SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Aug 9th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Aug 09, 2014 2:58 am

Happy today, everyone!

Guess I was missing yesterday. I got called away from the computer, and never got back here. Then the construction on our road took out our internet, phone, and TV about 3pm. Everything was still out when we went to be last night at 10pm but was here this morning at 5am. Feel sorry for the poor Comcast guys who had to work all night because someone on the road construction crew got careless.

CHICKIE - wish we could get a hold of some of your melons! Bill will take the cantaloups and I'll have watermelon, please.

We didn't starve yesterday. We combined all the leftovers from 3 different meals and had a little feast. Tonite, because we have so many buns and burgers in the freezer, I think that's what we'll be having. And salad.

Tomorrow will be different - another dinner party for friends who are moving away. Seven folks. And the mover-away-ers are on a VERY strict diet and gave me a rather long list of banned foods. So I'm still scratching my head over the menu. I think they will be getting chicken, salad, and green beans.

Bon Appetit`!

Good morning from warm, sunny, yep you guessed it, purrrrfect, SW. Pa....So far this year, we haven't hit 90 and at night's you do need a sweater but this is great!

Mary, there are times when I think someone/thing should knock out my computer just so I could get more done....I have it on all day and have the "need" to see what's happening.....Nothing wrong with your menu, good eating....

Today is a nothing day around here...Little bit of laundry, little bit of uglies and I might do a little digging in the yard...I'm itching to get to my new fabric but if I get started on that, won't want to quit.....

Our dinner is going to be a repeat of last night...The cavatelli with my sauce was pretty good...Of course when Jim saw the dish, he asked if we were having company...I have a feeling we'll we having left overs again and again......

Happy eating............

Irish, I love left overs because it means I don't actually have to cook again. Fortunately, my DH doesn't mind them at all. I know people who won't eat anything after the first time, no matter how much is wasted. Guess I just wasn't brought up that way. Cavatelli sounds Italian--how do you make it? I'd have to use Alfredo sauce to get DH to eat it. Just can't imagine not liking anything tomatoey.

Mary, I'd swear you were raised Methodist rather than Catholic when you have every excuse to get together and eat! We Methodists love those "hot dish" suppers! So, when you have other guests, do you fix other dishes and just have a few selections for the special diet ones? I really wish you could have a bunch of our melons! I had a plate of cantaloupe and a salad for my brunch when I got home from town. DH had cereal for breakfast earlier, but he had a plate of watermelon with me.

We actually had rain! 1.8" total from a thunderstorm yesterday afternoon and another this morning. It was .9" each storm. The pastures and gardens are so happy! The ponds are envious--they need more to raise them from some runoff.

Tonight will be more summer fare. One of these days I'll have to cook something. Meanwhile, sandwiches and melons and tomatoes!

Good evening,

Just got backfrom the store. Dinner will be leftovers as well.

When I had all the growing teen- age boys in the house, there nevrr was leftovers. Now if Stu comes to visit, the refrig gets raided as well.

Us, Mormons love pot luck dinners too! The Ward loves to have parties. Here in Utah most of the churches have a outdoor covered area, sometimes called a bowery for parties. So count us in with all the other religions too! LOL
