SUPPER CLUB - Wed. Nov 5th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Nov 05, 2014 3:00 am

Time is flying! Almost a week into November already!

LADY CAROL - so happy to "see" you! Sounds like you've been doing a bit of "gardening". Hope you are fully restored soon.

BECCA - so sorry for your DH. My DB is in almost the same state. It's heart-breaking. With friends is the perfect place to vent.

We had a good travel day yesterday. DH got tired and needed a long nap. We were cruising through the middle of the Montana prairie and up pops a sign on the freeway for a quilt shop ahead! and they had lots of parking! He did lots of sleeping, and I - well, I was a naughty girl. I did lots of shopping! It was a great shop! Found a sweet winter McKenna Ryan pattern for 40% off and a fistful of FQ's.

Now, for dinner tonite - I think we'll have keilbasa slices in Rice-a-Roni with some peas tossed in. A one dish meal. One of my travel standbys. This means that we'll have that sausage in one for or another for about 3 nights. I hope we don't bore you! lol!

Bon appetit'!

Good morning! Mary, I like your choice of menu. It works here, too, when I don't have anything thawed. How fun to pick an exit with a quilt shop for Bill's nap! I think you were a very GOOD girl!!!

I think we might have enchiladas this evening. I got some from one of the DGDs--her youth group makes them for a fund raiser, and they are delicious.

Mary, what a fun napping place. You should find all the quilt shops up ahead so you'll know in advance where he can nap at :-)
Chickie, I love enchiladas but don't eat them very often on my diet, but when I do I really enjoy them! :-)
I laid out pork chops, I have zucchini and we'll have salad too.

Good Evening All......its been cold again....temps have certainly dropped down the scale.....no rain yet....but its coming in overnight so "they" tell us......

Its Firework night tonight.....the fireworks are going off with a lot of very loud bangs.....and a chorus of barking dogs close behind.....those bangers really frighten them......

We will be away caravanning this weekend....I got a phone call to say the person who was taking over from me to do the bulk of the Saturday night meal.....had cried off....she didn't realise how much was involved......so over last week end.....I made the Chicken Korma and Chilli....now residing in the freezers.....3 cheers for slow cookers......there is enough to feed 25.....I hope......

Maryz.....driving these days.....certainly on your scale.....is tiring
some drivers are just idiots...and if they see a caravan in front of them.....overtaking is the only thing on their mind.....even when it most certainly isn't safe to do so....ok rant over.....

Becca...forgive me but I have been so out of the loop lately....but I gather your DH is poorly....I am hoping he is feeling more comfortable now and enjoying his subway......

Todays menu.....Chicken(leftovers) Casserole with herby dumplings......Chocolate Steamed Pudding with Hot Chocolate Sauce

Carol

Hi, Rainy day here in South Texas. I bought some fresh green beans on Monday at our H.E.B. grocery and today was the perfect day to cook them.

I put them in my crock pot with some chopped onions this morning to simmer and cook all day. With today being our sewing day, I knew I would not feel like cooking much when I got home.

Now I will transfer the beans to my big kettle and add some taters and chopped bacon. when the taters are tender, supper will be ready. Yummy

DH and I both love this meal. One that he grew up with that his Mom cooked all the time when there were fresh green beans available. I learned to make it from her.

Maryz: We just had smoked sausage the other night. I put a little Texas Soppin sauce on them. Boy, was that ever yummy, too.

I love Rice a Roni. The chicken flavor with chicken bits and the Beef flavor, I love to brown ground turkey and stir that in to make a meal. Adding canned peas sounds great, may try that next time.

Have a nice evening and eat well!!!

Velda
HUGS, 💕 Vel
