SUPPER CLUB - Thurs, Nov 14

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Nov 14, 2013 4:12 am

Today is my DDIL's birthday. She's 38. I always make her a peanut butter cake, but I don't think we're getting to see her this year until TG. She had some serious dental surgery a few days ago and isn't up to partying much. But I did send her a card, her birthday check, and a little pattern for wool applique Christmas ornaments.

IRISH - sounds like you had way too much fun yesterday! But how nice that you still cooked Jim supper!

JANA - we grew up on fried potatoes leftover from the night before's boiled potatoes. Still one of my faves!

BECCA - that cranberry salad sounds good. Is it really a salad or is it homemade cranberry relish?

LYN - beef barley soup. Mmmmmmmmm..... What a good warmer-upper!

We still have some of that Mexican casserole left. If DH can take a third day of it - then that's what he'll get. Otherwise, I think I'll make meatballs in a mushroom sauce over whole wheat egg noodles. and a salad.

What's going on the table at YOUR house tonite?

Beef Barley Soup will be today. DH decided he wanted a large salad last evening.

Guess we will go to Corpus Christi today and buy tires for the Jeep. I will take the opportunity and stop at JoAnn's to get some grid stuff we will need for the Santa's the sewing/quilting group will be making.

Hello everyone.Sunny & cold here.Got all my errands finished.

MARYz It is cranberry relish to some.It has strawberry jello, ground cranberries, nuts, pineapple, chopped apples,& stalk of celery ground or chop. One of my favs.

LYN Your sewing group sounds like fun.Know that soup will hit the spot.Hope to make some tomorrow.

JANA Potatos are great so many ways.My Mom used to make potato cakes. And she also made Irish potato cake which had cooked potatos in it.It was chocolate with chocolate icing.

With it being errand day I picked up Subway.Lets me off the hook...Becca

Good afternoon from sunny but still cold, SW. Pa....

Mary, hope your DDIL has a super day in spite of the surgery...Also hope she has a speedy recovery....Personally, I don't think there is anything worse than having dental surgery...I'd rather have that "nasty" test....

Jana, we also grew up with fried left over potatoes and I love them...I always cook extra just to have the left overs....

Lyn, your soup sounds delish..My soups are always hit or miss, I just haven't mastered that art.....

Jim has already told me, he wants the leftover spaghetti for dinner....Sure makes my afternoon a lot easier....I just might have to mix up some cinnamon rolls......

Happy eating.............

Good Evening All.......aaaahhhhh......it is so cold today.....proper brass monkey weather......

yesterday was one of those days....so...so busy.....but achieving nothing......by the time I fell into bed absolutely shattered.....I could not have told anyone just what had been done.....and it didn't look any different either!!!!!!

Back is a lot better......well....am now down to the bottom stair....and the "frozen" pack of peas are heading to the freezer ready for the next time.......which....I hope will be a long....long time arriving at this abode......
Been making full use of my slow cookers.....yes....have bought my 3rd....this one is 3.5 litres.....actually....this is a better size for "every" day.....the little one is just right for Rice Puddings.....and the big one is useful to freeze the meals.....

So....todays menu....Pork Loin (diced) in White Wine and Cream Sauce with carrots peas sweetcorn and mushrooms.....and a large slice of Chocolate Cake I made yesterday for afters......
