Re: Wednesday November 27,2013
Good day, It has b even cold here in Pa. Too the last few days. I recovered from my cold, gosh I felt bad for couple days.
I worked on my quilt,it's turning into a super queen size,I found some more fabric on internet to add more borders. It started out as a left over scrap quilt. I sewed for a weekend, cutting and planning. This will be my first queen. I can't believe how sore my upper arms are from sewing. Gosh, every time I do something I always hurt somewhere.
The days I have stopped by I really enjoy reading the daily write ins. I feel as I'm getting to know everyone. The quilts are awesome in pictures.
Have a great week your families.Debbie

Lois - I hate to hear that your foot isn't feeling well. Maybe you can wait a while before you bake those pies.
Sue - you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving. Y'all be very careful. Best of luck to Gage.
Suz - gosh, I hope your plan of a baby quilt is a quick one. Dec. 12 isn't very far away. We see a lot of craziness here as far as drivers go - nothing surprises me anymore.
Dolores - sorry you cut wrong. I hope you have enough fabric to make it right. I made a bag but it's a Christmas bag and I'm having all the ladies in the family put their name in a hat and we're having a drawing for it. My name is going into that hat but my sister's isn't because I already made her a Christmas tote. If I don't win the tote then I'd like to make one for myself. I also thought about making one for a drawing at my company Christmas party. It'd be a nice thing for one of the wives to win and it would put some excitement into the party. Lord knows it needs it. I'm the most exciting thing there so that should tell you about the life that party has - ROFLOL!!!! It's actually a very nice thing - a quiet dinner at a hoity-toidy restaurant. I'm rambling, aren't I?
Tess - I hate to tell you this but you don't have enough time to get all that done today. Good grief - it would take me 3 days just to clean my house. We had some tiny snow flurries here yesterday. Hard to believe. Usually we are still running around in shorts at TG.
Grammie - lucky you going somewhere for dinner tomorrow. You did bake pies though so you didn't get off scott free. I think I'd faint if one of my girls said, "Mom, TG dinner is at my house and you don't need to bring anything but yourselves." How I would love that! Somebody wake me up - I'm dreaming.
Izzy - you sure are a good goat nurse. We never have devilled eggs at TG but I know that lots of people do. I could eat devilled eggs with anything. We'd have them if I'd make them but I'm not starting that little tradition - if I make them once I'd be making them every year and I'm trying my very best to get out of cooking altogether. So.....we won't be having devilled eggs.
Maryq - glad you have the weekend off.
Maryz - are you saying your Scotty is a juvenile delinquent? LOL Oh, I love that dog already.
Chriss - so dump your canned gravy in a bowl and granny probably won't know the difference.
Sharona - today you will cook, bake, clean, etc. I've decided that coming to work is easier than being at home. LOL
Debbie - I hurt almost all over WITHOUT doing anything! Good luck with your first queen size. The first quilt I made was a king size and I quilted it on my domestic machine......and said "never again". LOL That was an awful lot of quilt to push thru that little neck on that sewing machine. It's a wonder I ever made another quilt.
I'm at work blah blah blah. Tonight I'll make 3 pies and I have to chop onions and celery for the dressing. Made the cornbread last night. Need to gather other things to take to my sister's tomorrow so we don't forget anything. My DD is coming to dinner tomorrow but it will just be her as her 4 kids have this TG with their dad. Things will be a great deal quieter - LOL. My other DD has to work so she's staying in Austin. So tomorrow evening I have to pack up to go to Vicki's early Friday morning to quilt - YIPPEE. I've needed to do that for ages but we just haven't been able to coordinate it since Ed passed away. Vicki is so busy chasing her tail and when she was free, I wasn't. And then the quilt show was in there, too, as well as the Nutcracker Market. Anyway, finally she and I will have quiet quilting time together.
May we all get to fondle fabric today.
If I don't get back here y'all have a blessed and joyful Thanksgiving. What would it be like if you woke up tomorrow with only the things that you thanked God for today?

MaryZ - my step daughter is having a girl. I thought I had mentioned it a while back. I finally got news on Wyatt also. His tumor has shrunk and he is back in school on the honor roll. And I have more baby news, my nephew is getting married the first weekend in December. They are having a baby in April. They already know it is a boy. How? I don't know. It seems awful early to know the sex.

Very behind and trying to catch up.
Suzette - Please go to this web site and gift a mattress cover to the babies. http://babymattresscovers.com/'>http:// ... overs.com/
Sewing group today. I received the accessory kits for the Santas and need to split them up. Someone asked about the pattern. It's the 'Button Santa' from Happy Hollow Designs. A table runner with 5 Santa heads. A friend & I didn't want a runner, so we split it up and made wall hangings. I made 3, her 2. I will also cut up the fusible grid and some fabric. How much would you charge for a 2 inch sq. of fabric? It is silly for people to buy a bunch of fats when all you need is 60 2" sq., some reds, white and browns or gold. So Velda & I were going to offer use of our stash.

Good morning all! Sounds like everyone will be very busy tomorrow with lots of good eats. It will just be DH and I since our boys live so far away. Our parents are gone and we don't have a very big family. Actually it is kind of nice because I have been to some family dinners where the "crazy uncle" starts an argument. It is not a pretty sight. Our dinner is different than most of what you are having. We eat turkey breast year round so we are having spiral ham, potato salad, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and my mother's recipe for homemade yeast rolls. If I didn't make the rolls I would probably be thrown out. I have to admit my mom's recipe is really great.
Lois - Hope you feel better soon.
Maryz - Cutting down your own real tree sounds like a lot of fun. Do you do it every year?
Izzy - You have been cooking for an army it sounds like. I bet it is all great.
Dolores - I feel for you. I have cut a pattern wrong more than once. I never seem to learn "measure twice cut once".
Well, better go get some lunch. I have to get the potato salad going soon. It tastes so much better if it sits for a day. I was kind of disappointed when I heard they may not be able to fly the balloons tomorrow in the Macy's Parade. That parade and the Rose Bowl Parade are my favorites. Hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Hello to all of you. It is NOON here. I could not get my computer to go to the forum this morning. I thought maybe the web site was down for some reason, but it must have been my lap top. Oh well, I put it aside and this was the first chance I had to get on here.
Sewing Group today. I plan to take my fabric selection for our Santas and my batting and backing for my table runners.
Hopefully, I will get the backing and batting cut down to the right size for the runners. That will be a big help. At least at the Club House, we have big tables to work on for that.
I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving Day. Enjoy your families.
Hope you get to sew a little, too.
Hugs

Re: Wednesday November 27,2013
Good early afternoon from snowy, cold, Sw. Pa...Hopefully the snow that has been in the forecast will change it's mind....I just think of all those people out there traveling, including a bunch of mine....Our #2 son and his wife are flying to Texas to see their daughter and Kathy's 2 girls are coming from the east so we pray everyone gets where they're going, safely.....
Today has been a hectic day already...Jim had a very early dermatologist appointment and came home looking like he had been in a fight and lost...He more or less expects this, every time he goes...He does have one spot on his wrist that the doc is concerned about and it's probably cancer...And then this afternoon, he's going to see our family doc...He's starting to have problems with his memory and we both know, he's no youngster any more, but it's really worrying me....
Mary, I already have visions of Scottie and your tree, (if you know what I mean)...We've not had a puppy but have had many a tree laying horizontal on the living room floor, compliments of our furbabies....I second the suggestion about the gravy from KFC...We love it and it sure beats my hit or miss....And I've found, the packets of beef gravy mix at Aldi's is the best....When I have company, I just make sure I hide the evidence and they ooh and ahh and tell me what a good cook I am, lol......
Chriss, I've been racking my brain to come up with something to bribe Jerry but really can't beat the pecan pie...It sounds like you're very lucky to be you..But then we think Jerry is very lucky also.....And I also like the advice you gave Mel...I'm going to have to keep that in mind for future use......
Izzy, you are indeed an inspiration...All that you accomplish and still able to remain sane, you are special....I keep thinking of you sitting with a baby in your lap, helping it nurse, bless your heart...
I have to tell you a funny about our dear and I mean dear Cindy, Kevin's wife....She is an only child and had not been allowed in the kitchen...That 1st year, she wanted to make a turkey dinner...I, in my nice, MIL voice, said, "you being left handed, you might have a hard time finding a left handed turkey, the stores don't get too many in"....The innocent look on her face was priceless...This girl has turned into a top notch cook and is not afraid to tackle anything...She's more than a DIL, she's special.....
Well, I think I best get some baking done...The beds are all changed, ready for whoever might show up...I need to make pies and maybe that éclair pudding dessert...Then the trick will be to keep Jim from cutting into these desserts until tomorrow's dinner...No matter where I hide, he'll sniff it out.....
You all have a great rest of the day and a very, very
Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving................

Irishgram ROFLOL left handed turkey that is too funny. First turkey I cooked I didnt know the head from but I checked one hole and no giblets so I thought man I was jipped. Well cooked that lil guy right up and couldnt figure out why one end was browner than other. YUP you guessed it giblet bag in that end LOL. My DH just laughed and said now they are cooked and ready to put in the gravy.
Gravy--I come from a german household where mom always had brown gravy made from meat drippings so yummy. Well My DH family made giblet gravey--you know boil everything in bag add onion celery pepper and salt and hard boiled egg and some corn starch and whala you got gravey. Some chunky stuff but I must say over 27 years I do love it:)
Well pies are made. 4 completed and working on my rolls. Just pulled tom out of fridge and still frozen oh my so he is in sink right now. Not good he has been in fridge for 3 days.
Miracle is nursing on Peanut standing up now so sweet to see. I just corner peanut and put Miracle by milk sack and away she goes LOL. She nursed and took 4 oz bottle at noon. I also rearranged barn and moved my two girls not with babies out of that field in with my lil girls. moved all boys into boy pen except for Jack he is too fast for this old gal. DH gonna help corral him tonight. Now lower barn will be closed up and more room for mommas and babies to move around. Poor peanut and lady had least amount of room now they have a duplex LOL
Velda, Nope forum was having trouble I couldnt get on for a while too.
once roll dough is made I am headed to sew for a bit. shew. I have also made laundry detergent done some uglies and cleaned kitchen up from baking mess. Fed the DD and DFD lunch and made pot of coffee to which I am headed now.
God bless house smells yummy

**We use to tie our tree to curtain rod with fishing line due to our furbabies climping it and knocking it down:)) It works but they still got the ornaments off:);

Re: Wednesday November 27,2013
What a busy morning! I did a little more decorating, Scottie and I did our two miles, I made my pumpkin cheesecake, then my DB and SIL came by and we all ended up going to lunch. Now I'm home and have baking mess to clean, more baking to do, a little more decorating to do. I haven't even showered yet!
SHERRY - yes, we have always cut our own tree. Usually in the Olympic National Forest but sometimes we go to tree farms.
SHARONA - yes, I'm curious to see what happens with this tree and The Scot. He is the most mischievious dog I've ever had but he's so cute! But we'll have to watch him, and my parents' antique ornaments are NOT going on the tree this year!
DEBBIE - I, too, get sore places if I sew a lot. I've learned to get up often, switch feet, and stretch my shoulders. I shouldn't sew for such long periods, but I can't help it. Quilting is the monkey on my back!
CINDY - as to Scotty being a juvenile delinquent - you have him pegged! This last week he seems to have entered a new stage of trouble. Sigh. I keep asking Bill why it was that we got a puppy? Neither of us can remember! Give Vicki a hug for me when you see her. and have fun at Diane's tomorrow. How far away does she live?
SUZ - you probably did mention the baby was a girl. But I was gone for a week in Oct and 2 weeks last Aug an had so much company in Sept I missed a lot. Plus - I forget stuff! and now a wedding and another baby! And wonderful news about Wyatt. They are doing a lot of research here for treatment of ca, especially brain tumors. and having good results.
LYN - What a good idea to divide up your supplies - and so nice of you to share, too. I tried to go see your pattern, but the website was "unavailable" and I'm to try later. Hope I remember. I forget stuff. Oh wait, I forgot, I already said that.
BECCA - my cheesecake is done and cooling. Thanks for your recipe! Can't wait to taste it!
VELDA - happy sewing at the big tables!
IRISH - prayers for your family on the road for the holiday. I think of you every time I see the national weather report because it seems everything is always happening in PA! As for Scottie and trees, we have carefully not encouraged any leg lifting. He's a very discreet little guy when he wee-wees. (but he makes a big dramatic production out of boom-booms! lol!) Hopefully the tree will be safe. If it's not, I'm sure you'll be among the first to know!
IZZY - so happy Peanut and and Miracle are taking to each other. It's a miracle!!
Well, I think I'm off to take a nap. DH got us a Take and Bake pizza last night and I had some bad heartburn/reflux from it and was up 2 hours last night. I have some making up to do with my sleep!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
