Hi Swappers, I know I am going to have the reputation of the quilt block police on here but I feel I need to make sure we have good quality swaps. Due to the lack of follow through I feel that some of the swap rules need to be re-enforced. I am very concerned with the quality in workmanship of some of the blocks that I have seen. While it is true that we are at all levels in our quilting ability I can not, in good faith, accept or pass on blocks that have issues as follows:

Appliques that are way off center
Fabrics that are not 100% Cotton good quality quilting fabrics
Appliques that are not stitched down
Bad stitching (some looked like the machine gummed up really bad, and some had puckered applique that wouldn't iron down)
Cupcakes that are on point. (These are to be on the square for this swap as stated in the rules).
Blocks that are late. The deadline is the deadline. All blocks must be in my sewing room by March 10th
If you are machine stitching them on you must use fusible web or pellon, and ensure that it lays flat without puckers.
If your blocks have any of these issues, your set of blocks will be sent back to you without being swapped.

Please, Please follow the rules posted in the swap thread. Ask me questions.
We spend good money on good quality fabrics and take time to do a great job with our blocks and then there is shipping. With all that in mind, we deserve the same from everyone. I know we all have different skill levels, and the last thing I want, is to hurt anyone's feelings. We need to make sure that what ever level we are on, that we do good quality and follow the rules.
It is a big job to host a swap, and I take it very seriously. I have really enjoyed hosting in the past years, and will continue to do so once in a while. I have a few more ideas for future swaps. I really enjoy all the wonderful talents and creative quilters on here. I really appreciate you. Keep Sewing... Thanks so much...The Enforcer
PS: If I have your blocks and you haven't had a pm or email from me then don't worry, your fine.

Oh No - I used the fusible that you sew on, turn inside out and then iron. I also used a close zigzag stitch on some and a buttonhole stitch on others. I hope my blocks are OK.

Teresa- your blocks are great. You followed the rules.

I didn't mean to alarm everyone. I just posted because I had to send back some blocks and am worried that I may have to do it again. I just want everyone that may be new and not familiar ect. that they need to follow the rules. If I have your blocks, and haven't pmed you, then your good. Thanks, Vinae

Attention swappers, I regret that I had to reject another set of blocks from this swap. As a hostess, I want to protect the swappers that follow the rules and do good quality work. They should receive in return the same for their quilt. If I feel that the workmanship isn't proper, or the rules haven't been followed, I will not accept them into any of my swaps. I have never had this problem in the past swaps, and didn't expect this to happen. Because of these issues presenting themselves, for future swaps, I think I may have to post more detailed criteria.
I will send back your extra blocks to you. If any of you have any questions for me, please pm me. Thanks, Vinae

I am sad to see this happen. I applaud there efforts even though it came up a bit short of what you were thinking of.
I PM'd you to make sure my block was OK and you said it was. So I am asking please ... It is my wish for you to send one of my blocks to any you have to send back as a "Thank you" for trying and wanting to be a part of this swap. This might help them in the future to see what it is you would be desiring.
HUGE HUGS!!!!

Vinae has asked me about these blocks.. I can only get one persons blocks to load in photobucket... they are attached to this message... and these are in no way the worse blocks sent to me...

Vinae works hard at these swaps... she doesnt' nit pick over the small stuff... she really feels bad about having to refuse these blocks... and I completely support her decision...

I feel bad that she had to make this call but had I received these incomplete or awful blocks for my quilt I wouldn't have been happy...

these are the best of the two that she has refused... the second look like odd shaped bricks stacked on top of eachother... Vinae, please post the second set of blocks.... you in no way need to feel bad for looking out for your swap....

I personally think a person needs to be a posting member of this forum for at least three months before joining a swap... and will add that to my swap rules...
