Good morning all,
We are brisk here still. I look at David every day and tell him there is no way I could live in Alaska! But the days are getting longer and it is nice to wake up with the sun coming up and to still have it up at 5pm. Spring will come.

Chriss - It is fun to have a new project to work on, isn't it? I had to smile about Marilyn's friend that is a picky eater. We felt like we were old-fashioned parents when we raised our girls because we made them eat what we cooked. But most of our friends let their kids dictate what they would and would not eat so that some of them were making one meal for mom and dad and then each child had an individual meal. The most extreme was one of Elizabeth's friends who had a very small list of foods she would eat so that as a high schooler she had never eaten most vegetables, or an apple - just apple sauce, or a banana, etc. She would not even eat a piece of cake at Elizabeth's birthday because it was not chocolate cake. She would bring her packages of junk food with her if she spent the night and that is what she ate.

Sharona - I hope your heating guy shows up soon. Were they able to get your pocket door installed yet?

Linda - we had a gentleman in our church who developed double vision, and he did the eye patch for awhile and it did clear up so I hope it is the same for you.

I made a german chocolate cake for Elizabeth's birthday. I used to hate the frosting on that cake when I was growing up, but I sure love it now! It is my dad's favorite cake.

Have a wonderful day everyone,
Karlene

Sherry - good to see you. It's great that you stopped at JoAnn's. You are going thru an extreme life change and so getting back to the things you love to do helps with getting back to "normal".

Judi - I meant to tell you that I have gone back to the once-a-month bone pill and it doesn't make me feel sick. Those weekly ones made me feel like I was getting the flu. For HST's I love Thangles. They come out perfect every time. I'm also thinking about getting Triangulations so I can have the triangle papers at my fingertips whenever I want them.

Karlene - we were made to eat what ever was prepared and that's the way I raised my kids, too. I have friends with a teenage daughter but when she was little all she would eat was mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and biscuits and gravy. She was getting pretty hefty but then she started swimming and is now in competition swimming so she's slimming down some. Now me - I'm a big roly-poly and I love German chocolate cake - LOL.

Good morning! It is SUNNY here! We are still not getting above freezing today, but SUN is everything! It’s 12 as I write. It just “looks” warmer.

Last evening I was sucked into Pinterest for a bit—then I found a recipe. My DH loves dessert and I found a quick, easy and reasonably healthy one with just two ingredients that I had in the pantry: 1 yellow cake mix, 1 can pumpkin. Mix together well, put into muffin papers (I got 16), bake 22-25 minutes @ 350 degrees. I added a little pumpkin pie spice and some chopped pecans and frosted them with a little cream cheese frosting I had in the fridge. They are delicious, and DH loved them. The notes also said you can use chocolate cake mix and add nuts, chocolate chips, etc. I think the chocolate ones would be delicious with peanut butter spread on top of them.

I’m watching the Westminster Dog Show as I type, and Odie and Tinker Bell are in the recliners watching as well.

Shirley Mae—fortunately you had put the water and coffee in your pot the night before! Best wishes to you for Rod’s continuing healing.

Minniewolfe—Linda… I do hope you get an answer. Not knowing is the worst part of it all. I hope you can get this problem fixed soon!

Karlene—I tell my DH the same thing! Isn’t it amazing what the sun does to our outlook!

My nephew was a picky eater. Carrots and peanut butter and not much else. He is now over 6’ tall and you can’t tell he ever had food issues.

Suzette—I’m always amazed at the amount of information that’s needed for anything. Enjoy your day tomorrow!

Sooz—I’m practically dancing today with the sun. Too bad Thursday I’ll be inside waiting at a rental for the inspector to come. They are worse than cable—at least cable tells you a.m. or p.m. The HUD people say 8:30 – 4:30. They don’t give you the courtesy of a call if they can’t make it, either. One year we went in and waited all day. (Grrrrrrr!)

Lois—hang in there!!! I can cry with you about the s- - -.

Lois—best wishes to your DH! I’m not sure I’m patiently waiting for spring. Have I mentioned I’m sick of snow, too.

Vicky—enjoy your day with Em and your friend! Hope you are feeling much better!

Suzette—I was surprised Shirley Temple was “only” 85.

Kathy2—Hope we get to see your quilt!

Scrap48—you are figuring out technology! Way to go!

Debi—congratulations to your wee grandson! What an exciting milestone for him.

Kathy—The snow is pretty as long as I’m not out in it. Actually, I never minded shoveling it, either. I like the speed skating.

Becca—I love the idea of those bags. My sister’s church does them at Christmas. They would be nice a few times a year.

MaryZ—the Sheltie is on the show now. It looks like Snickers. (Sniff, sniff!) So pretty! I think Scottie was marking his territory when he was being naughty. He’s already asserting himself. He is such a cutie! (Even when he is being annoying!) We had an inch or two more snow over the weekend. The pretty floors aren’t so pretty.

Chriss—so far we have been fortunate that power outages are at the most an hour or less. Twice, years ago, I was without for a week in sub-teens weather with no heat. What a miserable mess!

Cindy—I can tolerate the weekly bone density pills but not the monthly ones. Guess that’s why there are several types. When you grow up poor, you eat what you get because there may not be a next time… at least for awhile.

I’m working on a little layer cake quilt that is going together quickly. I need to order some backing for it.

DH has a meeting today, so I’m going to sweep the floors, get a load of sheets in the wash, and head for my sewing machine…

Enjoy today!

Dr called......I have C-Diff. I have to go on a different antibiotic.
Stay on this applesauce and banana diet and wait it out I guess.

Vicky

For those that don't know

Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) is a bacterium that causes diarrhea and more serious intestinal conditions such as colitis. Symptoms include
• Watery diarrhea (at least three bowel movements per day for two or more days)
• Fever
• Loss of appetite
• Nausea
• Abdominal pain or tenderness

You might get C. difficile disease if you have an illness that requires prolonged use of antibiotics. Increasingly, the disease can also be spread in the hospital. The elderly are also at risk. Treatment is with antibiotics.

Vicky - I'm glad they were able to diagnose it for you so they can be giving you the right treatment.

Cindyg - I think the waiting for results is one of the hardest parts, but you are right, there is no need to get worked up about what you don't know yet.

Miriam - that is too cute with the doggies watching the dog show.

Good morning!

Been AWOL for a couple of days - just running around getting things done. Now that Ethan is with his mom, I don't have to wait to make shopping runs until after nap times, late in the afternoon.

I have been on a organizing kick - started in the laundry room and got new totes for the shelves in there to hold all the items in one neat space! Also working on the master suite closet - totes in there too to hold all the linens and stuff - I don't have a linen closet in the master suite, so I am figuring out how to make it all work.

Half of my birds are on their birdhouses. I will be letting the machine do it's thing while I watch the Mystery Webinar this morning.

I have decided that I will no longer complain about the snow and rain! We need it so badly here. A couple of weeks ago, there was held, a Fast and Prayer by a group of religions - all different denominations together -asking for relief of the drought in the West - well - the Pineapple express showed up early and we here in Utah went from a 72% of normal snowpack in the mountains to 91% - prayers answered. In California, Folsom lake rose 8 feet in depth - that is such good news for there too. Sometimes it takes the faith of a child - like a little girl showing up to a prayer meeting for rain with a umbrella.

California is only big in one direction - doesn't take long to go side to side! LOL

Today is my Activity Day girls - no sewing this week - but it will be fun anyway!

Do Something Fun!!!!!
Hugs,
Jana

Vicky--so glad you have a diagnosis and are going to get treatment!!! Take lots of fluids and don't get dehydrated. It's not fun being ill, and it can get too serious if not treated. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Good afternoon from sunny but very, very cold, SW. Pa....But as Chickie posted, with the sun, it looks so much warmer (just don't go outside).....

Not much happening in this neck of the woods....We're hibernating like the rest of you....But, one of these days, IT HAS TO GET WARM, right????? Just at breakfast last Sunday, the other Jim said, we'll all probably be complaining about the heat before long...But, that's not going to be me, never ever complain about the heat......

Much to my dismay, neighbor Ted, came over and fixed my oven..Jim had mentioned to him that we were going shopping and sure enough, here comes Ted with his tool box...This man can do anything but darn, I wanted a new stove...He did say, it might not last long, so I'll get my wish.....

Shirley Mae, I feel so bad about Rod and his skin cancer problems...After seeing all the surgeries Jim has had, I know what you're going through...But, we are so thankful it can be taken care of....Is he having the MOHs treatment? And you're not the only one with "coffee" problems...The other morning, Jim said, pot isn't working...I was still upstairs and said, maybe I had forgotten to add the water the night before so he filled it with water...Well, guess who didn't have it plugged in and then you can imagine what happened to the extra water after he turned it on......An early kitchen counter clean up!

Chickie, I too was watching the dog show last night and I just loved that English bulldog although he didn't win....And I'm worry, but the poodles (in my opinion) look strange...I keep waiting for 1 of those dogs to turn around and take a bite out of the judges' hand.....

Chriss, It's always good to get a new project, makes the time go much faster....I've been thinking of Marilyn's picky eater friend...With us having a big family, my kids learned to eat almost everything (even liver when we had it)...I have a neighbor who only had 2 kids and no one in the family would eat or liked the same thing...She spent her day cooking separate dishes....I just couldn't imagine....My DS's oldest DS didn't want anything touching on his plate and would want a clean fork...My kids still tease him and he's 54.....Funny, funny things.....And please keep my name on your list and give it to whoever wants it, especially if they want to send money.....

Oh well, better get moving....Sorry I haven't gabbed to all of you but know that I've read all the posts....I decided to change my bathroom from frilly pink to Irish green...Normally I have it green for winter but with the wall papering etc. I didn't get it done...So, I'll be ready for St. Patrick's Day....

You all have a great day............

Good morning everyone! I have both my grandbabies today, we are a fine threesome; all sicko's coughing LOL I think Jaz just wanted a day with Grandma because Easton gets to be here every day ;o) that's ok with me :o)
Well I guess I'm having senior moments LOL I read and now can't remember.....let me scan back LOL
When my kids were growing up I made food and they ate it, I told them I didn't run a restaurant so we all ate the same thing, I did try to make sure I didn't "add" things like onions and things, I was made to eat them when I was little and I would gag, they could be added to each ones plate if they wanted. I now cook with onions in some dishes and peppers and a few other things I didn't use to. :o) My DD had a friend and us Moms got to be really good friends but Oh My, there were 5 of them and she would make 5 different meals every time she cooked...breakfast, lunch and supper, I told her she was crazy!
Chriss, yes add my address to your list :o) Yep breathing is good :o) I hope you always have power too, it's a good thing ;o)
I watched every Shirley Temple movie, I loved them all and have a few and Jaz loves watching them with me, so sad to hear she has passed.
Kathy, I love snow! I wish we could take everyones that don't want theirs! :o)
Maryz, Scottie wasn't naughty LOL it was an easy fix :o) he was just like a little kid playing with a friend.....time just got away from him and it was way more fun to stay and play LOL
Cindyg, good thoughts and prayers for your Dh and Sis.
Sherry, I hope you get caught up with your blocks, anything to help you relax and occupy your thoughts :o)
GrammieQ, what Christmas quilt pattern are you working on? I must have missed it.
Cindyg, I used to cross Texas every year until I was 22 on our way to Virginia and then to Indiana, there are parts of Texas I love to travel through :o) it does take quite awhile though LOL I'd love to be able to go again :o)
Chickie, I'll go see if I can find you on Pinterest and follow you :o) I've been adding a few things to my pins lately :o) I try not to go browsing around too much because BAM a few hours will be gone before I know it! LOL
Vicky, has your Dr said to eat yogurt or drink the probiotic? It works wonders! I have to eat extra yogurt after I take a RX because they cause problems for my system but if I eat yogurt at least twice a day I usuall get over it within a few days but I stay on the yogurt for as long as I can.....yummy ;o)
Karlene, I'm just like you with the frosting......kid-yucko......now YUMMY! LOL
Izzy, poor babies I hope they stay warm! That has got to be so worrisome for you with the storms and babies.
Jana, I prefer to go nowhere with Easton LOL I can carry him just fine but him in his carseat carrier is too heavy for me. I like to stay home though LOL I think I'm becoming a hermit.
Shirley Mae, I hope everything works out! It was good news about most of those biopsys :o) now just to get those few zapped! Huggs
Well I better get while the gettin is good. Easton is asleep and Jaz is watching PBS. It's been a pretty quiet morning. I hope you all have a wonderful day! I know I've missed some, sorry. I am thinking of you all! Prayers for those in need.
Tina
