SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Nov 8th
Another windy day here! Though I think it will calm down later.
JANA - we did take the arborist's report to the city. In fact, the city's arborist came and looked at it in addition to the one we paid. And yes, we can (and have) cut a few limbs that hang over our property, but we'll have to bring in a cherry picker to get any more. But they are a drop in the bucket. This tree is probably 150 years old and it would take 3 men spanning arms to be able to encircle the trunk. And it is leaning towards our house. It is HUGE! And there really is no where else to sleep in our house. We just have our bed. Our trailer is so close to the house that it would be even less protection. I had a thought to call our local news station Problem Solvers folks. Those people get results! The owner doesn't live next door- it's a rental. The owner can only be reached by a P.O. box address. A giant limb (15" across the butt end) came down on us in an ice storm some years ago. Destroyed that part of our yard and took off some roof shingles. the guy never even asked if we were OK. Ignored it completely. We did all the clean up ourselves. and let's not even talk leaves! That's a whole 'nother issue! Oh, and did I mention that this tree has a twin? It's 6 feet behind it, also dying, and also leaning towards us.
IRISH - I do put ham in my split pea soup if I have it. Usually I have kielbasa on hand. I also like diced carrots and some potatoes and onions as well. And a bit of chix bullion with the water for a little extra flavor. and parsley. I think that's it.
Ok, enough about that. But if I'm not here for a few days, someone call 9-1-1.
I think tonite we deserve new food! Ole'!! Tacos it is! DH loves tacos. An so easy. I'm all about easy. Leaves more sewing time!
What's supper at your house?

Mary - I've missed out on some of the tree report. But, from reading the above post, I would call the news station. I KNOW all about those trees leaning toward the house. Like the dead one we had in the back yard that DH said would stand forever. It was dead when I met DH in 2000 and I tried over the years to get him to agree it needed cutting. Well, 2 years ago it came down in a midnight wind storm the day before we were to come to Texas. Some damage to the house, but it could have been a lot worse.
I'm going to get DSIL's Ruler Cutter mailed/UPS out today. Have to go to Rockport, no UPS store here in Aransas Pass. So, that will give me a chance to stop at the quilt shop. I want to get some fabric for a project for my Secret Santa person. I'm way behind on getting stuff ready. Velda has a box full of goodies for her person.
Yesterday was cool, so I made Beef Barley Soup. Never made it before, but it's very good. We will have leftovers for dinner.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Nov 8th
Good morning!
Mary - Thanks for the report - we had 5 trees in the backyard at the Concord house that were around 60 feet tall each - alive and growing well - well the soil got too wet and a ill-wind blew through and those 5 all fell - just missed our house, but took out two sheds, fence and the neighbor's tree house - what a mess - just before we moved here. My perimeter of the yard in Concord had these trees - probably about 15 of them at one time.
Dinner - last night I did stuffed baked potatoes with leftovers from the refrig - DH didn't want to go out in the dark for chicken - will push the issue today - I need chicken! I am chicken deficient!! LOL
Tacos are a go to dinner here too - DH's favorite as well!
Enjoy

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Nov 8th
Good early afternoon from partly sunny, very chilly, SW. Pa...It's not too bad when the sun is out but darn right cold if Mr. Sun hides....Tomorrow is to be a little warmer, I hope.....
Mary, I agree with calling the news people...They do a lot of good around here...And most of the time, if someone is having a problem, all they have to do is mention calling the news and darn if that problem isn't cleared up, real quick....I'm going to have to try that soup, Jim might surprise me and like it....
This afternoon we are making a funeral home visit...One of Jim's best friends from HS passed away..We hadn't seen him for about a month and his passing really surprised us and hit Jim pretty hard...He and Jim were like brothers, we both married the same year and our 1st babies were born a day apart....
So for our dinner, we might stop somewhere on the way back home...If not, there is always left overs from last night (if Jim hasn't eaten all for lunch)........
Happy eating...............
