SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Sept 10th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Sep 10, 2014 4:07 am

I noticed yesterday that we have fall leaves down in our yard! Guess I've been so busy inside for the last several days that I hadn't noticed! An on our way to dance lessons, I also noticed that we now have a HOBBY LOBBY in Tacoma! Yay!!! I'm excited about that! Can't wait to go in there.

CHICKIE - I'm with you on DB. Not a fan. My SIL was cooking it once and their dog - a golden lab - ran into the living room, where there was a deer head on the wall, and he barked and barked at it. He KNEW!

We're almost back together here. Few boxes of stuff to sort out, few pictures to hang, and DH is moving into his new office furniture. For him, that's like moving into a new sewing room!

We invited some friends for a spur of the moment supper tonite. I have a massage this morning and so will stop at the store. I'm planning to pick up a seasoned pork tenderloin and I'll make au gratin potatoes and green beans. They like hunks of dark chocolate and I thought that might be tasty with some orange sorbet for dessert.

Party on, everyone!

Mary—That is too funny about the dog and the deer head! Your dinner sounds delicious!!! Enjoy the massage. You can’t go wrong with dark chocolate and orange!

I liked Hobby Lobby when I lived by Joplin. They had some nice fabrics. I think their overall fabric quality was better than JoAnn’s, and the store was cleaner and less junky. I loved their art supplies and calligraphy pens.

I have no idea what will be on the menu tonight. Maybe I’ll dump some soup stuff in the crock pot. We are supposed to be cooler this afternoon and night.

Good afternoon from warm, sunny, still summerlike, Sw. Pa...But, we're in for Fall weather starting this weekend...But, as long as Mr. Sun makes his appearance, we'll be OK.....

Mary, after all that work, you really need and deserve that massage....I'm still walking around here wondering just where to begin...You dinner sounds yummy, lucky guests.....

Chickie, I'm the same with deer meat...I grew up with hunters, my Mom cooked it and Jim and all my boys eat it but I just can't...And even though, I see what they've done to my garden and flowers, I still love to watch them come through the yard...I had gotten some "Deer Be Gone" and still have a hard time spraying it to keep them away, lol....

We went to a farm this morning and loaded up on peaches and other goodies...Of course they have a bake shop and you can guess who spent most of his time trying to decide what to get...He is in his glory, just like a little kid! He even had me text Kathy and tell her he was eating a lady locks just for her.....

As for our dinner, I'm thinking stuffed peppers and I have some really nice new potatoes that I want to use....And once again, since Jim has goodies, I don't need to bake.....Works for me!

Happy eating............

Good morning,

I too am not a fan of venison. My brother was a hunter and would bring it home - I skipped dinner on those nights. I love to watch the "Bambi's" in my yard, they did eat most of my plants, but are cute!

Dinner, that is the big question. We are going to the fair this afternoon, and will meet up with Sarah when she is done to look at the arts vendors and of course the quilts. DH can't eat the food there, runs his blood sugar numbers through the roof, so may just bring a treat home, and do something simple here.

No barn painting, the wood is too damp - maybe tomorrow.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good Evening All....today is a "normal day".....and what is a normal day I hear you say......actually......its one where things are normal.....as in nothing much happening OR going wrong.....you don't know how glad that makes me feel.....I could do with a few more days like that......however.......I want to get another sewing machine.....please....please don't go and blurt it out.....I haven't told Sir yet.....I want to .....no....need.....to get a little lightweight one that I can take to our Afternoon Club from time to time.....I know I got a Singer Hand machine recently( for when the lights go out) we have had quite a few power cuts....but that's much too heavy to lift and carry.....so a little lightweight would be just the job....its just a question of.....well.....you know what non sewers are....even my Cindy says why do you need more than one machine.....poor child....didn't do a good job there.....(mind you she is 51 and still doest understand her mother).....will just have to work out a good time and just slot it into a conversation....its just not like hiding that extra fat quarter in your handbag.......

anyway.....we have still had to eat....while I have been cogitating on my dilemma.....

So todays menu......Bacon and Mushroom Taglatelli(sp) and Strawberry Cheesecake for afters.....

Carol.......something else I meant to say......will remember once I have posted this.........

Carol,

I bought a Singer Featherweight from a gent in England. It is a beautiful machine and light to carry. It is the same aga as I am! LOL I found his website by googling Singer Featherweights - he makes sure that they are in tip-top condition and includes a manual to know how to run and clean it. Wish I had the name, but it has been several years since I bought it. If I find it, I'll let you know.
