Re: Thurs November 14, 2013
Good Morning!
JUDI - You always find a good mix of uglies with a little sewing to soften the chores. Do you bind your quilts by machine? As fast as you are churning them out, I would think your fingers would have permanent holes poked in them if you did them all by hand!
VELDA - I'm looking forward to seeing your photos! Lucky you! Sounds like Willie is throwing his northern winter coat. Snickers always shed heavily when we hit warmer weather. I expect Scottie will, too. Bill says we need to get black carpets! I haven't had a black dog in 35 yrs. What was I thinking??
BECCA - you finished all your doll clothes! How many dolls were you sewing for? Can you share photos?
VICKY - I think a mile is a very diligent beginning when you haven't been walking for a long time. Sounds like you were making gentle memories over at Tia's yesterday.
CHRISS - glad you're going to get to sew this weekend. The first thing you need to make is a DO NOT DISTURB sign for your sewing room door! No, my stove is up against the wall. Nothing is behind it. My son-in-law, Lee, had that sinus surgery. It wasn't a fun operation, but it certainly helped him. He used to have terrible allergies and now they rarely bother him. Tell Cindy.
KATHY - oh, your poor DD! How did your DGD do? Hope all are OK by the time you get there.
CINDY - so sorry about the coffee carafe. I worked for Weyerhaeuser before I went to nursing school and none of their offices ever had coffee machines. You can get through this crisis! As to allergies, I am the opposite of you - I start going into shock if I'm in a room WITHOUT a cat! I feel so deprived that I only have one cat now.
KARLENE - I've done the mouse thing, too. Embarrassing to do while the two cats watched! (I had two then). Yes, only 40 more sewing days until Christmas! But! Only 37 days until they start getting longer!
TINA - glad to see you! You've been busy. Too busy, it sounds like. I bet Easton has already grown by leaps and bounds!
I did start a new quilt for my other friend, Marilyn. It's a pattern from McCall's S/O, 2013 issue, called Anvil Chorus. In Civil War fabrics. Several years ago, I made this friend six 6" UGRR blocks, sashed them and framed them, and wrote the history and meaning of the blocks on the back of the frame. I think her forebears were slaves as she broke down and cried. She hung that frame over her couch. This quilt matches the theme of the other gift, even some of the same fabrics. And it can go on the sofa beneath the framed blocks. I got it all cut out and the the blocks 1/3 finished. And I can sew most of the day today, so should make good progress.
Hope everyone gets a whiff of cotton today!

Re: Thurs November 14, 2013
Good morning! We would be frosty here, but the wind is blowing. It’s sunny, and we will get to the 50s today. This is the annual grandparents’ day/senior citizens’ day lunch at the grade school. Since we still have our grandson there, we can go as grandparents and not senior citizens.
I got to sew yesterday after getting some pecans, and I finished the top of a table runner for one of my sisters. I used the quilt pattern “Tiny Baubles” from Quiltmaker and modified it for a runner. I think I’m pleased with it. We also cracked and picked out almost 5 quarts of pecans.
Scrappy Pat—so good to hear you shouldn’t need radiation!
Judi—We don’t use wood, but we still cut and stack when cleaning up areas and the windfall trees. We need to find someone who can use it. Best wishes to your friends through their BC journeys.
Velda—sounds like you are getting back in the Winter Texas groove of activities and sewing. What a fun SS you have!
Becca—20 degrees! Brrr! Isn’t the weather crazy; we should be 60 Saturday as well. This latest freeze got the rest of my flowers that had missed the others. Most all of the leaves are off the trees except the oaks that fall when the new leaves push the old ones off.
Vicky—good luck with your walking. Do you do it on a dreadmill? I need to get with my yoga program again now that it’s getting cold. I think I got exercise yesterday and day before with the rake under the pecan trees. So good to hear you got baby time yesterday. Did you get a picture of Jovanna dancing with her grandpa?
Chriss—I have a window behind my stove this time. My sister has a tile “picture” behind hers. The grout needs to be sealed well, and you are limited in your redecorating unless you take it out. I used to get a piece of Plexiglas cut to fit the area behind my stove and screw it to the wall. You could also put a design (or a quilted wall hanging) behind it—to change it, just unscrew. The wall hanging would be protected.
Kathy—I like the look of glass tile, too. I’ve thought about corrugated tin in my rustic kitchen between the cabinets and counters.
Cindy—you need to send out for Starbucks in the meantime… A morning without coffee is like… well a morning without coffee.
Karlene—good luck with the mice this time of year. I’m starting to panic on my Christmas sewing.
Tina—sounds like you had a fun time with Easton and your great niece. Sorry you missed Jazmyne. That’s happened to me when the kids had activities and I had to leave before they got home.
MaryZ—another perfect gift for a good friend. You get so many things completed. I am so waiting for the longer days—it’s what gets me through the gray days January and February; thankful, too, that February is a shorter month. I know people who have had successful sinus surgery, and it is sure tempting…
The wind is really blowing here. I need to go fill up the sunflower seed feeders. Hope you all have a super day!

Boy am I late getting on here
Yesterday I went for an eye exam as part of the drug study. Tomorrow I have a check with the surgeon and an MRI also as part of the drug study. My eyes have not changed at all according to the eye dr. That is good. I have not made it into my studio at all this week. Hopefully tomorrow so I can layer my secret santa gift and maybe even quilt it. Well, I better get back to work. Have a wonderful day.

Good morning!
Another day I can't stay and chat. Today I am going to get my hairs cut and colored. The map thingie tells me it will me nearly an hour and a half to get there. I may be looking for someone a little closer next year.
I actually got to touch fabric yesterday and it was wonderful! I cut out fabric for my SS gift.
Have a great day, all. Prayers and hugs where needed. xoxo Sharona

Chriss - The flood mess is cleaned up, 4 feet of drywall removed, savable stuff in plastic totes put back in the garage. My sewing stuff is upstairs until my sewing room is reconstructed next spring or whenever.
Using the big tables in the club house is great and I will do it more, even on non sew group days. I got 4 different fabrics ironed and cut 96 5 1/2" squares for each color. It's all for an Orange Peel Quilt I saw on Sewing with Nancy.
Guess we will go to Corpus Christi today and buy tires for the Jeep. I will take the opportunity and stop at JoAnn's to get some grid stuff we will need for the Santa's the sewing/quilting group will be making.

Ok went to church last night and then it hit me: Did I turn off the water at goat barn LOL I forgot to check it when we got home so woke up at 3 this morning again thinking: Did I turn off water? well asked DH to check this morning before he left. Now just called him and he forgot OMG!!!! Well now if still on that is almost 24 hrs running LOL we have 2 men hunting on farm this morning so he is calling one to go check LOL Yeah I am dieing here until I know its off. LOL
One more day DFD going on respite this weekend. I do need a break oh my. Wed is youth night and it takes her 2 hours after getting home to come down from all the interactions. Shew she can wear you out. Her mind runs non stop worrying about every day from here to who knows when. LOL I tell her I am lucky to know what I am doing 10 min from now let alone next month LOL
Keep my coworker Alaena in prayer her DH found out yesterday his mom went in to get results from breast biopsy. They knew she had stage 1 cancer but when she got there they told her it had matastisized to bone and lymph nodes and she is stage 4. So sad he is only child and parents divorced when he was young. They are headed to Misourri where she flew into yesterday near her sister and parents for treatment.
Caroline I have forwarded your Etsy page to all my friends. I hope sales pick up:))
Well better get back to work. I plan to sew tonight some
God Bless and happy thoughts

Good afternoon from sunny but cold, SW. Pa....BUT, we're going to be warming up for the weekend......
Jim has gone to help with the elderly bingo and the furbabies are sleeping..I love when the house is so quiet....
We spent the morning at the bank with our advisor..He's trying to help me convince Jim we need that house in Florida, lol....I did tell him, if he does his job, there will be a house key in it for him....We then went to Aldi's...Had a list of 4 things and came out with 3 bags full plus the 4 things...
It's taken me a couple of days getting over our card party but it was a huge success..My table alone brought in over $500.00...When you're able to send a couple blind youngsters to camp for a week or so, you forget about all the work that went into these fund raisers....
You all know how Jim and I love our cats and it seems the word is really getting around....In the past 2 weeks, another stray has kind of adopted us and has joined the group at the buffet...Sadly, this new one came "home" yesterday and either has a badly bruised/swollen front leg or it might even be broken...We're trying to keep him on the front porch until we can have someone look at it...And yesterday, I had a call from a gal asking if I'd take another one or knew of anyone that would.....The more she talked the more I wanted too but kept thinking, I might be outside looking in if I take any more.....Oh why do people just throw these furbabies out in the cold?????Breaks my heart!
Here I've gone on and on and not "talked" to any of you.....But, I do love to read all about the quilts, babies, colors of rooms, pecans and just everything going on in everyone's lives.....
And now, I better get my buns in gear and get something done....I haven't been home at all in the past 3 days so now I have uglies to catch up on.....
You all have a great day..................

It is a nice afternoon for a drive.. Headed to the napa wine country for a much needed mini vacation with hubby. No sewing for me this trip, left my machine home. Brought some hand work, a book and a cozy quilt to snuggle under while hubby is golfing. Daughter and grandson staying at the house while we are gone. They are moving this weekend too so when we get back, they will actually live 6 blocks from us, love that!! Hope everyone has a good afternoon... Happy stitching!! Debi

Hello,
I put in a morning in trying to make many arrangements to get my medical records here...crazy. Then I sewed the afternoon away. Sara's quilt is finished, washed & dried. I started a topper for the nurse that cares for Kim's wounds. This is the 2ed one I made & the sides were 1/2" too big. So on the next one I need to be very careful. Now it time for dinner. I think it's chicken & butternut casserole.
Later............Kathy
