Hi y'all. I have an auditor coming in a few minutes. I forgot all about it so first thing this morning I had to get out all the records he needs to see. My appliances finally came a little after 5:00 Saturday. YEA! My Christmas stuff is almost all packed up. I just have to clear the dining room table of the centerpiece that I threw together and wash the Christmas table cloth and nappies. I've been very lazy. I didn't even get out of my pajamas yesterday. Reading about all the cold weather I'm now worried about my 221 Featherweight I have in the 5th wheel. It's going down to the teens tonight so I'm worried about her.

Lois - I hope your "back to normal" goes great today.

Suz - since heat rises I assume the basement will be freezing? I think you are safe leaving your machine in your sewing studio as long as the heat is on out there enough to keep the temps above freezing.

Teresa - I hope you could go back to sleep easily after you got up from your nap and went to bed.

Dolores - we will be warming up, too. By Thursday it is suppose to be 70*. Thank goodness we are not having any rain. Houstonians do NOT do well driving on ice. I refuse to drive on ice myself.

Velda - you and Lyn have fun getting fabric today. Will you do lunch?

Izzy - sorry you have a bum arm. Is it better today?

Becca - I have to get off my heart meds, too, when I'm having any procedures done. I don't notice any difference in how I feel...or maybe I'm just too stupid to realize it.

Judi - sorry about your stomach virus. I hate that myself. Lordy, thinking about your temps up there makes my bones hurt!

Chriss - good luck with Marilyn keeping her room clean. LOL Sorry about your low water table. I heard that CA is in a draught. We are still reeling from our severe draught summer before last. So many dead trees and they cause power outages. So very many trees have been cut down and still we see dead trees everywhere.

Gotta run. Auditor should be here any minute.

Good Rainy Warm(55), Morning......

I AM HOME!!! Happy to be here. The ride home was long & slow with many slippery areas. When I got behind someone going 40 I didn't pass the slush between lanes was slippery. My DD is doing & looking so much better than the last time I saw her. The IV treatment knocks her down each time she has one. Her last wound has 3 tiny open spots once their closed the IV ends. I'm praying the end of this month. She still has had no PT for the ankle. she needs to do that & she is in desperate need if treatment for depression. It seem like this will have a forever effect on her life. On the fun side I have 6 bags of "much needed" things I bought at the .99 & $1 stores.

Good morning!

just stealing time on DH's computer - had to pay the bills - so I did it on his -maybe that will leave more money for me - LOL

Not much going on here - will start to work on the birdhouse blocks - I have most of the fabric that I want to use - just need to find one more piece - but I can do most of the blocks. Got the pattern snafu worked out and printed off the paper piecing pattern to use - the first ones that I printed were way too big - but that was because of operator error.

We are at a balmy 15 degrees - DH is pacing and wants his computer back - BBL later -

Hugs
Jana

Good morning to all,
It's my first day back at work also after two weeks off. I think I have finished going through all the back-log of stuff that built up so it's onwards and upwards from here! We actually got above freezing last night and had a little rain, so when the temps started to drop this morning, there was a nice glaze of ice on everything. We dropped my little yellow car off to get it's inspection so I'm back to driving the pick-up for awhile. I like a little car. I do not have great driving skills so I maneuver around much better in a little car! (Although it is nice to feel tall in the truck!)

I have a question to throw out for some group wisdom. Elizabeth was asked by a customer if she was seeing anyone and was given the phone number of this guy to 'contact'. She felt trapped because she is in a customer service rope at her job, and did not have a quick response to give him so he would not pursue her. I know my SIL used to wear a fake wedding band when she worked at a restaurant. What advice to you have for a practiced response that she could give that is honest but gives the clear message that she is not interested without interfering with her customer service requirements?

Chriss - I keep forgetting to tell you that David was a volunteer fireman when we lived in CO. I thought for sure he would sign up with the department here when we moved, but he decided not to.

Kathy - it is so good to hear how good Kim is doing. Nine months - that has been a long journey for her.

Maryz - I never found out how much wood you ended up with. Was it enough for the whole winter? a couple of winters?

Have a great afternoon,
Karlene

Good Morning Girls

Little late this morning, but I have the day off and am enjoying every minute of it! Wind chill is 45 BELOW so I'm glad to be in the nice warm house. Tho I was going to go to Joann today... I think NOT!
It's kind of deceiving out there.. the sun is so bright!

Lois... I hope your first day is going well and that your co-workers are happy to see you back. Temps in the 50's! Sounds like a heat wave to me! We won't see that until March!

Kathy... Welcome home!! So glad to hear you DD is doing so much better! Don't you just hate driving in the snow!

Cindyg... Hope that isn't an IRS auditor... those guys scare me! you're down to the Teens? That's gotta be COLD for you!

Chriss... any bets on how long Mar's room will stay clean? Bet it feels good to have that project done!

Judi...you are feeling better today? I'm so glad we didn't get that snow here. Your schools are closed too. Not sure if they are closing here tomorrow yet. My son works outside most of the time so he took today off to stay home with the kids. Their day care is at the school.

Becca... all good thoughts for your DH at the DDS today.

Izzy... Oh yes.. sewing always makes everything better. I'm headed down to my sewing room pretty soon to see what I can do for bird houses. I have so many projects I'd love to do today! LOVE being home!

Velda... is there a Joann near you? I was so wanting to go there today as I had a coupon for 25% off everything and it expires tomorrow. Maybe I can stop on my way home from work tomorrow... not that I need anything...but 25% OFF everything!! hate to waste it!

Teresa... hope all goes well for you at the Dr today! Here's my trick for not napping too long... a big glass of water--in an hour or so I have to go potty! Wakes me up every time. I too updated my SP hints. Can't wait to get my pal name!

Suzette.. I'm a firm believer that sewing is good for you... good for endorphins which make us happier.

Karlene... how odd for a customer to give Eliz. a guys phone no.! I would just say something like "I'll keep that in mind" or "thanks, I'll keep the number handing in case I'm looking for someone." Besides I don't think I'd call some random guy. That's just weird

Guess I better get butt in gear. All I've done so far is clean the kitchen. Need to throw some sheets in the wash and as luck would have it the sewing room is right down the hall... so since I'm going that way I might as well sew!

Hope you all have a most wonderful day

Good Morning,

I've read what everyone is doing. If my machine were in that cold, I'd bring it in. If I couldn't get to it, like Cindy, I'd just make sure it was warmed up well before trying to use it. You want to make sure that grease inside the little Featherweights isn't too thick. But you might call a Featherweight expert and ask them.

I had an early morning massage this morning and I think he fixed up all my dis-allignment and owies from my tumble last week. And by having that appointment, I didn't have to be the one who took Scottie to HIS appointment! Today is his de-manning day. When DH got home I asked him if he cried when he left is boy there. He said 'almost'. He hates doing things like that.

My birdhouse blocks are all pieced and now I'm working on stitching down those little finches. Hope to get more of them finished today, but we're also on a round of errands.

Hope everyone is OK in the weather. We're just below freezing and dry, but rain is moving our way late this week. But no snow like so many of you.

LOIS - good luck back at work! I know you only work part time, but do you work full days? I hope you can start with only half days this week.

gotta go! Will check back later!

Good morning! It's cold here, too. After reading MaryQ's post... I won't complain. Brrrrr! I fed the birds and plugged in the heated dog dish for a bird bath/water source. The pond froze over when the wind died down. I'm trying to do hand quilting today and keep DH from going nuts from cabin fever. He doesn't deal with being cooped up as well as I do.

Stay in and stay warm!

Good afternoon from SW. Pa, a "Winter Wonderland"...Of course, that's if you're inside looking out...It's to dip very, very low tonight but come the weekend (if we can hang on), the temps are going to climb.....

With all the snow, Jim had a call early this morning asking if he wanted to have his surgery done today instead of Wed. Well, it was too early for me to even think about it but off he went...So, all morning I've been worried that I didn't go with him...His cousin is the surgeon and probably had a bunch of cancelations so let's work on Jim.....This is the MOHs treatment and that can take all day.........

Not really accomplishing too much...Do have the laundry done and decided to pull out some quilt squares to embroider...I need something to do while sitting in front of the boob tube or I'll fall asleep...

Jana, wow, it sure was a nail bitter....SF has been one of my favorites since Joe Montana played..He was originally from the area and Jim got to know him at Notre Dame and are good friends..If it can't be our Steelers, I hope it's SF....Between that game and our Penguins, it was an exciting day....

Karlene, that is a little spooky...I like the idea of wearing a fake ring....And, I also agree about the long driving (unless it's going to Florida)...But, I'm sure there is some place half way where we could meet up.....It only takes me about an hour to get to Grove City....We'll work something out, I'm sure.....

Maryz, When I think of the "demanning", I think of that commercial where the dog jumps out of the car when he heard "that" word...He'll be coming home today, won't he? It seemed we always had someone in our "recovery room" after those vet visits...I felt so sorry for them and spent many nights sleeping in that room....

Lois, happy to hear you're able to go back to work, not that you're back to work...It probably will be a very long day so make sure you rest when you get home.....

Kathy, I can imagine how good it felt seeing how much better Kim is doing...As much as you talk to them on the phone, you just need to see them in person every once in awhile....

Judi, Glad to hear you're feeling better....I laughed about the things the store was out of..You're right, priorities.....Yesterday, as we went past a few stores, I noticed, the lots were packed...I think I'd do without rather than try to get through those crowds....

Izzy, when you tell about the work you are doing on the farm, makes me really happy Jim came along and brought me to the big city, lol...You are something! Also happy to hear you get a couple more days off....

Chriss, be sure to watch your mail! As soon as I can get to the Post Office, I'll send snow....Always willing to help a friend...I'm also sending some to Kathy, my smartie DD who keeps texting, asking me how's the weather????? I really gave my sewing room a cleaning and like Mar's room, wondering how long it will stay clean.....

Well, I better get moving....I need to do something, even if it's wrong.....

You all have a great day, prayers to those who are in need.....

Stay warm, stay safe......
Dorothy

Good morning!

Lois – happy back to work day. Hope you aren’t too tired when you get home.

Suzette – stay safe and warm in those frigid temps!

Teresa – good luck at the doctor’s today.

Dolores – your weather sounds crazy!

Velda – you’re really going to town on all those blocks. I agree with you about letting electronics warm up before using.

Izzy – brr! Hope DH made it in fine without any problems. Enjoy your last day off before returning to the salt mines.

Becca – prayers have been offered to your DH and you. Tooth extractions aren’t ever fun even under the best of circumstances

Judi – sure hope it doesn’t take Ken long to dig you guys out. Sorry you weren’t feeling well yesterday – I do think sewing is what is needed to get you on the mend. That’s too funny about being sold out of beer.

Chriss – I’m worn out from hearing about Mar’s room cleaning. Smart idea to put the stuff out of sight (and hopefully out of mind). I bet her room really looks cute now. Have fun grandma shopping.

CIndyg – good luck with the auditor – hope it all goes well. Those droughts stink – we have one nearly every year. The worst part is, the governor decides it’s better to release the farmers water to the city to keep the golf courses green. Pretty hard to live off of grass… Of course, last year the drought wasn’t brought up again after all the flooding. Glad your temps are going up.

Kathy – welcome home!! It’s so good to hear about how far Kim has come since that horrible accident. I hope she gets the PT and depression treatment. Enjoy all the treasures you brought home.

Jana – too bad DH needed the ‘puter back so soon! Hope he did leave you some extra $$.

Karlene – I bet it feels good to get that backlog behind you. As for Elizabeth, she could say she’s already in a relationship. Of course, with a fake ring, she probably wouldn’t even have to answer the question. I do like being tall, but like you, prefer a more maneuverable car.

Maryq – happy day off to you! I wish I had half your energy. Enjoy your sewing time.

Maryz – demanning – HA! Poor little guy – and poor Scottie too. How smart of you to do a massage.

Miriam – maybe Doyle could help with some quilt pattern choices – HA! Poor guy. Hope your warm up soon.

Dorothy – praying for Jim’s surgery. The hardest part for me is the waiting.

It only got down to 7 below, but our furnace was really struggling to keep up. We’ll be getting it replaced this summer – I just hope it lasts that long. Today we are meeting with the guy who will be putting in our pocket door. Outside, they’re almost done putting up the drywall, then comes taping and texturing. Stay warm, everyone! Xoxo Sharona
