Re: Wednesday, April 16th
Quick Hi, then I have to get busy.
Since DGD will be in a cast for several weeks, I went and bought 8 T Shirts for her. I struggled last evening trying to figure the first one out. I opened the shoulders and sleeves up, sewed a piece of ribbon (the dull stuff with lines, can't think of the name) on each edge. Thought I could just sew on some ribbon and it could be tied closed. Ribbon didn't work. Didn't lay right. So I hunted up snaps and will have to use them. Only problem there is the snaps I have are in the variety size packs. Figure I need 2 - 3 for each shoulder and sleeve. Guess I will start with largest size at neck and step down a size as I go toward sleeve. Have to get these all done today and mailed. DGD will be able to pull them over her head or step into them. They do make some cute shirts these days for kids.
It will be another windy day.
Chriss - Saturday Kaylyn and family were at friends house. The people have a Zip-line. She went down several times, but got tired on the last run and lost her grip. Fell about 8 feet.
Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning Girls
Just another quick note as I am in the process of getting ready for work! Friday I work late shift, so then I'll have a little more time to get caught up with y'all.
Not much happening around here anyway.. The ceiling guy is coming later this morning to finish up the downstairs ceiling, so I may paint this weekend. Not sure what the kids are up to for Easter, I suppose I should at least call them and offer to cook dinner. LOL If the boys are going to their in-laws for the day, that would be fine!
You all are in my prayers daily, especially for Suzette's DH, for Cindyg and Don, Lyn's DGD and for all that need them... and even if you don't --- I ask God to bless you all!
See you on Friday!

Suz - those Color Catchers are the berries. If I have vivid, deep colors I usually wash them twice with a new Color Catcher each time.....just in case.
Scrap - what is this study you are talking about. Are you studying something or is someone studying you?
Lois - now you've got me curious as to what happened on Dallas.
Vicky - I hate it when I don't have yardages. It means I have to do the math and there is usually operator error when that happens - LOL. You will have an enjoyable day with your friend and Tia's babies.
Becca - your baby quilt sounds cute! This weather is crazy. The Azaleas are finished blooming and yet it was almost freezing outside this morning. That's just not right!
Sherry - I think you are a strong, sweet person to even make and take funeral food. It must be so hard. Yesterday was a kind of sad day for us, too, as it was Ed's birthday. Last year at this time we never dreamed he would no longer be with us. Hey, if you need help eating that banana cake.....
Sandy - BOING BOING BOING and I hope you have a marvelous time.
Judi - I saw the picture of your sink. Love it. I can see where you can't have a base plate (or whatever they call it). Yummmmm chicken fajitas.
Chriss - my car needs it's oil changed, too. You crack me up - Jerry looks pitiful if he doesn't get a nap - LOL. What a great weekend you have planned. It's good to be you.
Today will be a long one. I couldn't sleep last night because of the pain in my hip - kept tossing and turning trying to find a good position and went out to the love seat twice, the last time being about 3:30 AM when I finally found a comfy position and slept for a couple of hours. So now my head keeps nodding and I feel fuzzy. Coffee isn't quite doing the trick this morning. Don is doing good and has his follow up appointment next Monday. He really wants that catheter gone - I don't blame him. Last night I didn't sew. I read a trailer magazine and two quilty magazines and just vegged out.
I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Lyn - it's gross grain ribbon you are taking about I think. You could put zippers down the shoulder and sleeves. You are a good grandma.
Maryq - we aren't doing anything for Easter either. What color are you going to paint?

Good Sunny Snow all over Morning....
We got a good dusting here I'm surprised it's still on the ground what with all the wind howling all night. It's in the 20s but the snow is melting already.
The bears are almost done & I'll stop tomorrow to get some Poly fill. I still have fur for maybe 2 more bears. I'm thinking of making them for my DD & DSIL. Then the whole will have a bear....LOL!
Suzette.....sounds like you had a whole season of weather in one day. Hope you get to finish the Braid today.
Lea....it's a shame how going to work cuts into your sewing time but with out it no fabric. It sounds like work is going well for you.
Lois....I can't wait to see your quilt. I love the bird houses. If that swap ever comes along again I'll do it.
Vicky.....it is too bad you don't get yardage. It's like when you buy a kit & you do not get the pattern. Have a wonderful visit today.
Becca....embroidery is perfect for a baby quilt. Soup sounds perfect I'll be over. I'd like to make some beef barley.
Sherry....baked beans warm up the whole house & it smells so good. I want to make Easter bread but it's too much for one person. Happy sewing!!
Sandy....I can see you all the way over here! Have a wonderful time.
Judi....thanks for the Chrissy update. How wonderful for her. Sorry about the cleaning but I hope you get all the sewing done.
Chriss...I have to pull my royals out to send for an OK. I'm so looking forward to this swap. I have organized the bears arms & legs so they'll look normal.
Lyn....you are a wonderful Grand mother. The t-shirts sound like a wonderful Idea. Sorry the ribbon didn't work.
Maryq....have a good work day. See you Friday.
Love & Prayers to all in need or broken((hugs))...........Kathy

Good Morning all......
What a surprise I had this morning during feeding..........there in the stall lay a baby!!!!!!
Mare belongs to my farrier who had heart surgery and asked me to foal out his horse. He said she was due first of March......6 weeks later a baby. Boy did he get his dates wrong. I checked her last night and she showed no signs of imminent birth, and of course it was down in the 20's last night......but we have a snug barn and things went well even without me in attendance.
So had to clean her stall right away.....entirely too much effort that early in the morning, lol. Now, coffee and a bit of oatmeal and socialize for a spell.
Yesterday was cold and windy so I finished up one pink hat and started another, that and laundry and housework took my day.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Joyce

Re: Wednesday, April 16th
Good morning! It’s sunny here and still until the wind rises. The dock looks good. Now we need rain to fill the pond. I imagine we will try some fishing off it today.
It was so good to see Scrappy Pat post a note!
Did you see El’s new fabric line? It looks like all the Ellie Ann fabrics in new colors that I missed in Ellie Ann. This one is Zoey Christine and it’s beautiful!
Suzette—you had our weather from earlier this week. I could kiss the person who invented color catchers! I read somewhere how you could make your own. (And I’m not talking tidy whities in the red load.) Best wishes for your DH!
Scrap—Lea, hope your river doesn’t flood. Does it do it often?
Lois—Enjoy your day! I need to go get my things for this weekend’s cooking marathon. I’ll go tomorrow or Friday.
Vicky—I wonder if there are any demos on the internet for your ruler and maybe some yardage requirements. I don’t have a book or a ruler… yet. Enjoy your day!
Becca—Your quilt sounds darling! I picture it really cute! Maybe you can find a Little Golden Book of nursery rhymes to go with it. I’m always surprised that so many people have no idea what nursery rhymes are/were. Soup is always in order!
Sherry—We have our run off going into our pond, too. We have so much rock here. Apparently when the dam was built, there was a seam of rock that never sealed. Are there quilt shops in Toledo? I felt the same way about funerals after my late DH; we still try to go to the visitations and not the service unless we must.
Edie Anne—good morning to you! Hope you are going to see Spring in Canada one of these days!
Sandy—how exciting!!! We will look forward to photos so we can go with you!
Judi—We like fajitas. I usually use a piece of left over steak to stretch it out, but I like chicken best. We will have a re-run on last night’s meatloaf. I’ll probably have a ML sandwich.
Chrissy1—sounds like a wonderful view! It’s good to be you!
Chriss—bring along all our friends on your way! What’s a few more eggs and biscuits. I can add more milk to the gravy, too. There will be plenty of bacon and sausage as well. I wish I could go with you to the sale, too! I would have to stop at a flower stall and get a gardenia.
Lyn—That’s so good of you to make the “Easy On” shirts for your DGD! Is it warm where she is? The “pillow case” dresses are cute and easy on. I think the satin ribbon would lay better; it might not hold up as well. You would have to knot the ends so they didn’t fray out. What about Velcro instead of snaps on some of them? Do they still make baby t-shirts with the snap shoulders? Good luck with your creations! Your poor DGD—right at the beginning of spring/summer!
MaryQ—The only thing wrong with going in late is getting off late. I always preferred going in early. Here’s to Friday! Did you take before photos of your redecorating? Be careful of the offer to cook—you may end up with a crowd!
Cindy—sometimes we need a vege-out! I’m sorry you haven’t found pain relief yet. You need a power nap on a break today!
Well, our wind has come up. Hold on to your hair, hats, skirts…
Kathy—your bears sound darling! They would be cute even with wonky arms and legs! Our snow didn’t stick here—was just cold for a day and a night.
Joyce—isn’t that how most babies come… in a storm or colder than blazes! So glad it all went well for your guest horse and her owner in absence! We had a new calf yesterday.
I’m going to do some house work today since I sloughed off yesterday and worked on the birdhouse blocks and cooked. Maybe I’ll get some more attic window frames on some more blocks if I’m lucky enough to get to my sewing room. I need to go dry my hair and put on my face...
Enjoy today!

Good Morning,
SUZ - your quilt sounds pretty. When I used batiks in my Alaskan Quilt last year they bled when I washed it even though I prewashed all the fabrics. Thank goodness for Color Catchers! I also have Retayne but haven't really used it yet.
LEAH - what is your study studying?
LOIS - I'm going for groceries this morning, too. After my eye appointment.
VICKY - what wedding quilt are you making? I must have missed that. What color/fabrics are you using? Does Emily like to sew?
BECCA - your embroidered squares sound so cute! It's nice to see some of the old traditional characters for babies.
SHERRY - I understand not being able to face a funeral yet, but how generous of you to make beans. Enjoy your supper out tonite. How is Smoke doing?
SANDY - this forum is so great to meet friends! I've even gotten to meet more than a dozen of our members in person. And yes, I'm counting my Sis-I-L as one of them!
JUDI - you have a busy day planned! I'm anxious to see your Christmas quilts when they are finished. I know you shared a photo back when you started, but I've forgotten exactly what it looks like.
CHRISS - you DO have a lot of good things coming your way. And you reminded me that my travel sewing machine is ready to be picked up after a couple weeks at the spa. Would love to go to the book sale with you. Maybe we can meet at your end of the Golden Gate and go together . . .
LYN - Does Kaylyn see the ortho tomorrow? I thought when you rode a zip line, you were clipped to the line just in case you lost your grip. But maybe that's just the big ones that tourists ride. You'll be leaving for home in 2 weeks, won't you?
MARY Q - you wear me out! You work full time, you are a prolific quilter, and you do so much at home! I burn calories just reading of your day!
CINDY - someone said you have an orthopedic appointment next Tuesday. So long to wait when you're in pain. Glad Don is doing well. But know he'll be doing much better when the cath comes out. On the plus side, he doesn't have to get up in the middle of the night! I didn't know it was Ed's birthday yesterday. Did you talk to Vicki?
KATHY - your bears sound so cute! Maybe Kim needs a bear, too.
JOYCE - I bet you are the only member of our forum to wake up to a new baby horse today! congratulations! Even if you're just the surrogate mom! lol!
I didn't do much yesterday. 1-1/2 hrs of yard work, some work on my blue/white blocks (have 2 done!) and some reading. It was a low energy day.
This morning I go to the eye doctor and then do some grocery shopping. Then DH and I will probably go to Costco to pick up the rest of what we need. It's supposed to be rainy, so I think I'll be forced to stay inside and sew. Poor 'lil ole me!
If you can't actually sew today, at least go stroke your fabric today. Like stroking a cat, it can lower your blood pressure. I'm almost certain of that! lol!

CHICKIE - so sorry I missed you! Too busy yakking, I guess. Looks like you have an open door policy for brunch! You'll never notice if Bill and I pop in. You might notice Scottie, though. He'll make sure of that! Glad you had a slough off day. I did, too. Loved it! I will do something today so that I can listen to my audio library book. It's due in 3 days and if I don't finish it, it will go *POOF*! Just like a real book, only the library can snatch it back from you when it's due.

Re: Wednesday, April 16th
Good morning!
Suzette – glad DH is doing ok. I agree with all you say about batiks. I love them also.
Leah – we’re half-way through the month – sewing is only a couple of weeks away.
Lois – enjoy your day off.
Vicky – that is a shame about no yardages. Have a lovely visit with the babies and your friend.
Becca – I bet your embroidery is beautiful. A pot of soup sounds delicious. I wish we could do uglies once and that would be it for awhile – kind of like painting a room. I remember asking our plumber what faucet he recommended – all I remember was that it cost $800 and that was 22 years ago!
Sherry – that’s so sweet of you to drop off baked beans. Are you close to Toledo? Remembering that city’s name is the only way I know which way to go when I get on I-75 heading up to DS2’s house. Is your appt just a checkup of sorts? Stay warm and happy sewing.
EdieAnne – thanks – I’ll go check that out.
Sandy – have a fabulous time! Wish I was going – it would be great to see you again.
Judi – enjoy your gym time. I loved the way Sophia decorated you yesterday. Fajitas sound good to me.
Chriss – the book sale sounds fab. Looks like you are set to go come vacation time. Yes, DHs sure can look pitiful. I agree about show content.
Lyn – great idea on the t-shirts.
Maryq – how sweet of you to offer to cook. And thanks for the prayers! See you this weekend.
Cindyg – glad you have an appt and that you were able to grab a couple of hours sleep.
Kathy – I love the idea of the whole family having a bear! Hope it warms up out your way soon.
Miriam – Count me in for the biscuits and gravy. Good for you for ‘sloughing off’ and working on your BH quilts!
Maryz – hope you studied for your eye test. Have fun at the Costco!
Today is our last Bible study and we’re having a brunch. Better get – I had plenty of time before I started my note, but then DS2 called. DS1’s dog (my first granddog) had surgery yesterday to remove a 12 cm mass on his liver, and they took out his spleen also. DS1 has pet insurance so it’s covered. Theo (the dog) is 10 and part german shepherd/great Pyrenees. He’s my son’s first pet, and I remember how hard it is to let them go. The vet said this would give Theo another two years, so…. Have a great day! xoxo Sharona
