Well, going down a back road, the trees can line up right after each other reaching out over the road. They are girls in their prom dresses, showing off greens, browns, yellows, oranges, and reds.

You may see leaves that have green veins, yellowing webbing, and brown tinges at the edges. They change at different times, and with changes in the coloring patterns from tree to tree. There may be one that is all a deep green and has bright yelllow at the edges like it's lit from behind. Its neighbor may have gotten a little harder frost, and have a red cast on the side over the road. You pop over a hill, and wow, that one is all deep red with just a little green on the underside.

I like the leaves that have a mix of red and brown that give them a purply look.

Tina - Your blocks will be awesome and I am sure they will find a home in the quilts. I can wait for my home to be overfowing with color!!!

Yes Teresa, I live on the West coast but I do remember the East Coast! And if the housing market doesn't start to make a comeback soon I may live on the East Coast again. I remember it as a kid, the lightening bugs, the warmth of the atlantic, much fewer fences, The apple tree, oh I could go on.

As opposed to East Coast Atlantic warmth, how about Great Lake snow? I know a town 1/2 from Erie & 1 1/2 hours from Buffalo where you can get several bedroom homes for around 50K - as long as you can find a job. A couple towns over had a lovely ice castle this year. And just think, a good frost at the right time makes the leaves redder. You don't have to miss your wineries, either. There are dozens of mom&pop ones cropping up all over the place.

Some day DH & I want to do a great lakes circle tour around all of them. I don't know if that is before or after travelling the length highway 1, across 50, and of course the trans-Canada. (I put my foot down about ice roads. That ain't happening.)

What about the midwest? House prices are very low here, and we have all four seasons, or maybe five, spring, summer, fall, winter and mud. The falls are beautiful with all of the trees around. Spring is so green and the bulbs are beautiful. Along the river the geese are pairing off and soon there will be little green colored goslings that will turn fuzzy way to soon. Winter-well it normally involves snow-but how much and when is always interesting. Jobs-well, they are hard to find too. One thing our state excels at is our politicians and higher taxes.

Come on over, Jacquie! We always have extra beds or couches.

And Kho, I'd love to spend some time in the midwest. My only experiences were Iowa for a few days this summer, and the "wyoming Trek" years ago with Girl Scouts.

Funny Jacquie - my main goal is life right now is a trip to Scotland before I meet my maker. I had a chance once and chose to go to Denmark instead. I have kicked myself so many times for that decision.
