Re: Thursday, May 16, 2013
Good morning..
we are being threatened by rain from our weatherman..it will likely just be humidity... I think we are in for midwest weather.. hot and muggy, whatever happened to my dry heat???
our cat has finally brought her kittens out of hiding.. she had 3 and is now bringing them around to eat.. I haven't seen them up too close yet, but one is grey and black... so cute... hope they like hunting as much as their mom does.
Maryz.. glad you had a fun company time.. grandma is doing much better, the PT person said they will come out one more time and she is done. I will sit with her on Saturday...Jim is blessed to have you.
Sharona, I love the sounds when the window is open.. we have so many frogs, it's fun to listen to... they are tiny frogs, about the size of a 50cent piece.. they jump on the window and get the gnats.. the gnats get on the window because they are attracted to the light from inside the house... who needs tv?
Karlene, glad we will hear if it's a boy or girl soon.. hope everyone is doing well.
Cindy, not sure what's wrong with your quilt/work schedule.. but I bet you could tweak it if you needed to.. I am looking forward to a long weekend for memorial day too.
Jana, you need to tell Michael to take you shopping and you will help him pick out rock fabric..hope the fence and book shelves are just the way you wnat them.
Chickie.. the blower is a real neat thing.. I have seen them in the doorways of resturaunts and stores...hope you had a fun debby day.
Scrappy Pat... how many tomaot plants do you have? I want tomato's so bad I am thinking of buying plants that already have some and planting them... the weather sure isn't helping things ripen...ugh.
Mel, your cats sure have a hard life... they are cute.
O'Dorothy, when we were kids my parents rented a cabin in Yosemite.. there was a blue jay there that would take a peanut out of your hand.. you had to sit really still and hold the peanut between your thumb and finger, he'd land on your hand and grab the peanut and fly off... kind of like the birds that eat the cat food, they sneak in and fly off...your shopping trip in town sounds like fun.
Tina, sounds like God has been looking out for your sister.. what a blessing to have such good kids "happen" to be there...
Judi, you have a bug book??? lol....
Suzette, the baby quilt is adorable
Lori, are you sewing charms together or are you mixing things up a bit/
Lois.. yucko.. get yourself some baby wipes, there comes a time during this process where toilet paper feels like sand paper...
Chrissy, prayers for your nephew and woo hoo for your Marine..
Judi, sorry you are getting so forgetful... I have binding that I don't know what it was for.. but I have a lot of it..
Joan, happy dentist, hope it's quick
Kathy, great news about DD and rehab... you are a busy girl.
Maryz.. I so want to see the Alaska quilt.
Velda, whatever you do I hope it's fun.
oops, time has flown.. you all have a great day
Chriss

Good morning, good morning!
What a fun day yesterday turned out to be. Rich had some finals yesterday so he was not available to go with Victoria to her OB appt. so I got to go and I heard the baby's heartbeat - what a beautiful sound! It was the first time Victoria has heard it at an office visit, but she did hear it when she had the U/S. Her next appt. is in a month and they will sched. the 2nd U/S which will be around 20 wks so she is hoping to find out pink or blue with that one. I also bought her some new shoes - she has a knack for breaking the soles of her shoes right across the bottom of the arch. A pregnant woman needs good shoes!
Sounds like there are many vocal felines this morning! Have a great day,
Karlene

Good morning!
I have bright sunshine with thunder clouds rolling in late this afternoon - standard weather for this time of the year. The birdies are chirping as well as the noisy peacocks that live up the road. Oh it is so nice to live out here!
Did our traipse yesterday and got it all done - stopped at Costco and put gas in the car - I have had my baby for 13 years and Michael forgot to put the gas cap back on and lost my original one! Boy am I teasing him! He took his truck down and bought me a new one and brought me home a "repentance gift" - read bribe - cookies! LOL DS4 was here, so he ate some of the cookies.
Not much going on here - it is Thursday - so it is uglies day and I will have Ethan late tonight as it is moving day at Sarah's office.
Time for breakfast and little one -
Have a great day and be safe in the storms
Hugs
Jana

Well you all will not believe what happened with my Sis......she made it down the road 35 miles and THAT truck broke down! She was on the phone on hold for 1 1/2 hrs and she decided to hang up and call me and let me know, we hadn't talked for 3 minutes when they called her back. She talked to several people, finally this 1 guy asked her for the ID# for the truck she was in and she gave it to him, come to find out that THAT truck had been pulled 4 days ago for the transmission and breaks! She was PO'd to say the least! She sat on the side of the road for more then 6 hrs! They did get her another truck around 5pm and some guys helped her unload and load again. I really think Budget should refund her all of her money. She had to cancel appointments for turning on things in Alamogordo so now doesn't know when she'll get rescheduled. Prayers would be greatly appreciated for her. I feel so bad for her going through all this.
I gotta run, things to do. and Carole will be here today! BOING BOING!!!!!!!

Suz - I think 'yuck' about work 5 mornings a week - LOL. I'd be excited about seeing that quilt all done, too.
Lori - I hope you get to work on your red/white/blue quilt blocks again today.
Lois - I need to get another colonoscopy, too. The prep is the worst part of it. The good news about that is that we get a super good clean out.
Chrissy1 - it is the busy time of the year with proms, graduations, weddings, etc. I have three of my grandsons' birthdays in a month's time. Gets expensive. LOL
Grammie - sorry you didn't find the binding. The tornadoes were up near Dallas/Ft.Worth. I saw the devastation on GMA this morning. IMHO it should be a law that every house built in 'tornado alley' should have a basement.
Joan - ugh, the dentist. At least you are only going for a cleaning. Smile pretty.
Kathy - a quilt is the perfect thank you gift for your friend. Gosh, how do you handle a garden that's 4' tall???
Maryz - LOL LOL - if you start paying someone else to quilt your quilts then Bill might get started right up on your quilting machine. Hee hee hee. Yay for gutters and getting your projects finished up. Seems like y'all have been busy since you got home from your RV travels.
Velda - WHAT!?!?!?!?!?! No quilty plans???? Oh, well, enjoy your beading. Do you ever bead your quilts? Have I asked you that before?
Chriss - I'm really looking forward to Mem. Day weekend. Sue and I both have quilty things to work on while at the lake. We will be blinging quilted totes, Sue has binding to sew on and I have applique to work on. Do you have sewing on your agenda for that weekend?
I'm at work blah blah blah and looking forward to going home. I got a tote all cut out last night so tonight I can start putting it together. Gotta get it ready to bling over the Mem. Day weekend. Also must watch the season finale of "Gray's Anatomy".
May we all find time to fondle fabric today.

Re: Thursday, May 16, 2013
Good morning! It’s gloomy today—I do hope it rains… just not accompanied with hail and high winds! I’ve been out and filled the bird seed feeders and the hummingbird feeders—both types are popular bird cafes and don’t stay full long!
Today I will find a pot for my lantanas and citronella geranium. I think I’ll keep it on the deck for mosquito repellant! Yesterday was so much fun! Debby remarked that the tables of flowers at the nursery reminded her of a quilt! I’m making a quilter out of her, and she is making a gardener out of me!!! My late DH hated flowers or anything that interfered with his golf-course lawn, so I haven’t had flowers in 30 years. It’s so much fun getting reacquainted!!! I had spring bulbs and irises at the house that burned. There was nothing here at this site except a few irises along the fence… all that is changing!
Kathy—our garden beds are raised. DH has planted asparagus, thornless blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries in addition to peas, carrots, radishes, spinach, lettuce and maybe more. It is certainly easier to weed and harvest from the raised beds! Our tomatoes are in big tubs that originally come filled with mineral/molasses for the cows. We are recycling the empties! I also have mandevillas in a couple of them. I think DH put cantaloupe seeds in the edges, and they will drape over the sides eventually.
Tina—what a nightmare your sister has had!!! I think that she should write some letters to the officers at Budget and get an apology if not some compensation for the mess they made of her appointments and incompetence in giving her a truck that should have been in the repair shop! Just because she is a woman, she should not let it slide. Can you imagine the ruckus that would be raised if it happened to a man!!!
MaryZ—you may have to start researching how to use the Q-bot and see if you get some action from the new operator… he may not let you invade “HIS” new territory and start quilting for you. Perhaps now that the work is about to be finished outside he will come inside… good luck!!! Is he like a kid with a new toy and the new has worn off only to be discarded… I hope not!!! Good luck with the AK sampler grand finish!!!
Time for me to get busy! After a play day yesterday, I need to do some work on the floors… (as usual)… Hope to get back to my cabin blocks as well. Haven’t done much with them recently.
Have a great day, All!

The sun is shining
I've been out hanging laundry and just sitting in the warmth.
I did a 3 mile walk this morning and I seem to want to hurt all over, but I'm not going to let that get me down.
I also cleaned the house and vacuumed so now I'm going to go make a few flowers for Kim's quilt. Then get back in that sun to soak up more of that vitamin D.

Hi All just in for a few minutes...been aorking out in the yard trying to get things planted. DS#5 give me a bird feeder for Mother's Day and bought food for them he called it a "starter kit" :>) then when he finished the fence we now have a complete fenced in yard! He took a 2X4 sunk in the ground put the bird cage on top high enough that the dogs can't get it but not so high I can't fill it also screwed it down so our KS winds don't blow into the next county. they are forcasting bad weather for this week end. Not looking forward to that as my son from Fr. Collins, CO and wife are coming for a few days. so sorry to hear about the storm in TX. I have been in a tornado or two don't care for anymore.
Bout got all the yard done do want to go to the nusery and get some kind of ground cover that will spread rall fast and is hardy.
Chriss..... I orginally planted 2 Jet Star that usually gives us plenty but after the ice storm etc decided to get acouple more not sure what brand I got Big Boy I think anyway have 3 tomatoes on one of them then DH picked up a couple more tomato plants not sure of the name then I'll be darn last Sunday when we stopped at the nusery if he didn't pick up another one so guess I'll have lots of tomatoes if they produce so think I have 6 plants had 7 lost one.
Gots to close and get busy so I can try to sew. Need to find my pattern first.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning Girls
Just a quick stop-by this morning so say HELLO. It's cold and rainy here in Alaska this morning and there is snow in the forecast for the weekend! Good Grief!
We are having a wonderful time snuggling with the baby! He is just so darn cute it'a hard to put him down.. I have been able to do a little sewing while I'm here...good thing I can practically see the Joann store from Jen's apartment. I've been there 3 times already. We were going to venture out to a LQS today, but the weather is just too icky to take a baby out, so we're going to stay in and putts around today.. Might get out the sewing machine for a little bit this afternoon. I made Kaya a little skirt out of charm squares and when I get home I'll post a picture. Found a box full of fabric that Jen brought up here and I think a few pieces are going back home with me... I'm thinking she won't have much time for sewing for a while.
Anyway,, just wanted to say HI to y'all and let you know I'm still here and thinking of you.
