Re: Christmas Eve 2013
Good Morning Girls
Merry Christmas Eve to all of you! It's a bright and sunny morning here, but a whopping 12 BELOW. YIKES! Guess I better really bundle up to go to work today!
Jules... hope the weather there settles down! Can you tell me a little more about "boxing day" I always thought it was when the bosses traded places with the "workers". I'd love to trade places with one of the bosses-tho I'd probably send every body home and close up the pharmacy!
Judi.... Isn't that the way.... all the preparation and excitement of Christmas and it's over... snap, just like that! At least it lasts a little longer for the kids, as they have Christmas Break to be home and play with all their new toys!
Chriss. WOWsers, that's a lot of food! Are you feeding a small army? Good grief about the shoes! I don't think all the idiots are in California tho.. just read the stories about people killing each other for some TV or electronic thing at Walmart on Black Friday!
Marzy... What joy to have so many folks at your house tonight! I can almost hear the laughter and fun you'll have!
Suzette... Hope you CAN squeeze in some "me time" today... will help renew the soul for the busy days ahead!
Kathy... I always have great intentions of at least leaving something for my mail carrier, but I just never seem to get around to it! Your dinner rolls sound nummy!
Tina... Sounds like you will be spending the day in the kitchen!! WE had a cookie exchange at work yesterday so fortunately I don't have to do any more baking!
Sherry... It is hard when your kids move so far away!! I'll have to set up my computer in the living room tomorrow so we can Skype with Jen in AK. Can't wait to see little Eli open presents! I do like your idea of charity giving tho... The older the DGKs get the harder it is time shop for them.. When they are old enough to understand "charity" I think that's what I will do--give to those in real NEED.
Tess.. MORE PIES! Do you make your crust from scratch... or cheat like I do and use Pillsbury pie crusts? They are pretty darn good!
Well, girls, I gotta run.. need to clean up a couple messes, wrap one more gift for under the tree and then get ready for work. Am hoping the day goes by quickly and they we don't have any glitches like we did yesterday. We'll be short a few people today so the rest of us will have to work double time!
In case I don't get back here tomorrow.........
My wish for all of you is a Christmas filled with love and laughter and All God's blessings on you and your families near and far. May your stockings be filled with fabric and thread and a little time to use it all!
Much Love To All Of You
Mary

Re: Christmas Eve 2013
Merry Christmas to all!! I have slept it the first but I sat and watched hulu until 1230 last night bad me:) It was me time I had to unwind didnt sit down until 830. with baking and uglies to complete.
Headed to my parents today for dinner at 330.
Our plans are all messed up since DH hurt back. We didnt make it to NH like we planned to do for yesterday. I will be taking them on Thursday when DD and DH are back to center and work.
Called DS up this morning to remind him to go to his Oma and PAPAs; I am a bit peeved at his "I am so busy" attitude so I need to vent. He only has one; My DIL family has now taken the front seat and we are in the trunk. When I called him the other day to check on his plans I got the list of places they were going for her family, then we didnt know what you all were doing. I replied with nice mommy and said you didnt ask. So I get him on Christmas day at 1; not sure for how long they will stay. Last year I got 30 min. It was awful maybe thats why I cant get in the Christmas mood. I guess its true once a daughter always a daughter; the son will never return. So sad. Sorry Im blubbering.
Well eggs are boiling so I need to get out of pan for tater salad for moms. I still have my mom and dad. I just pray my brother makes it in next week like he told them he would; he has marriage problems so not sure whats up but same situatition I have my mom has too. Must run in family LOL.
God bless and Happy thoughts(Im working on last part myself;))

Merry Christmas Eve my friends.
Boy, what a morning I have had.... anyway, I am sitting here at work, basically by myself. Don't know why I had to be here, but if it stays dead around here I am leaving at noon, with or without permission! LOL
I stayed up until 1 a.m. preparing for today since I had to work. Got my baking done and the food prepped so all I have to do is throw some macaroni on for mac-n-cheese and fry up the chicken titties!
Izzy, I am so sorry about your son. It do believe it is true about the daughter thing, though. (((Hugs)))
Jules, hope your weather clears up...stay safe!
Well, guess I am not here alone after all....someone is coming in. Guess I better look busy.
I hope you all have a wonderful day and a very special Christmas Eve, whatever your plans may be.
Love you all,
Mel

What's that saying
A son is son until he takes a wife...
a daughter is daughter for all of her life.
Sorry to hear you are so sad about your son's visit.

MERRY CHRISTMAS QIAD friends!!
Prayers out to you and yours for a safe holiday.
I have goodies to pass out to friends here in the RV park today. I don't bake much, DH doesn't need the extra pounds. I've made Beef Jerky. I sliced up a 6# Top Round roast, marinade for 8 hours and then smoke it on the Traeger smoker/grill. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to smoke a batch and 7-9 batches. One problem is that the friends come by and want samples off the grill, not knowing that I'm cooking this time for them.
I have a few E cards to send and did promise DH a Mincemeat Pie, then I'm done.
Our friends talked us into the Christmas dinner up at the club house tomorrow. I get off easy, they were short on rolls.
Have found a little 'ME' time and started piecing the orange peel quilt. Today is Beading, so will get some 'ME' time there, too.
God Bless and Remember the reason for the Season!

Merry Christmas to all my sweet and talented quilty friends! And for those of you who aren't sweet or talented I wish you a Merry Christmas, too. LOL I have pie #1 in the oven and have to make 2 more. Then I'll chop onion and celery for the dressing and I'll get the turkey out and get him washed, etc. I'll be up early in the morning getting the turkey on and the dressing made and the iced tea. Get out the plates and silverware, etc. This evening our church has three services: 5:00, 7:00 and 10:00 candlelight service w/communion. We are going to the 5:00 then to eat at Denny's with some friends. Alas, my sewing will have to wait until tomorrow night....after all the family has left here and we have had our nap. I have to make a label for my Christmas quilt before I forget.
I love you all and wish you a very blessed and happy Christmas!!!

Re: Christmas Eve 2013
Good morning my good friends!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Today is a semi quiet one - I have the prime rib sitting on the counter getting ready for the oven in a while. That is my part of dinner - cook the roasts and make the yorkshire puddings. The girls are doing the rest of the dinner. All of the family will be at Matt's new home for tonight. We gather and have dinner, then do Family Home Evening and read the Nativity from Luke - sometimes we dress the little ones as the shepards and the wise men, Mary and Joseph - we almost have enough for all the parts! After all of that we have Christmas Pie - it is a covered washtub that have small presents for each of the family - a toy or pj's for the little ones to play with until bedtime. This is a old family tradition from DH's family. I bought DS3 a Duck dynasty game that you attach to the TV and shoot ducks - that is my kind of shooting - doesn't harm the ducks!
My divinity ran out - so I need to make another batch this morning.
DS3 did finally arrive yesterday afternoon. It is so good to have him here for the next couple of weeks. He is trying to decide between getting a new puppy - a corgie - or a new gun - I think that the puppy will win out. It has another name in front of corgie - something blue - but it is adorable, that is for a dog! LOL I am a cat person!
Well need to get going - my day off is tomorrow - all the big doings are tonight - just a few presents tomorrow.
Enjoy the season!
Hugs
Jana
