to get her feet dirty...Little miss prissy!

Jana, those sliders really did sound delish and will keep them in mind....Jim as been on a kick for just plain old ham/cheese on a bun, wrapped in foil and stuck in the oven..He's so easy to please....

As much as I said, we were "over" ham, I'm cooking the end with cabbage and potatoes...Was kind of funny, yesterday at Aldi, everyone was buying heads of cabbage and muttering....And I might bake some cookies...I really am getting lazy, picked up a package of ginger cookie mix and might give them a try....Lazy or not, Jim won't care.....

Happy eating..........

This afternoon is our Pirate Home Opener and it's going to be a great day! GO BUCS!

Mary, hope you got in to the Dr and are getting better by the minute :-)
We're eating out at Outback Steak House, never been there before and we still have our gift certificate from Christmas so that'll be where we eat our anniversary supper :-) 30 years today :-)

Tonight is Dinner with the Pringles...at Hibachi Grill! We were scheduled to go to Gold Star Chili, but the others aren't thrilled with that. Fine with us!

OMG, you are all making me hungry. Sorry that I haven't been at the table lately. The days are going so fast. I get on the computer in the AM and then haven't been on later in the day. Today, however, I got my groceries early and we treated ourselves to DQ lunch. I love it that here in Illinois our DQ has the $5 buck lunch deal. What a nice treat!!!

Since I have to keep my frig low on stock, I have my dinners planned for the rest of the week. Tonight is breaded chops, tators, vegi and salad. I'm hungry already from reading all your posts.

Maryz. Hope you will be feeling better soon.

Yes, I remember the dinner bell on the show. LOL Great times of the past!!!

Hey, ring the bell, it's almost time to get ready to cook.
