July 4th - HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY :) :)

Post by Jules » Wed Jul 03, 2013 9:54 pm

Morning all and a very Happy 4th July to you all :)

I hope yu all have a wonderful day planned and those of you in very dry areas, hope the fireworks go as planned xx

I've had a quiet week, it was 7 years ago on Tuesday that my darling nanny (grandma) passed.......it's always a very emotional week as 3 days before we have Lily's birthday so there's lots of happy emotions for that, followed by the sadness of losing the lynchpin in our family, Lily was born 3 days before my nanny died......a week of extreme emotions and wonderful memories xx

Anyway, I'm having a quiet day today as I am out all day tomorrow and need to save my energy for that :)

Love and prayers for you all xx

Good morning Jules. I am so sorry about your nanny. I called my grandmother "nanny", too. I still miss her very much. Always good memories to call upon. I hope you have a wonderful quiet day.

Good morning and Happy 4th, everyone. Just on my way to bed but wanted to pop in and say hello. Today will be busy...we are celebrating DGS's bday today (a few days early). Not sure what all we will be doing, but I am sure DH has it all planned out.

I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday. I'll try to pop back in later.

Hugs and sweet dreams for now,
Mel

Good morning Mel, Lois, Jules and those that follow.
Well, when I woke up this morning I was surprised it wasn't raining. In a little while I will start a roast in the crockpot to make bar b que with later. Hubby started taking the old back splash down yesterday and got it all off. Today he isn't allowed to work. I want him to take it easy. We are having our neighbor over for a small cookout today. After I get the roast in the crockpot and make a macaroni salad I will go back out to my studio for a while. Have a Happy and Safe Fourth of July.

Good morning everyone. As usual I am getting ready for work. When I get home I'll get some hamburger patties made up and fire up the grill to make some hamburgers. Not sure if I'll stay awake long enough to watch the fireworks though. Hope everyone's plans for the day and evening go as planned. Happy 4th celebrations!

We did something VERY different last night, we went with Shannon and her family to the drive-in. We have one less than 5 minutes from our house and our children have never gone. We seen a kids movie Despicable Me 2. Then I brought the two little ones here and left Emily with them and they watched the second movie. I put the girls on the couches and they both were asleep in minutes. When I got up this morning they are gone and Emily is in her bed so I guess it all worked out. The second movie didn't get over until after 1 in the morning! No thanks.

Tonight we have a young man visiting (he and Emily are just friends not a relationship as of yet)and we are having a game night. Tia and JR may come over for this.

I am going to my MIL's this morning for a while Darryl works on my van... the inspection is about two months over due because of the check engine light... that is a pain... everytime I get into it to drive it I think "is this the day I'm going to get a ticket?"
So he is replacing some parts and we shall see if this fixes the problem.

I may get to sew some today, it is very muggy again today and my starch doesn't want to work in this weather. I'm having a time with this quilt!

Have a great Fourth!

Happy Fourth of July!!!!!! Today, we will be getting together with my DD and DS and the grands at my DD's. First time in a very long time we have all been together. It will be great. Tomorrow is the Long Island wedding. We are staying tonight at DD , this will save an hour of driving to the wedding. As it is, we think it will take us 3 hours to get there. Hope the traffic isn't bad on a Friday morning. Dd is taking care of Luke for us till we get home on Sat.

Yesterday I did completely piece the second embroideried throw for the grands I am making for Xmas. I only have 5 more to go, but the blocks haven't been embroidered yet. Not sure I will get any of those done while on the road.

Chriss, I know you enjoyed your birthday dinner last night. Wish I could have been there to hear what Marilyn had prepared for you. What a precious girl she is.Just goes to show you what good parenting can do.

MaryZ - hope your days are getting a little better. I know what a sad time this is for you two.

Mary/Rosebud, hope your work day goes fast and you are not too tired when you get home. Give my best to Randy.

MaryQ, so many Mary's lol. Hope you do get to sew over the weekend . Boy these let nights must wear you down after awhile.

Tina , You go girl. Read your thing about the quilt show on FB. I agree totally with you.
How I Duncan doing?

Well I do need another cup of coffee so off I go. Have a firecracker of a day today.

Good morning.. happy 4th...

Sharona.. two months in Russia.. that's a long visit.. does the mom live there or have family there? I have less than 10 pages to go in the pickle book...it is a good and quick read..

Kathy, hope the doc appt went well.. is DD all cleared to be on her own?

Jana, we have an airless painter.. it's a brush and a roller...lol.. hope the couch works for you.

Maryq.. happy day off.. I have to work friday but will have the weekend off... why are you packing your aunt's house? hope it goes quickly..

Tina, Chickie and ShirleyMae.. have a super day.

O'Dorothy, work was nice yesterday, the girls bought pizza and a cheese cake.. Marilyn has also taken a liking to Applebees.. funny, she used to not like anything but Ramen and pop corn now she likes so much more...hope Kathy loves her corn.. Nicky should be there soon, shouldn't he?

Izzy, sorry I missed that church pot luck, your dishes sound wonderful.

Mel. 5 days off? come here and we will sew then on Saturday good will has their top dollar sale where all tops are a buck... fun fun... glad DGS will get his cake.. there is a lot to worry about at his age.. cake, the tooth fairy and Santa...could keep him up nights...lol

Scrappy Pat.. nice of you to quilt charity quilts.. sounds like you had a grand visit with the kids....

Jules.. I am sorry you lost your nanny...when my son was about 3 or 4 my grandma passed away.. my son said that when people die they become someones guardian angel.. he said my grandma was his angel, perhaps your nanny is Lily's angel? tuesday I went shopping and bought my grandma a house coat with daisies all over it.. I thought of you...

Lois.. we won't be going anywhere for fireworks either.. it is supposed to only be 105 today, but I sure ain't sittin' in that heat to watch a light show...lol

Suzette, your cook out sounds wonderful.. I love mac salad... but am the only one here who will eat it.. lots of work for one person...

MaryRose.. I love burgers on the grill, I just may be there for dinner, throw an extra patty on the grill for me.

Vicky.. we don't have any drive in's near us anymore.. I would love to give Marilyn that experience... happy game night.. I found a trivia game on clearance at WM the other day for $2.. bargain...

CArole, hope the wedding goes well.. hope you have easy travels to and from it... nice that staying with DD will save you an hours drive...

my plan for today is to finish my book.. whoever wants to read the Persian Pickle club by Sandra Dallas next let me know and I will send it to you... then I will go sew, hopefully finish my Chritmas swap blocks so I can start on my Calendar swap...

we do have someone coming from the adoption place, they want to make sure Marilyns wishes are met regarding visits with her birth parents.. this is the stupidest waste of time and tax payers dollars I have ever seen... seems that the adoption is being delayed because both parents called cps and said we weren't letting them talk with Marilyn... not true, just causing delay's.... and you should always listen to the drug addicts and low lifes....but we are in the "whatever" mode now...not sure if this will ever end... but is sure creates job security for the state and county workers...

and I am off to start my day... if you have fireworks please have a hose and bucket of water handy, stay safe,

Chriss

Good morning Happy Independence day. I have a few things to do here and a dessert and a dip to make....I will be making banana budding(old fashioned kind) and a blt dip for DDs house. She is doing burgers and dogs on the grill. there will be lots of salads too.

We did get a little rain over night but it looks pretty good this morning, I closed the house up and turned the AC on because of the fireworks. It is pretty noisy. It is our neighbors and they quit by 11 so not too bad,

I have 4 more blocks in the Dresden Plate to do. They don't take too long once you get going. A lot of cutting and sewing. I am still searching for the perfect applique to go around them.

I did add caffience back to my mornings....the reason I was told to lay off of it for awhile . it makes my heart race sometimes and Dr said try decaf. I did and no difference, so caffiene is back at least til I see him on monday.

Be safe out there and have a fun 4th, If you having a quiet at home day make it a good one. XXXOOO

Happpy Independence Day, everyone! Especially to all our military and their families who make it possible for us to keep celebrating our blessed independence.

JULES - I know something of what you are feeling. My LDH#1 was killed 2 days after our son's 10th birthday. He is 38 now but still can't celebrate without thinking of that traumatic loss. My LDH#2 died 3 days after my own birthday and on my brother's birthday. A lot of memories there, too. But I know both men would want us to mark the day by doing something that we love, and not dwell on our losses. For me, I usually sew. My son goes to watch the Mariners lose. And soon the day slips by. God bless.

MEL - hope your DGS's birthday is a wonderful memory to him! Is he 7 now? I remember my 7th birhtday. I got a fishing pole (still have it!) and a book bag for school.

LOIS - I'm with you on the crowds. But DH thinks we might drive into Tacoma and park on a hill and watch the fireworks over Commencement Bay. Or we might watch the Seattle show, set to music, on TV.

SUZ - I can smell your dinner cooking clear from here and the aroma is making my mouth water!

ROSEBUD - I like burgers, too . . . Sorry you have to work today. But hope you're able to stay awake long enough to enjoy the evening.

VICKY - I remember taking the kids to the drive-in 33 yrs ago to see E.T. DD#2 was 2-1/2 yrs old. She was still in diapers, but suddenly was asking to go potty about every 30 min. Back and forth to the bathroom I went with her. After she was grown up, she told me the movie scared her and this was her way to get out of seeing it. But from then on, she was potty trained! And that's my drive-in story.

CAROLE - enjoy your side-trip! But I don't envy you your drive. I know KATHY is somewhere on Long Island still, caring for her DD. So happy you have a good place to leave Luke. I HATE kennels. Thank you for your kind thoughts. Life is still pretty 'flat' around here without Junior underfoot every time I open the fridge. But I'm sure it will get better soon.

CHRISS - hope your birthday was awesome! All the adoption folks have to do is come to your home and see how wonderfully Marilyn is doing and compare that to her parents' lives. I bet that adoption flies through to completion. I've been to your home. It's a clean, warm, healthy, happy environment. You even play Monopoly! Hope you get to finish your Christmas blocks today!

JUDI - could we have tapioca or rice pudding instead of banana please? Banana just isn't my favorite . . .

CINDY - thoughts with Ed & Vicki today.

Today we are laying a little low. We celebrated with my DS & DIL last Sunday. So it's uglies and laundry for me, maybe a little weeding (but probably not ;o} ) and some sewing. DH is quilting the Christmas quilt for DS & DIL and cleaning the shop and the garage (his ongoing projects).

Be safe today! and enjoy! Because we CAN!
