Good Morning Girls
A brief hello this morning as I am in the middle of getting ready for work. TWO more days!! Man I wish the sun would shine up here! The forecast for the weekend doesn't look great for mowing, so maybe there will be time for sewing! Actually I should probably spend the rainy weekend cleaning up sewing messes--as there are many. My ADD has gotten the better of me and I have projects all over the place.
Can't stay to chat this morning, but I do have to say I LOVE Maryz's new sewing room!
Have a great day girls!

SHARONA - glad you got a new computer. At our house, since Bill's profession was computers and I'm a pencil and paper kind of gal, he does all our computer stuff. We both like it that way!
CHRISS - It's an ambitious undertaking to paint the whole house. It took me a week just to paint our bathroom! I always love a sunny yellow for any room. You can always tone it down with accessories if you think it's too bright. I read in a decorator magazine once that ceilings should be lighter than the walls if the walls are 9' or less, and darker than the walls if ceilings were over 9'. My ceilings are all white because, even though my living room is vaulted and runs from 8' to 15' high, I'm chicken to veer from our standard white. Bill put down an snap-together engineered wood floor in our kitchen a few years ago. We LOVE it! He laid it on a 45* angle to add interest.
KARLENE - glad you like my sewing room! God designed it just for me!
CINDY - your 'student' will be getting students of her own before long! You're a good teacher! How you can do it all plus work full time and keep watch for snakes is beyond me! A modern pioneer woman! haha! I wonder if my grandmother (another Mary) would be proud or just shake her head at me!
I'm still catching up on all I missed while I was gone so please forgive my posting and re-posting. And I noticed pre-washing came up for discussion. I usually pre-wash everything, but 3 yrs ago I made two quilts without washing the fabric. By the time I was done my hands were a red/itchy/blistered mess and I could hardly breathe from the sizing on the fabrics. As far as I know I have no real allergies, but that fabric almost did me in. Now, I wash it all!

Good morning!
The sun is shining and the rooster is crowing and it is just the right temp too. But not for long - It is going to get in the high 90's today. Glad that I have A/C! I plan to stay inside! LOL
Maryz - now that is what I call a sewing room!
Not much going on around here - Sarah's DH has two interviews today and one more tomorrow - that will do it for all the jobs so far - just waiting on call backs.
There are days that I should not be allowed to do math! In cutting out my table runner - I made twice as many goose tracks for the blocks as I need! But alas, it will work in my favor - I have two surfaces, the table and a buffet in the same area - so they both will have one! Now that will necessiatate (sp) a trip to the LQS for some more backing fabric - humm - maybe not so bad! LOL Do I still need to finish squaring them up - there are 80 total and I have done 8!
Ethan has a stash of binkies in the house - I give him one and he shows up with another - boy do I need to find his hiding places!
Our PO in Concord, California was notorious for losing magazines! We had tracers on all of ours - they were constantly losing them and the mag companies told us when the mags should arrive and if they were not there by that time that we were to call the mag company and they would send new ones and get after the PO. Seemed to work - all of a sudden the mags started to arrive on time. We too thought that there was a model railroader out there getting ours! The PO here in Herriman is wonderful - great service at the office as well as delivery - love them!
Well it is Thursday and that means uglies around here - Michael finished up his work hours early - so he has the rest of the week off too -
Have a great day
Hugs
Jana

Re: Thursday June 6,2013
Good morning! I’m waist deep in laundry today, plus I have to go clean an oven at a rental. The girl forgot to do it. Fortunately, it’s not bad, plus the oven dismantles and the Teflon side and back panels come out, so it’s a fairly easy job. It’s just DOING it. We have the house rented again, and they will be moving in soon—needs to be done today.
I got all of my errands finished yesterday, but I ran out of truck hauling space and time before I could get to the flower nursery. Sigh! Home Depot was too proud of their plants although they looked pretty good. I got cushions for some old deck furniture that was left at a rental (no cushions) that DH is going to refurbish for my sun room. It will look very tropical in there! I can imagine retreating there in the winter with my house plants and orchid and palm cushions! DH was choking when I told him the prices of patio furniture that I really wanted in there, so he jumped at the chance to save big bucks! I had to lock down the cover on my truck bed to keep the cushions from popping the lid and flying out. Odie and I had to smell the chicken all the way home! I had it behind us in the cab along with my other errand purchases. We dropped off a chicken dinner to Mom, and she was so delighted!
Lois—our DBIL across the road is retired from the Postal Service. He left early because it was so messed up. My mom misses him as he was her mailman. They no longer have regular routes but may work a different one every day of the week. They also have “quotas”—efficiency experts follow them to make sure they are going as fast as they can and parking their trucks correctly… just a bunch of hassle! Remember when the mailman used to be the one to check on someone if their mail piled up… especially the elderly? No more! Hustle, hustle, hustle!!! If they don’t get done in time, they get written up. You hear all the time about mail getting stuffed in barrels undelivered… now you know why!!! I have a feeling your magazines are heavy, and maybe they get chucked before delivery! Mom used to get her mail delivered at a specific time every day when Mick was her only mailman… before all the “efficiency” (craziness) started. Now it is any time of day including after 6:00 p.m.! Plus, how efficient is this… in an area with few houses in town, TWO different trucks deliver the different sides of the street! She is the side that is the last street in town. It’s just nuts! (Sorry for the rant!)
MaryZ—your sewing room is beautiful!!!
Kathy—I hope that your staying at the Ex’s won’t be as awful as you feel it may be. It’s good you are able to be with your DD and help her—no matter where it is!
I have to go feed the washer… I’ll try to check back later and catch up some more…
Have a great day!

Good late morning from soggy, warm, SW. Pa....We are having a purrrfect rainy day and my plants are so happy.....
Jim has gone to help with the elderly bingo and the furkids are all napping...I have a loaf of cinnamon bread in the oven so the house it smelling so good...As Chriss would say, "it's good to be me"......
Don't get me started on the workings of the Post Office...They messed with Kathy for over 5 years and she finally left...She ran 2 1/2 different offices and put in 40+ hours a week but they wouldn't put her on as a full time employee, which meant no benefits, no vacation, no nothing.....She quit here and started from scratch in Reno and is making quite a bit more and will be getting benefits and is doing pretty much the same job.....Postal Service messed up?????
Chriss, sorry but the thought of going to the dentist sends chills up my spine...And we have a painless dentist but the "idea"....And I need to get there, I had chipped a tooth just last Sunday but it can wait awhile longer (as I sit here munching on cashews)....I'd love to have new flooring in my kitchen but Jim still insists on the carpeting....He likes his tootsies to be warm in the winter.....
Well, I need to get to my "job"...Today, while it's quiet, I need to update the check book...We write so few checks any more, I don't check it for months..I'm always in for a surprise because I haven't added in the pension and SS checks......
You all have a great day............

Irish--I agree! The postal service is really messed up!!! They keep trying to close our small post office that serves at least a 40 mile area. They claim the budget is too large. The PO is open 2 hours a day with a part-time employee. However, kicker here--the USPS charges a FULL TIME postmaster salary to our zip code's budget. They have put the PM who was here in another town 60 miles away but keep charging her salary to the budget here. Therefore, our PO is on the chopping block! I think the PM General should be a woman who knows how to manage budgets!!! So glad that Kathy is doing well and working her way up "out there in the frontier"!
I was out hanging up my laundry and saw my first two California poppies!!! I was so thrilled--haven't had any in at least 35 years!!! I have two more buds and promises, I'm sure, of more! I'm waiting to see the nasturtiums bloom!
Have another load of laundry to hang out, then going to go clean the oven at the rental. At least it's much cleaner than most of them!!! At one place, I actually had DH junk the stove and get another used one to replace it with. I would have used more cleaner supplies than the thing was worth. You should have seen under it when we pulled it out... We're talking putty knives to scrape the floor... (Have I mentioned I hate the rental business???)
I may be back later...

Well I'm back,
Picked up a couple candles Raspberry Cream, Tea & Honey, & Cranberry.
The Lobster roll was yummy. Now time to sew
Judi....I can't wait to see the dress for Sophia. One of my favorite photos is my DGD in the dress I made for her mother. I'm happy to hear that graduation & dinner went so well.
Sharona....happy time with your new laptop.
Maryz.....that is some sweet place to sew. I'll be over...what a view!! A Lobster Roll is lobster meat with a little mayo on a hot dog roll that is shaped with the cut on the top never the side type.
Chriss....yellow is very cheery. Good luck with the floor.
Cindyg.....what is a Lampe Berger? Yes I have 2 hand quilting projects to take with me. I'm sure all will be fine.
BBL.....Kathy

Student and dear friend has gone for the day. We had subs for lunch and she finished quilting on the LA that was her lesson for the day. Having flannel backing was a bit challenging and she has a few wrinkles. but she was happy with the t shirt quilt. She can handle binding and label herself. She has come a long way. now she is hooked on quilting and went home with a few magazines to make a Christmas tree skirt. Now to get her hooked on Hexxies....I did show her my quilts. (I am so bad) Well I need to get that label finsihed////XXXOOO
