Deb, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your FIL. He sounds like a very special person in your life. Your children have been thru so much at such a young age. It is hard to say good-bye to those we love and we will miss them so much when they leave us.

Share your grief with your children and family but also share your happy memories too. Ask the children to talk about how they feel and just listen and, if they will allow it, hug them and hold their hand. Talking about it will help them to deal with it. Ask them to share some happy memories about him and perhaps others that have gone on before him.

Does their school have some kind of counselor or perhaps a church pastor to talk to about all of this? Shared grief is easier to deal with but the happy memories brought up will help to soften the grief a little. Make sure the kids know it is okay to cry, to feel grief and even pain at all the sadness. You have to feel it to deal with it.

My brother lost his wife yrs ago when the kids were only 3 & 4. I am not sure they ever dealt with. No one even discussed it around them for a long long time. Kids see the grief and it scares them because they aren't sure how to react.

May God bring you comfort and peace today. May you feel the love and hugs and prayers of caring across the miles. May you all be surrounded with the support of many angels in your life today. Praying that you know we are here for you anytime.

Wish I could be there to just sit by your side, to hug you, to hold your hand, to listen to your own broken heart, to wipe away the tears, and to do anything I could to support you and your family. You are a dear member of our "cyber" family and when you are hurting, we all hurt along with you. Praying a few words and lots of prayers will bring some measure of comfort and hope to you. If we can do anything for you, please let us know.

May God bless you and your family today and always. You have been thru so much. Lots of love and hugs. Shirley Mae ps How is your husband doing these days? I know you did some traveling a while back.

Deb

You have my deepest sympathy. I feel your pain as I lost my FIL 15 years ago and it seems like yesterday. I know your FIL was an ex but the relaationship you had was special. Keep those happy thoughts of him and remember how lucky you were to know him and have that loving relationship with him that the other family members never had.

Again my deepest sympathy and love,
Hugs,

Tina

I just love "family." No one takes the word seriously any more. All it comes down to is what is in it for me. I got thrown out and disowned by one person who come to find out was not all that moral herself. Now I am the bad guy because I brought up the illegalities many months ago and no one believed me. By the way "family" - Facebook is a public forum. One can post whatever he or she thinks. If someone wants to post a tribute to someone they are free to do so - this is America dumb asses!! First amendment!!! In the mean time I have a man who has been in my life since 1990 who treated me like a daughter. I have children who are heart broken. I would hope we would be allowed to grieve. This is going to be an interesting and heart wrenching week. But know I will not be pushed aside nor will my kids. Thank you for letting me vent.

It has been an interesting few days. I have the distinction of being the only daughter in law of Walt Fischer. I knew Walt (Dad) before I knew any of the other Fischers. He called me as the Pastor of the New Haven Methodist Church and he being Historian of the New Haven Congregational Church to coordinate calendars. I knew Mom and Dad before I knew Marty. I teased them that they never once mentioned they had a single son! As soon as Marty and I became engaged they were Mom and Dad - NEVERE Eva and Walt. Dad embodied Christ in all actions. If I had to pick a true Christian, Dad and Mom will always come to mind. Dad had a tremendous faith in God. When Marty was dying he was there every day, giving him support and when it came time, Dad told Marty to go find Mom and Madysen. I am sorry some family members think I am scum. But God knows, Dad knows, Mom knows and Marty knows just how much I loved them all. When I met Bernie. Marty and I agreed that I was too young to be alone for the rest of my life and I should meet someone. I went to Dad to ask his blessing. Unfortunately he had been given misinformation and he was guarded. I found out this weekend that Dad really wanted to get to know Bernie because he wanted to meet the man that was going to take care of his fourth daughter and his grandchildren. Walt Fischer was a great man. A role model if every there was. I love him and always will.

Prayers are needed for Lynne/Spudmom up in Idaho. She just lost her dearest friend, JO, to cancer. Lynne wrote a beautiful tribute to her friend here in ChitChat.

Please keep Lynne and JO's family in your prayers. I know Lynne personally and I know what a long brave struggle Jo put up before the end. And I also know that Lynne was there at her side. What a touching and inspirational friendship.

Prayers for all on here today that need God's help in any way. So many folks sick and hurting these days. May you all be surrounded with angels and lots of hugs today and always.

God bless all of you and especially Lynne today. Shirley Mae

Please keep her on your pray list. I'm afraid 2 go see her too.
