Lists are wonderful tools for us each day. It is good to accomplish many good things.

Another way of using a list is a "hazard checklist" - look around your home and make a list of things that need attention before a emergency arises. Pictures hanging over a bed? Could fall on you in a earthquake - large heavy objects that could topple on to a child or pet, that are not anchored to a wall securely? Go through your home and make a list of 10 things that needs your attention. Fix and mark off one a week, but add another so you still have tasks. Doing one at a time will not overwhelm you or your wallet. TV's free standing on a table injure many children each year. My niece had a bookcase that they were moving in a room they were re-arranging that fell on their little poodle and broke his hip.

We all face emergencies of flood, fire, earthquake, tornados and hurricanes. Use a list to be prepared ahead of what may strike you.

I am a daily list maker -

Good idea Jana, thanks.

MaryQ - Glad I'm not the only one....I, too, have done something not on my list, but add it just so I can cross it off.

I will be making the 'getting ready to leave' lists today. Will also go over the check list I made for the contractor and see how many things are still left for him to do.

I've always been a list person, too. I've even made lists of my lists! The process of checking things off is so satisfying and propels me onto the next item. I think Ivy Lee stole my idea!! Thanks, Lyn! Interesting article!

I, also, am a list person. But somehow got out of doing it since being back home. I will take the time tonight to make my list and start my day tomorrow working on that list.

Good idea of listing as I get so distracted by things. Sometimes in order to do one thing it hits so many and they lead to their own directions and at the end of the day nothing is accomplished.

Perhaps I will give this a a try.

Thanks for sharing.

Lyn, thank you for bringing this back to the top. I used to make lists all the time but got out of the habit. Thought retirement would leave time for everything I needed to do. NOT!!!!

I do make groc list on dry erase board in kitchen with needed items as we notice them. Then we copy over to paper and take to store. When we get home, we cross off what we got and leave what we forgot at store. Not all stores we visit carry everything we need. LOL

Thanks for this reminder. A nice way to start listing in Jan and do all yr long. I will start today. Dr apptmt this am so will put at top of list and gleefully cross it off as DONE!!!!Yaaaaaaa Works for me and makes me feel good to see what I have accomplished too all day long. Sometimes probably more than we realize if we dont' write it down.

Thanks again everyone for your added suggestions. Guess list making back when, is still a very good thing. And getting old---er means memory isn't the best all the time either. LOL

God bless, happy list making and crossing off, and have a wonderful day, all organized and fulfilling your needs today.

Hugs to all, Shirley Mae

I made a "to do list" last week. It helped me to get several chores done around the house. Now I need to made a "quilting to do list" and see if that will help me to get better organized.
