SoozG, don't worry. I suspect your center will be just fine! Just square your center block to the same size of the width measurement on our May block (mine is 7 3/4, I think, have to check again.) Lots of the tops were together already as they went in on Monday to get hints. they are going to have 2 more sew top together sessions on Monday but you need to sign up. Wish I could go back but 300 miles is just too far to do again so soon! Irvine must be fairly close--ever thought of 'visiting' morning or evening Block Party??? Love to meet you. I go to even classes this year (saves one night in motel!) Now I wish I'd bought that black and neutral kit, gorgeous!

Re: Case of the Lost Quilt, 2014 Mystery
For those of you who didn't watch the evening class (in case El didn't mention it in the morning one)--there's a 2 1/2" light border around the center with all the stars (before El's second red border, both red borders are 1 1/2", green borders on the purple and green Zoey Christine fabric one)
Just in case you want to go ahead and finish your top. I may rip out May star points on quilt #1 and try again--mine is only 7 5/8" wide on 2 of them.....evils of using 2 machines, I think! last border before the stars border is 4 12" (I think, my notes are out in the studio.....) I may try to finish one of them up before class.....

Thanks Sally, will go over the post again and write it all down.
Izzy, my favorite is still the red center - both look good. All of my pieces are folded neatly in their box, waiting on me to finish teaching , then they will come out to play. Only two more classes, one tomorrow night and the last next week.
Sarah has my instructions as she is trying to catch up.

Izzy, I really like the mystery quilt. Very country, farmyard colors, and I adore the fussy cut centers on your outside blocks. How do you manage participating in so many things each month and work as hard as you do.......
Oh yeah, forgot you don't sleep, ever, from the look of it, lol. You are sure a go-getter, wish I had your energy.......
How's the longarm practice going?

Looks wonderful! I like the dark green border, seems to frame it beautifully.

Re: Case of the Lost Quilt, 2014 Mystery
thnx:)) I put the 2 and 1/2 border around the corner triangles wow what a difference that made. I ended up ordering more of that green not enough for second border and I do like the look of it. I put it between the black and the outer star strips looks good there too:) I cant wait to get this one done. I also ordered thread to quilt it with. I plan to quilt it with the green:) now to figure out how I want to quilt it LOL

Re: Case of the Lost Quilt, 2014 Mystery
That is the hardest part of quilting - trying to decide how to quilt it on the LA - when I hand quilt - that is easy, but oh the choices are endless with the machine!
The first quilt I put on my new LA here, I am in the process of ripping out all the stitching - did not like how it looked - so now we have a practice piece on the LA and are in a learning curve. Now if DH would get my storage room back where it belongs - not in my LA way, I could do more practicing! LOL In fact, he is being good and is in the storage room as I type, working on getting the shelves up! Whoo-hoo!!!
Isn't always the way - find the piece of fabric that goes perfectly and not have enough!
