SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, April 22nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Apr 22, 2014 3:41 am

We have pouring rain this morning! I may postpone or cancel my daily walk completely. My Wild Scottish Dog is a lot to handle as we splash through the mucky woods, up hills, around fallen trees, and across roads, with an umbrella held in one hand and a retractable leash in the other! And then is he ever a mess! I won't mention what I look like! lol!!

JANA - I bet your FIL was happy at such a great turnout to celebrate his birthday. But next time, I vote for white cake with chocolate frosting. Thanks.

BECCA - do you know what that weed is? Here it's dandelions and another, beautiful plant with lacy green leaves, maroon stems, and little purple flowers. I thought it was a real flower until my son saw it and informed me that it's one of the most invasive weeds around here! now it's everywhere!

CAROL - oh, make mine the Merlot, please! Sir will never notice a glass (or three) missing!

SUZ - we're fans of re-runs, too! Unless they are reruns of the reruns. That can get old . .

CHICKIE - I'm glad after all the cooking you did on Sunday that you get a rest on Monday.

IRISH - if you buy less at a time from Mr. Schwann's, he'll have to come back to your house more often. Just sayin' . . .

Tonite, no cooking for us! We're going to have supper with Warren and Lois and another couple at the A.L. facility. We reserve the private dining room and have a waiter all to ourselves. Their menu is pretty good, the food is fine, and it's $14/person. Tipping not allowed which is too bad because so far the wait staff have always been as good and attentive as any 5-star restaurant.

Tomorrow - we test out the new BBQ!

Good morning from a very dreary, rainy, slightly chilly, SW. Pa...Not a good day for a walk in these parts, either Mary...And there is no way our pampered cats would stick their noses out side....These cats were born outside and are quite content with having Jim and I wait on them hand and paw.....

Mary, I too have a problem with knowing if it's a weed....If it's pretty and blooms, it's a flower, I'm not picky....Now with Jim, you'd think he had an award winning yard the way he wages war on the dandelions...My friend in Florida actually wants me to send her some dandelions to see if they'd grow down there...And since she doesn't have the stink bugs, I told her I'd throw them in at no extra charge....
Mary, I've tried to watch what I get from Mr. Schwan, just for that reason...He does "visit" the area every other Monday so I do have time to try to empty the freezer..It would work if we didn't have so many leftovers, lol....

Becca, are you troubled with the stink bugs? It's really weird how some states have them and some don't...Even weirder, some friends that live just a couple of miles away don't have them....

Carol, could I interest you in any stink bugs??? I have plenty to go around...I really, really do enjoy your posts and look forward to seeing you.....

Well, once again, wonder what's going to fall out of the frig....DDIL, Cindy, gave us some lasagna and I'm thinking that and a salad should fit the bill or tummy....We do still have ham and a smidgen of macaroni salad but that can wait until tomorrow...If I play my cards right, I won't be cooking all week....

Happy eating...........

Good Morning everyone. We had sun then a shower & now it is clear.I got my walk in early to avoid rain.

MARYz My weed has blue flowers, runs like crazy & will take over everything.I got more out yesterday.I do not know the name.It spreads like wildfire.

IRISH We have the bugs that look like lady bugs. But they are almost gone here now. They are supposed to be moving up the Coast. We used to be covered up with them. The AG man told us if your house is Gray(ours is) they think it is a big rock & they hibernate over Winter.MyDS who works on Houses said most homes here have them.

Will be hot dogs for DH.hulley beans too.Chicken breast grilled, brocolli, carrots & honeydew melon.....Becca

MARYz The weed is the same as yours.I just pulled up some & it is purple with lacy leaves.Guess I hate it so I never really looked at it.
It wraps around other plants & strangles them out.Wound around my sweet Williams & azelas.UGH.Back to0 weeds.LOL Becca

Good Evening All......another wet and yakky day....but its not that chilly.....now that I am pleased to relate.....the chilly bit...not the wet bit....
We did have nice weather over the week-end.....and were able to get in a bit of garden tidying.....cutting grass....bit of weeding.....started on planting up the hanging baskets, they are now in residence in the greenhouse....until all signs of frosts are gone....well....must be honest here and say....Sir did most of the work....I quite happily....for a change....was chief tea/coffee and cake girl......

Maryz.....after the first bottle of Merlot.....am quite sure Sir wouldn't notice if you snaffled a glass or three.....actually this Merlot comes from Aldi.....and it was voted the very best and beat the pricey ones hands down......

Irish......not quite sure what your "stink bugs" are.....but with my luck of late.....they could well be aliens that turn out to be monsters.....so therefore I will decline your gracious offer....but thank you....I think.....

Sundays roast leg of lamb....was a good buy.....sunday lunch for 4...braised leftover Monday.....shepherds pie today.....and enough for another shepherds pie tomorrow.....so am pleased to report....I have another 2 taking up space in the freezer......they were on special offer at the local supermarket......

so shepherds pie...carrots and cabbage todays menu.....and I came home from Abergavenny with a couple of fresh cream cakes.....oh alright then.....4 cream cakes(but they weren't very big.....honest) so they are for todays afters

Carol
