looking for a pattern for strips
First, a bit of background.
I cleaned my sewing area and sold/gave away a lot of fabric.
All I really kept were some small pieces of juvenile prints and Christmas prints.
I did keep a lot of strips that are cut 1.5" wide.
I'd like to use them and I know there are plenty of patterns using them.
What I need is a pattern that requires very little concentration.
I am facing some personal problems and can't seem to concentrate on quilting.
But I NEED to quilt to keep my mind occupied.....it just has to be easy sewing.
Any information or links to pics and websites would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi Jeri....
sorry there are issues in your life.. I will keep you in my prayers... join us in the sew in and you will get tons of support.
for an easy strip pattern maybe a rail fence would work? or a log cabin.... those are the two easiest I can think of.. or.. the girls a while back were talking about a jelly roll race where they sew their strips into a quilt that is full of rows of strips... I am sure the pattern is easily googled....
don't forget.. you have a group of gals here who care...

Hi Jeri,
There is an Eleanor Burns Signature Pattern here on this website called Cinnamon Swirl that uses 1.5" strips. Sounds like it might be perfect for the fabric you have! There are even a couple of extra projects included in the pattern to use up the 'leftovers'. Look for it by clicking Patterns after you Shop Online.
Hope you do find a good way to use your strips. Quilting is definitely good therapy for us!

Sorry, I don't know how to make that 'clickable link'.

Re: looking for a pattern for strips
Sounds like you may be making a crazy log cabin by using a wonky center square on a foundation. I love how they look!!!
Another pattern is Rocky Road to Kansas... You can check out the videos in El's Media Theater and look in the Egg Money Quilts for it.
You can google "string quilts".
The Moda Bake Shop website has free patterns using "honey buns" which are the 1.5" strips.
Also, the Missouri Star Quilt website should have tutorials using the 1.5" or honey bun strips...
Hope this helps!!! Sorry it took so long to find you here!!!
WELCOME to you!!!

Thank you to all of you.
I have started a quilt as you go using the strips...sewing them to muslin.
Will definitely check out Cinnamon Swirl and Rocky Road to Kansas.

Re: looking for a pattern for strips
HI Jeri, Sorry to hear about all your troubles. Prayers for you today that God will bless you with better health and happier days ahead.
Thanks for the question too? I also have lots of strips, picked up in fill a bag purchases at several LQS in our travels. Mine are various sizes but this gives me some ideas. I don't really do quilts but will pare the ideas down to place mats, table runners, and snack mats.
Thanks everyone for your response. The answers were a big help for me also. Jeri, hang in there. We are all here for you. Come on over to Sew-In and chat a bit. Guaranteed to make you smile a little and also to realize that we all have life situations that sometimes get in the way of our quilting too. Lots of support from caring, loving, praying ladies and a few gents too. Happy quilting today and always.
Hugs across the miles, Shirley Mae
ps Please post pics. Sounds like a fun product. Leftovers make some of the prettiest quilts.

Thank you Shirley Mae and Chriss.
The strips are getting used today but I'm thinking I'll still have a LOT of strips left after this quilt is done.
Maybe there will be a Log Cabin in the future.
Although I don't post in the Sew Ins, I do read it every few days.

The Missouri Star Quilt Company has several tutorials on using strips of fabric. You might find this tutorial interesting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5Ixvjje310&feature=plcp
