SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Dec 30

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Dec 30, 2014 1:37 am

Good morning,

Wow! What a workout we had yesterday! If my DD ever invites any of you to a "garden party", I warn you now to BEWARE! We worked so hard I'm still exhausted this morning. And sore. And I've declared a personal war on yucca plants! We limbed a lot of trees, pulled weeds, pruned shrubs, raked leaves, and DH hauled two HUGE truckloads of debris to the brush recycler. We have one more loadd to haul today, but most of the yard work is finished. We're going back today to do that and Bill will make some repairs inside the house.

TINA - what I call "a chainsaw on a stick" is what some folks would call a "polesaw". It's a small chainsaw blade at the end of a long pole. Great for limbing trees and hard to reach things.

For supper last night, despite working hard all day, Autumn disappered into the house for 10 min and when she came out, said she had a ham dinner in the oven. Baked potatoes with cheese, green beans w/almonds, rolls, and pumpkin pie. (some was leftover from Christmas, but some was new food). It tasted like ambrosia to us!

We're going back for more parental abuse today, so no telling what we'll be feasting on tonite!

Hope you won't have to work as hard for your supper! lol! (I'm sure you all know we're immensely enjoying helping out my DD. ;o)

Good morning,

Mary - my mom had yucca plants in her yard here - the previous owner planted them - took my mom years and lots of Round-up to kill them out. They are worse than weeds!

Daniel is going out to dinner with Aaron and Kate tonight, so I really can slide on what I feed DH and me. There is some great little Italian place the kids know about up in SLC, it was on Diners, Drive ins and Dives. I will be cooking a big family dinner on Friday - to celebrate Daniel's birthday. He is leaving on Saturday, which is his birthday, so we are celebrating the night before. I will be making lasagna, salad and my garlic bread.

Stay warm - we are at 5 degrees. Tonight we will fall below zero.

Enjoy,
Jana

We're having thawed soup from the freezer :-) sounds great to me!
Mary, is it store bought or Bill made? I ask because we have a pecan tree out front and if it's makeable at home maybe Frankie will want to see it to see if he can make one, that tree needs some major trimming.....well actually 2 out front do but they're too tall.

Good late afternoon from cold, sun going down, Sw. Pa....The sun was brilliant today but very cold and going to be very cold tonight.....

I'm really running late today....Mary, I've learned from years of experience, not to offer, not to have the tools and do not wear "relaxing" clothes......But, aren't you and Bill special for doing all that work for the kids.....I'm sure they really do appreciate it.....

We had another funeral home visit this afternoon....My oldest DS's father in law passed away suddenly on Sunday, funeral will be tomorrow...My DS's wife had passed away almost 10 years ago, then her mother just this past summer and now her father...One big reunion in Heaven.....

And on the way home, that sweet fellow that lives with me, suggested we stop at Subway....Twist my arm a little more, right??? Subway, cup of tea and another bowl of BBQ chips, purrrrfect.......

Happy eating...............

Tonight was cheese coneys and a side salad from Gold Star Chili down the street...Earl has a lay out tonight, but I begged off..the RA in my knee is really bad, so riding in the car more than 20 minutes is really painful. A friend from the Antique Machinery Show passed.

Last night at Cracker Barrel was wonderful!

Tomorrow night we have our annual Bingo New Years Eve Bash! Earl will help me make the sloppy joes tomorrow..and I'm making grape salad (grapes, sour cream, cream cheese, pecans and a little brown sugar)...it is yummy!

I helped DH and a firewood buyer load five ricks of wood in sub-freezing temperatures today. There were little white things floating in the air from time to time. (No accumulation, thankfully!) Have also been making goodies for New Year's Eve.

I made cinnamon rolls and also made pizza rolls--spread dough with pizza sauce, chopped olives, chopped mushrooms and chopped pepperoni as well as mozzarella cheese. I just rolled them like cinnamon rolls. I made a pan for the party and some for us. We ate ours for a late, late lunch. They were really good for just making them up. If we have dinner later, it will be cleaning up some of the left overs.

Last night DH had some of the macaroni "soup" from the night before baked in an individual casserole. I had an artichoke and veggies with dip. We both had salads.

Irish--so sorry for the funeral home visits. One of DH's coffee friends passed away yesterday morning after a long battle with lung cancer. His wife is in the hospital with a pancreas infection. We've been to too many services this year.

Happy New Year to All!

Hi everybody from southeast Texas, We are closer to Corpus Christie than Houston and near the Gulf. I was left without a truck today, so I didn't get a chance to shop. Yet!! Thanks for the tip about the quilt shop in Victoria. I may have to check my map then commander the truck for a side trip tomorrow. Silly boys, trucks are for girls! ;-D It has been cold and windy today, but thankfully no rain. I will sign off now, since I need my rest tonight. Y'all know how tiring shopping can be! Prayers to all, out of town Abita
