Good morning and happy Friday.. this week has gone by so quickly.. and I have plans to sew all weekend.. I have swap blocks to finish up and swap blocks to start.

and I need to think about secret Santa coming up soon...

Carol, how was the class? put those tomatoes in a freezer bag and freeze them.. when you get enough make tomato juice to add to soup or stew.. or invite me over for a tomato and cheese sandwich...

Cindyg... I think Marilyn and I will go shopping next weekend.. hopefully we won't have to go to too many places.. she is between a little girl and a teen and clothes are a challenge...I think your binding sounds very exciting...

Kathy, glad Kim is on the right track mentally, it will do her good to have positive thoughts... 12th floor sounds like the penthouse suite...enjoy the berries.

Scrappy Pat... I knew you'd find something hidden you had forgotten about when you were cleaning.. don't tell Jerry but I find hidden things too... we should form a sisterhood of found lost things, bet we'd have lots of members...lol

Judi, wow, what fun you will have at the quilt show, and no men to rush you along...

Izzy, when he's done painting here I will send him to you... we have picked out our bedroom color and he is prepping that now.. it will take a lot of work to empty it out.

Chickie.. how big is the town where your rentals are? sorry you have to clean them so often..hope you get some good renters soon.

Maryz.. school starts sept 4th... not sure if Jerry will be at the school or not.. they have a new principal and Mar has a new teacher.. they have added other staff too so he may not be "needed" thankfully the principal and new teacher are men.. they had an all woman staff last year with Jerry being the only man on campus.. Men aren't the pushovers women are... time will tell...hope your DD in Austin is doing well.. she is blessed to have a mom to come to when she needs you...

O'Dorothy, how exciting...I wonder if Nicky is still a chef? Marilyn is starting to want to cook now.. she made the noodle roni for last nights dinner...maybe we will find something a little more difficult that she can make this weekend.

Velda, your fishing sounds fun... what pattern are you using for your table runners?

Jana, hope Ethan is feeling much better today... give him a smooch for me.

Vicky, your trees look great.

Teresa, have a fun day, wish I were there... but I have blocks to finish....I love Joan's quilt, it is so so pretty....

Lori and Lois.. have a great day and weekend.

Suzette, how cool to go to the quilt retreat, I have never been to one, I bet you have a great time and make new friends.. what fun to be you.

BArbara.. wow.. a huge congratulations on your CNA and your future nursing classes.. you will do well... my aunt used to tell me that when your tooth falls out and if you don't stick your tongue in the hole you will get a gold tooth, then she showed me all the gold crowns on her molar's.. I never could get a gold tooth...lol

MaryRose... I have the weekend free too, come over and we will sew...

Judi, fishing sounds fun

Chrissy, prayers to you and yours

Vicky.. hope Ross marries the nice girl...Emily is young yet..she has time... glad you are making some quilts for you, hope you feel better soon.

Izzy, happy owl hanging.. we see plastic statue owl's around here, they use them to scare the pigeons away...

ok, I need to move, I have typed my morning away....I posted pictures of Marilyn's room in the photo seciton..

hope you all have a super duper day

Good Friday Morning!
The in-laws arrive this afternoon with the kids. I tried to get DH to call and find out what their sched. was but he said, why, we'll find out soon enough - so it is hard to plan anything other than there will be beds made up and food available. MEN! Oh well; can't change him.

Have a great weekend everyone - especially those going to the quilt show.

Good Morning,

TERESA - have a good time at the 'fest'!

LORI - where in OR is the quilt show going? Portland? That's only 3 hrs from me!

VICKY - I'd forgotten about your Forest blocks! Hope you feel better soon.

SUZ - retreat! Yay!! I've got my quilts all ready to go to the fair this weekend.

BARB - congrats on the classes and the test! Good luck with nursing school. Why wouldn't you want your DH to know about that? I would think he'd be very proud of you.

JUDI - sometimes the impromptu events are the best! I'll be hitting Joann's sometime this weekend with my coupon.

CHRISSY - Good news about Heather. Will say some prayers for Lottie.

MARY R - how wonderful that the young folks came to help in your garden!

IZZY - happy open house! We have a little friend in Nashville who's first day of Kindergarten was Wednesday. You guys start early back there!

I've laid all my redwork Santa blocks out on the floor to think about them. And I'm not liking what i'm thinking. The quilt just isn't big enough. I'm trying to think of various ways I could make it bigger without embroidering another half-dozen blocks (which would be repeats). Blocks are on point. Maybe I'll piece some pinwheels or something and alternate with redwork blocks. This is the last of the three Christmas quilts I'm making for my kids. Each one has been "self-designed" to their requests. and each one has been a headache! lol! But I've loved the process of beating them (quilts, not kids!) into submission.

While my mind is working on that problem, my hands will be working on a few more of my 30's log cabin blocks today.

Be safe on the roads all who are traveling today!

CHRISS - hope you get to sew the weekend away! My teenaged brothers always told me I'd get a gold tooth, too, if I didn't put my tongue in the space. But I always did and I never got a gold tooth, so I knew they were telling me the truth!

KARLENE - men don't understand because they don't usually do the work of getting ready for company! Hope you can relax and enjoy your time with them. We have company coming to visit us in September. So we'll be doing the same thing then!

I know more of you will be stopping by later - Cindy, Chickie, Jana, . . . Hi to you all!

Teresa - I'm not sure what you are asking me but the quilt is not one of my own. It is a charity quilt from my guild. Someone pieces the top, another quilts it and I take one that needs binding. I want to finish it so I can take it back to guild on Tuesday night. If you are asking about gluing the binding, that's how I do it. I sew it on and use glue and an iron to stick it in place so I don't have to use pins or clips. I use the glue that washes out. Have yourself a great time at the quilt show!

Lori - you have a great time tomorrow at the quilt show. Do you just go for one day?

Lois - I hope your doctor says you are fit as a fiddle. You have a full morning.

Suz - your retreat sounds wonderful. When is it? I can't find my brass stiletto. Been looking for months.

Girl - our twinkies start school this month, too. I can't believe they are that old already. WOW the tooth fairy is generous at your house!

MaryRosebud - where did you find those young adults that helped you in the yard? That was so sweet of them.

Judi - IKEA has the most wonderful little LED light. I use mine in the RV. You can adjust where the light shines so I put it behind me and shine it over my shoulder to do my handwork...and it was cheap. I love that light.

Chrissy1 - prayers going up for Torrie. Please keep us posted.

Vicky - Emily is funny to be planning her non-existent wedding - LOL. I love your trees and can't wait to see that quilt finished but I know your MIL and Shannon need your help today if you feel up to it.

Izzy - I sure envy you the cool mornings. We don't even get down out of the 80's at night and it's just crazy muggy...and yet it doesn't rain. Please send me just one of your cool mornings!

After work today DH and I have to run to the mall and then we'll eat at my fave Chinese Buffet. Last night we got all his stuff packed up to take Nova Montgomery's class in Huntsville tomorrow. I think he's actually looking forward to it. I hope Kenn (Sue's DH) is, too. I also hope Don doesn't start thinking too much about Ed and the fact that he isn't there with them. Anyway, when we get home tonight I'll continue working on that binding of the charity quilt. Tomorrow Sue and I are doing something....don't know exactly what yet. But for now I must get busy.

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

For binding check this out. It's how I do it. http://quiltinggallery.com/2008/05/15/b ... hool-glue/

Chriss - yea - you are free to sew this weekend. Good luck with the school shopping. I'm so jealous - you are getting your bedroom painted.

Karlene - sometimes men are so useless. LOL Is there some reason why you don't call them? I would definitely want to know approx. what time my company was coming. As hostesses we need to know that.

Maryz - oh, there is a bazillion ways to make that quilt bigger....you can always shrink the kids - LOL LOL. I think I would do a green, white and red checkerboard sashing between the blocks you have. Make it easy on yourself. Tell Bill that this is Don and Kenn's weekend with Nova Montgomery. Don never did paint his machine red so Nova, the purist, won't be having a heart attack over his red Featherweight - LOL LOL. I have been using Fannie, the blue centennial 221, to build my floral log cabins. She does such a good job.

Good Chilly Rainy Morning...

Thank you for your prayers. Kim is resting comfortably & waiting for test results today. Then they(8drs)can make thier treatment plan. There are no meds they can give her to reverse this. So we'll see.

This is a fun place to live. Yesterday the woman across the street, my age, came over with her grown DD & then called over to an other woman that lives down the road. We visited & I found out everything about the neighborhood....they were here 2hours. Very friendly.

Teresa....I'm so happy for you!! It's been a long time, maybe 5 yrs since I'v been to a quilt show. I'm sure there must be some around here. I found another quilt shop....a bit of a ride but what the heck. We know you'll have a wonderful time.

Lori....Oh, too bad you'll miss Teresa & carol. There could have been a "sewin" meeting. Have fun & find the fabric of your dreams.

Lois....Have a good check up! Now that I have health coverage I'll start looking for new Dr's. In the local paper yesterday I saw ads for a GYN & a prinary Dr's both woman. I think I'll start there.

Suzette....sorry about your SIL. I had a friend with that, it can be so painful. I'll pray for her. I'm so happy for you....a retreat. How nice of her to call you.

Girl....congratulations!! This is a good start, keep going! Yes!! The tooth fairy is really shelling out the big bucks now.

Mary/Rosebud....how wonderful!!! Weeding help.

Judi....that was a full day & full of fun. I wish joanns was closer to me.

Chrissy....thanks for the up date. I'm going with purple polish. You know we love you. (((HUGS))

Vicky....sorry you're not feeling well. Don't push youself too much. I love your quilt & happy you are keeping it.

Izzy....LOL..during the school year do you get many snow days?

Chris....What a wonderful room!! Love the colors & the boa!!!!

Karlene...your right about them not changing... Have a good visit.

Maryz....I love red work even when I do it in blue. Breaking it up with a little some thing elas sounds like a good idea.

Cindyg....Have some fun at a quilt shop.

Love & Prayers.....Kathy

Good morning!

I am fighting for space for my keyboard with my furball - he is winning at the moment! LOL I will just have to shove him over!

Ethan is doing much better today - Stu is taking care of him - Ethan just wants lots of cuddles.

I got three of the four valances finished yesterday - ran out of fabric for the fourth - so I called over to the LQS where I bought it - they are out! Of Course!! So I found it online and ordered a bunch more. The extra will make dust covers for my long baskets that sit on top of my cubbies. The fabric is a Loralie Harris - Beeline Floral Stripe - yellow and cream - she has a fun website of all of her designs. Now to get DH to hang them today - I think that will be job in itself!

Not much going on here today - just need to run out and pay a couple of bills and order the new freezer -

Off to go and look at the photo section -
Have a great day - Enjoy Long Beach - maybe they will move the show a little farther east - to SLC! That would be nice!

Hugs
Jana

Just went to po to mail out my christmas blocks for swap; oh I hope they travel well and that silly envelope doesnt explode LOL it sure was fat:))

Now to sew some. Been busy with uglies: laundry. Man do I wish I had as much money as I have dirty clothes and dishes LOL Just 3 of us but like I live in a tribe of 50 LOL

Chriss not many snow days but do love them when we get them. Funny weather here now so cool in mornings for Aug. Usually in high 90s here but we are barely reaching mid 80s. Not complaining just stating how crazy weather is. sooooo that usually means a wet winter so I am expecting snow this year.

sewing time:))
