SUPPER CLUB - Tues, July 29th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jul 29, 2014 5:10 am

Another beautiful morning here! The blackberries are about ready for picking on our morning walk, so tomorrow, I'll go with ziplocks in my pocket.

CHICKIE - Hope your building will be finished before long. I'm sweating just reading about it! Cam people really adjust to working hard out in such heat? Bill keeps telling me all I have to do is acclimate. I think bill is full of male bovine excrement.

IRISH - I'm happy to hear that Chriss is steadily, if slowly, improving. So Terry and Chris are both your sons. And your DD is Kathy (as is your DDIL). Do you have any more kidlets?

BECCA - so your kids are on the road again this morning, right? Do you know if they'll ferry over to Seattle from Bremerton or will they go back south of Puget Sound? I guess it despends on the route they want to follow going home.

CAROL - I hear your frustration. We have 2-1/2 acres and went to a meeting about a proposed development of 29 homes on just 5 acres! The corner of that 5-acre piece touches the corner of our property. We had 60 seconds to speak, it was obvious no one listened to us, and then they cut us off mid-sentence. And only one of us got to speak. The developer had open forum. We don't even bother to show up anymore.

JANA - I expect your 'builder' has gone home to do more good work with those fires. Will pray that his angel is on guard!

I have a thawed chicken breast so tonite I think we'll have a chicken/veggie stirfy over rice and a salad. I think I even have cooked rice in the freezer, so all I have to do is thaw, nuke, and fluff as far as the rice goes.

Hope your cooking chores are quick and easy tonite!

Good early afternoon from another cool, semi sunny, SW. Pa...They say (and we all know who "they" are) we're in for a few unlike summer days...Not to my liking but guess we gotta take what we get....

Today, half the troops are leaving for home...Terry, Stephan and Scout need to get back to N.C. and get ready for Stephan to head off to school and Terry to get his classroom ready...Hate to see them go!
Oh Mary, Chris and Terry are just 2 of the boys....We also have Jim (the oldest) and Kevin, (right in the middle) and of course Kathy...We had 3 boys, then Kathy in 5 years and then 5 years later Terry came along...There was to a couple more in between but it wasn't to be...Young Jim's DW, Lynnette, passed away 9 years ago when they're youngest was 10..She had broken her ankle and developed a blood clot and died before Jim could call the ambulance...Chris's wife is also a Kathy who we call Katie, but I still get her and Kathy mixed up....And when you start with the grand kids, almost everyone of the boys has James in his name, either 1st of middle...The kids always say, it's just easier to name a new baby boy James instead of trying to think up a new name.....Also easier on Gram, I just have to say, Jim and they all look.....

And as far as our dinner, that's a good question....I've been looking through some of my recipes, hoping something would pop and so far nothing has...Nick made waffles for breakfast and I hate to ask him to do dinner...But, I do have some nice looking round steaks that I might cut in strips and make stroganof (sp)...Noodles and a salad might fill the bill....Not sure about afters......

Happy eating................

Good afternoon! We had a run to town for rentals, and I went along and was dropped off to visit Mom for a bit. She requested that I bring in brown and orange fabrics so she could make some projects for her GGKs in Ohio (school colors). She was happy to see me, and we had a nice visit before DH came back after his repair job.

I don’t think I ever acclimate to working out in that weather. It really saps me. The kids do quite well. I’m totally amazed. I keep them well supplied with water and Gatorade. DH doesn’t work in it as well as he used to do. He takes more breaks, but he’s supposed to be supervising rather than working. He makes trips to the shop for tools and helps with some of the “ground” work—none of that aerial stuff for him now (thank goodness!). The kids look like monkeys on that skeleton and roof. I can’t watch.

I’m still craving those tamales. I think I’m going to make a tamale pie for dinner and have a salad or sliced tomatoes with it. I think all the dessert has vanished, but there are some Washington State cherries and California peaches, so that will be good.

Becca—I hope you gave those darling little ones some extra smooches for me. I miss having real little ones around. I saw the cutest little Amish baby yesterday. The two older (by not much) sisters were watching her and holding her. She was a chubby little thing in a bonnet and dress just like the sisters. She looked to be about 6 months old or maybe a little more. The little girls were probably 4 and 6.

Irish--That’s so funny about all the Jameses. The Amish all have Chris plus another middle name and maybe an initial and the same last name. Someone explained how that worked, but I can’t remember it now. It’s like instant genealogy. That’s so sad about Jim’s young wife. We have one son’s wife Michelle, and my DD also a Michelle but we call her Shelly. Another son has a wife Terri, and the third son’s wife is Theresa.

Both of your chicken dinners sound delicious. I’ll have to “file” them for later in the week. I also like the stroganoff idea and have those makin’s as well. Tomorrow I’m seeing my DD and will be bringing back chicken. I already have Mom’s order and will stop and drop it off to her as I return tomorrow evening.

Bon appetit!

Good afternoon,

I started stroganoff least night, grabbed a package of turkey sausage, instead! YUCKO! SoI just stretched the sauce from the night before and we had re-runs of spaghetti. The turkey sausge tasted nasty as well, not even fit for cat food. Fed Iit yo the garbage disposal.

I have some chicken, and need to make a run to the grocery store for milk and eggs. Sarah's chickens have just started to lay eggs, so shortly that part will be fresh.

Irish - a few generations back, we had a family name that changed from Ann Alice to Alice Ann, and then to Alice May - drives us doing the family history - genealogy nuts, trying to keep them straight!

Enjoy,
Jana

Ymmmm Mary, blackberries! Earl's daughter picked blueberries and I got 8 pints of them for the freezer..my favorite fruit!

Jana, Earl's brother has chickens that have just started to lay...pullet eggs, Earl calls them...like minature eggs! How cute to make deviled eggs out of them..lol! I love "real" eggs.

Last night was Pringle Dinner night at Hibachi Grill...yummy...as long as I didn't look at the octapus or crawdads...yucky!! They have spinach with cheese on top...it is AWESOME.

Tonight was Mama's Grill...we had burgers.

Weather is cool...I knew it would do this...cool the week before the Antique Machinery Show..then probably HOT and humid the week of the show....ugh! lol!
