Chriss - forget it!! I'll never be a hexi ho!! LOL You can sand blast paint off of things. Sand blasting makes pits on those 221 Featherweights so you have to use a chemical stripper or a blaster that uses baking soda instead of sand or sugar.
Chickie - I feel bad that you had a sinus headache but it's great you had a god visit with your mom. I wish I could visit my mom and show her all the quilts and stuff I've made.
Mel - ignore the nausea by sleeping. That's my remedy. Oh, and lay on your stomach.
Kathy - so where are the pix from the one woman quilt show? How big were the strips in that 14" log cabin?
Karlene - I know just what you mean about cleaning better when no one else is around. That's why I don't like being home when my cleaning lady is cleaning. I think she's why I don't retire - when I retire I will have to clean my own house like I use to when I was younger. UGH I had no idea cat's claws go in and out. I thought they were always "there" unless they are declawed.
Sharona - I know you are going nutty with all the packing and boxes and trying to remember all you need to do for the move. But, like gas, this too shall pass. And then you get to decorate your new house.
Tina - I'm going to have to try that pillow trick to see if I'm losing my hearing. Thanks for mentioning that.
PS - that "gas" thing - I stole that from the Peach. LOL LOL

Re: Thursday, September 19th (Friday Eve)
Hi All,
Just doing some reading on here.
Looks to me like everyone is busy.
I have read several posts in the past week
about Sylvia blocks what is that all about .
I am looking for inspiration for my 50th
wedding anniversary maybe.
I also talked to someone at the school system
about starting a pillowcase project and they had
no idea how I could get it started because in the
school system here they don't have sewing like we
used to do when we were in school. But that was a
long time ago.
I find that very sad.
Well I got my two cents in for today I will be back tomorrow.
Have a wonderful day and the weekend coming.
God bless
Dolores

Good Afternoon.....
Taking a break from quilting....eyes are going bonkers.
Maryz.....how sweet of Scottie to be sleeping through the night. Good Boy! Not a plain toga for you Mary...a patchwork one.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Carole!!!! Mary!!!! Traci!!!!
Chriss....be kind to that skunk....his stink is forever. It is very quilty here part of the old New England charm.
Chickie....I love hearing about the time you spend with you Mom. A real sewing duo. Hope you head is better by now.
Cindyg....hoping you weather improves for you. After a work week you deserve to do some quilting. May it rain only in the night.
Mell....OK, lets organize these babies and get them all here safely.
One big "Baby Day"!!
Karlene....when you clean alone there are no distractions or interuptions. Plus you get it done faster.
Sharona....Moving & a bad knee.....not a good combo. That is how people show houses for sale boxes all over. My dinning room became the box room. The mess & clutter drove me crazy. Trust me it's wonderful when it's all over.
Tina....wishing you a good day.
Irish....oh no a new potty should not be leaking. Good kuck this time.
Cindyg...I took no pictures. I lost my camera. The last time I saw it was here in the sewing room. I would say the the strips were 2" finished.
Dolores....the pillowcase projects are a wonderful idea.
Love & Prayers....Kathy
pardom my 'spell check' is not working

Re: Thursday, September 19th (Friday Eve)
I had a long 'chat' all type out and then my computer froze up. Three hours later it was still frozen, so I had to call my "tech". And then had to wait until he was done playing with the puppy!
SHARONA - I actually like temporary chaos in life. It's almost like camping when you're in the midst of a big move like yours. So, I have to ask - how far will your sewing room be from your house? In case you haven't noticed, Colorado can have some very interesting weather. ... Just wondering. A covered, enclosed walkway would be a must for wimpy me!
KARLENE - when cats get older they can't or just don't retract their claws. I clip ours with my nail clippers to keep them as dull as I can. Glad your dad is doing well. If not, there are private duty nurses for a few days. . .
IRISH - So sorry about your loo leak. We had one, too, a few weeks ago. After fixing it, Bill went out to the end of the driveway (about 1/10th of a mile to turn the water back on, not realizing that he didn't have the toilet valve completely turned off. Adventure ensued!! I "mopped" the ceiling and the wallpapered walls and cabinetry while he used the shop vac to suck up more than 8 gallons of water. It was 2" deep. you have my sympathies for any plumbing woes. As for your DH's dr appt, if you really can't go (we always try to go together for that extra set of ears. Medical jargon can be so confusing - even for old nurses!) But you could always call the dr office and ask them to put a little note in his chart alerting the doctor to check out these symptoms you're seeing.
CHICKIE - hope that H/A is gone today. But if not, maybe a little cotton therapy with your mom will be a good distraction.
DELORES - several of our members are working on Sylvia's Wedding Quilt as a sew-along. I'm not, but it's fun to follow along and see their beautiful blocks. They are on week #3 and doing 3 blocks a week. Check it out . ..
CINDY - how much soda does it take to blast a machine? Can you reuse what you catch? and how do you not blast it all over the garage?
CHRISS - we did indeed find ourselves deep in doo-doo for the vet. Thank you for your concern . . .
TINA - yes, that's all they had. No rice, no veggies, no bread. But I gutted it out, drank a lot of water, and my mama would have been proud. When my dad ate fish, he didn't want any other food with it either. maybe it's an old-timey thing . . . So which Alaskan Sampler block is next for you?
MEL - sorry your tummy is 'off' today. Should I pray for you to feel better tomorrow or do you want to stay home on Friday and make a long weekend of it? Just let me know. and what's the news on your baby front?
KATHY - I just love that you're back posting with us again! So happy your DD is in good hands now. Prayers are on-going, still!
I had a very deep muscle massage this morning and pressure point manipulation. I'll probably be sore tomorrow, but I think we made some progress on loosening up those tight muscle fibers. He says the culprit actions are raking, shoveling, vacuuming, driving, SEWING, sweeping, mopping, and similiar motions will cause this. And I did do a lot of raking, vac'g, and sewing in the past month . . . RATS!!

Happy B day to Traci, Carole, and Mary!!!!
Our lunch was great. This place was about an hour away.
Unique story about this place. A lady started this business to feed local farmers and is open 6am to 1pm. The grill turns off at 12:30 sharp!
Word of mouth has spread to grow this business. People come from all over. It's way out in the rural area.
All seating is outdoors at picnic tables under huge shade trees.
Delicious burgers, bag of chips and a soft drink.
Just an old farm house to house the little store.
We enjoyed it.
I wish We could just drop a link for pictures right from our phones.
I took a couple of pictures, but will have to download them to photo bucket to send the link.
Someone asked, we leave for Texas Oct 31, if DH has a good DR report.

Re: Thursday, September 19th (Friday Eve)
Good afternoon.....
Everyone is busy!
Suzette.. hope all goes well with your surgery. I will keep you in my prayers. Sounds like the docs have a good plan tho.
Chriss... I love back to school nights. I was looking forward to getting to go again....but Cooper is going to a brand new school that is strictly pre-k and you talk about disorganized!!! They aren't having it. They said maybe next year. I have the feeling that Cooper and the other kids are guinea pigs at this new school. It is making me so frustrated....they don't send a menu home, they don't communicate at all with the parents. Today I had to call and they were kind of rude and hurried. Time will tell. He doesn't HAVE to go to pre-k but he does get speech therapy. He doesn't talk about it much at all.
Jules....hope your asthma gets better. What is the weather like there? My allergies always bother me in the fall.
Maryz...sounds like Scottie is a keeper. Does he like to cuddle with you? Maybe he can be the official quilt mascot dog for qiad!!!
Chickie....sorry about your sinus headache. It sounds like you had a great visit with your mom. What kind of aprons did you make? Half -apron or full ones? You know what I mean ....right?
Sharona....hope your move goes smoothly. Glad you are getting your own sewing studio. A room with windows is much better than a basement with none!! Time will fly by and you will be all settled in.
Vicky...I sure hope Tia and the baby are doing well. Are you going to keep Jovanna for a bit? Babies grow up way too fast!
Kathy... do you miss your old house? It sounds like you have settled in nicely. A one woman quilt show!! Maybe we should all have one!
Well I have to fix supper for the munckins!! Probably chicken nuggets and some veggies.
Remember my court date last Friday the 13th? Well I should have stayed home. Just to let you know judges don't work on Friday here. The court clerk must have thought the kids dad was hot (if she only knew) because she wasn't going to make him pay any child support! It's a mess and confusing to me....but It is what it is!
Hugs to all..
Sharon

Chumley has found mommmas moo moo to be quite a fun place LOL he has now crawled up it and fell asleep for the moment:) Snickers has just got done getting a drink out of pool and headed my way with Im ready to curl up in your lap look. Tummy is full and round. And JUMP here she is.
I am covered in hair but they are too sweet:)
Off tomorrow for DH and my 27th anniv. Happy bday to all the gals celebrating. DS has bday Sunday momma laying low and letting DDIL do first bday since married. Not sure what the plan is. I really want to make his favorite cake and meal but DH says let it go this year so I am. Just realized chumley had moved my cursor in middle of paragraph. I cant see screen now he is in lap pawing me t death. Ok had to shew him away.
dolores you should join us on sylvia block sew along. So much fun gives a whole new meaning to agrivation LOL No just kidding. I am loving it. Never did such small blocks though and all the old fasioned way with templates UGH was what I thought of cat and mouse block. I did redo it and measure and measure again to get it to set right second time around.
vicky and shelly have really pretty color schemes going on. Vicky is amish bright and black and shelly is batik. I think the rest of us are scrappers:))Which is nice too cause each block has its own personality:)
Bees and wasps are bad tonight YIKIES. May head for the door in a bit.
Well better go check out pics and see what everyones been up too.
