Good early morning.
Woke up and can't get back to sleep. So here I am. Today after doing a couple of uglies I am heading out to my studio and get to work on a couple more breast cancer blocks and my nephew's wedding quilt. This will be the second Braid in a Day quilt I have made. For the moment it has stopped raining. Yesterday was nothing but rain. It would stop and then next minute it would be pouring. I will check back later. Have a wonderful day.

Last night I actually slept. I didn't even get up until 6:50! Felt nice and I'm grateful as I have been having a lot of problems sleeping.

Last nights dinner was great! I made mac and cheese and meatloaf. Everybody loved it! Then we have a sheet cheese cake (out of a box)
The visiting was nice and little Timmy was the center of attention, well maybe Jovanna was the center of attention that girl is just so entertaining. Timothy slept most of the time (normal newborn) and is Aunt Shannon is smitten :-)

We have a bit of clean up to do as we have church here tomorrow and I'm going to make two apple pies and some cranberry sauce. One of the ladies is bringing a 22 pound turkey! So I called some others and we will be having mashed potatoes, butternut squash and green beans, and pumpkin pies all produce of our gardens, which is really neat!

Shannon and Scot slept in their new house last night. The seem so happy. We heard a lot about the beef cows they will be getting and running chickens. I think it so nice they are living their dream.

I hope everyone has a great weekend,
Keep looking up!
Vicky

Good Morning Ladies....

Cool, sunny & uglies day here. I want to rust through those uglies so I can quilt....I'm on a roll with my SonIL's quilt. I even quilted on the porch it was so nice out.

Suzette....sorry you can't get back to sleep. Since I've moved here I have trouble going to sleep. I think it's because I don't work as hard as I did at work. I do want that Braid in a Day pattern. I love it.

Lois....No sleep for you ether? I remember that boot being cumbersome when trying to sleep.

Vicky....I'm happy for you. There's nothing like a good night sleep.
I'm so happy you had a wonderful time with you family. It's the week end & I'll be Skyping with my DGC. Nothing feels better than seeing our children happy & doing well.

Time to dress & start the day.

Love & Prayers for all.................Kathy

Here are my replies from Friday posts: I didn’t get back on the computer yesterday.

Maryz: Yes, the weight that the truck is pulling is our main objective. We have a one ton Ford F350 V10. It did very very with pulling so far, but the empty weight is higher on this new RV and we are just trying to keep track of what we add in here or try to take out some items we do not need to travel with -out. The nice thing is we have a small storage shed that stays here in Shebyville and some things get stored at our son’s house over the winter. That’s why I am so into “not getting lots of extra fabric on hand” I keep trying to make projects to creatively use up my scraps. It’s part of the whole FUN of quilting and sewing. :)

Cindyg: When you mention White Bass, you must be thinking about “Strippers” which are hybrids and they are HUGE. The yellow bass or regular white bass that we catch are anywhere from 3 inches to 15-16 inches. They are really a lot of fun on the ultra light (we are now using 6lb rather than 4lb test line). The white bass strike really fast and hard. Sometimes they hook them selves, but other times they can be really tricky to hook. The crappie is another story. If your hook set is too hard, you rip right through their paper thin mouth. I think yesterday, that was what I had trouble with, crappie would hit and I would hook set like a bass and then miss them. Tricky!! Cute T-shirt logo!! I love that!

Vicky: Sounds like participating in the Sylvia Blocks is great therapy for you. It gets you away from some of your other stresses. Quilting is good for calming our nerves and senses.

Teresa: So funny about the date. Did you also notice that you did the same thing on Sept. 10??? We must all be confused with you, because none of us even paid any attention to it, until Carol mentioned it. LOL

My Saturday comments:

Yesterday was a great day. Had more fun fishing. Then came back home about noon. DH took me to DQ for the $5 buck lunch. Then we did errands, launrdry, and chores around the home. I got all my cleaning done, and DH mowed the grass. Willy got his toe nails groomed and got his flea treatment on time. We went fishing in the late afternoon until dark. That was not so much fun for me, but DH had a great night and was quite lucky with his catches.

Today is the big festival here and they are having Hot Air Balloons. They are so beautiful to watch. I do not know if the weather will hold out so they can do their event. Last year they had to cancel it because it got so cold and the balloons could not fly. This year we have rain coming in and I’m not sure it they will be able to do it???? That sport relies on the weather so much.

There is a thing going on in the park with booths and stuff for kids to do. Don’t know if we will go this year. If they had more craft booths, etc, that might interest me, but we don’t have little kids, so I really don’t think we will go this year
You all have a great weekend and keep smiling.
Hugs and prayers for all.
Velda

Good rainy morning!

SUZ - so sorry you can't sleep. I hate when that happens. If it goes on for more than an hour I take two IBU with a cup of Bedtime Tea and read until I get drowsy. Usually 20 minutes. It works for me ALMOST every time. Have fun 'braiding'! I have the pattern - a gift from a good friend - and that is on my to-do list.

LOIS - you, too?? It must be difficult to get comfy with that boot. I hope you can get it off soon - at least at night. What kind of cake are you baking? I might have to stop by . . .

VICKY - sounds like a fun family evening! So happy Shannon's life dream is coming true.

KATHY - I'm sorry but I've forgotten - what is your SIL's quilt like? and how is Kim doing? Will you be going to Texas for any of the holidays? We plan to go to AZ after New Year's and we MIGHT do a fast scoot down to Austin to see Autumn. Be fun if you were there, too!

VELDA - We've been RV'g for 23 years and we're still doing that what-to-take, what-to-jetison dance. I go through everything in our 5W at least once a year, purge/add/rearrange. It's kind of fun though. You sure know a lot about fishing! I can tell a trout from a goldfish. that's about it. I remember my dad fishing in the Narrows here for black bass when I was a kid. Spikey things about 12"-16" long. He would put them into a gunny sack and the spikes would poke through and 'get' us little girls.

Our friends arrived yesterday from Colorado. They say their plan is to stay 2 weeks and to 'hang with us' every minute. They have a 20# poodle and she and Scottie are getting along pretty well. The poodle, "Suzee", is playful, but very destructive we quickly learned. We are trying to keep Scottie's things locked in his playpen - and his food hidden. Three of his rawhides are already gone. We are happy to share, but not to allow Scottie's toybox to be decimated.

Tonite, I'm making a pot of chili and cornbread. If I could find whoever invented the crockpot, I would kiss his feet!!

Hope everyone gets to at least sniff the cotton today!

Hi y'all! This will just be a quick note to let you all know that I'm ok. This afternoon we are going to a family gathering at Earl's nephew's house...it is a cookout and the weather today is just perfect! Our contribution will be mac and cheese and banana bars (Irishgram's recipe!).

I'm sewing on the binding on a bed quilt for us...my RA won't let me do any hand sewing, so I've learned to do it by machine. The trick seems to be LOTS of pins and GO SLOW. Then I have tablerunners to make for Christmas...slow and steady wins the race! lol!

Hope you all have a great day!

Good Morning Girls

Another gorgeous fall day in MN, but man is it chilly! We had rain last night, but it's all cleared off and it's going to be a perfect day for working out side. As soon as I have a few more cups off coffee I'm headed into town for gas for the mower, then I'll be back to mow and trim those shrubs that I have been procrastinating about for weeks. I don't think we'll have too many more days like this, so I better take advantage of them. If I get all the outside stuff done today, tomorrow will be inside ugly day, as I need to clean up before Jen comes home. Hoping to light a fire under room mate so she'll clean up her messes too. If she gets out of bed before noon!

Maryz.... you need to get a sign for your house
"Mary & Bill's B & B" With all the company you're having! Will you be able to sneak in some sewing time with all your guests?

Suzette.... gosh that stinks when you can't sleep. I rarely have that problem, but when I do, it's quilting projects that keep me awake--thoughts of all the tings I want to do/make. I get my best praying done while I lay awake at night! You are in those prayers

Velda... I bet you are counting the days til you head down to Texas. Will there be places to go fishing in Texas? Next year, remember Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes so you might have to come up here and do a little fishing!

Joanne... SO good to see you here! Sorry the RA is causing you such pain... Maybe you can teach Earl how to hand stitch bindings? LOL

Kathy.... Don't you just love SKYPE! I remember when such a thing was "science fiction" I try to SKYPE with Jen in AK, but her internet connection isn't always very good. We "face time" on the phone once in while, but with a 3 hour time difference it's hard to catch her sometimes. Are the fall colors just gorgeous in MA? I think we've hit our peak here, and the wind yesterday blew a lot off the trees.

Vicky... you slept til 6:50?? What time do you usually get up? How wonderful to have all those folks bring food for your worship! How many people come to your home? How is your MIL doing?

Lois... I hope Tuesday brings good news for you and that boot can come off! You must have a zillion hexies by now. Do you get a little package from me? I mailed you something, but hope they didn't get lost in the mail!

Well girls, the coffee is kicking in.. time to wash the face, comb the hair, throw on the jeans and head to town. Drat the clouds are moving in!

I'll come back later at "break time" and see what y'all are up to!

Good Morning to Everyone!

Gee, I am another one that can't sleep seems like when I lay down my bladder kicks in and I am up & down several times during the night sometimes I can't get right back to sleep as my brain kicks in an I think of this then that I think that is why I am tired at least a factor.
I am thinking of getting a binding ready for a quilt an maybe some small embroidery work to do after my surgery not sure what I will feel like doing (never had this kind of surg. before)it depends on how much they do if the Lymph Nodes are involved it could be a bigger surgery.

It looks like we will be having a beautiful Fall day here in KS. I do love the Fall weather, crisp!

This afternoon we are going to Yoder,KS. which is Amish community they have a neat restaurant there, we will be meeting this younger couple for lunch I haven't see them in over 6 yrs. I helped in the delivery room when their daughter was born. Have a lot of catching up to do.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Prayers for all in need.
